The first year with the diagnosis of diabetes mellitus in the life of child and its family
SMUDKOVÁ, Radka
This Bachelor's dissertation aimed to map the adaptation development of child patient during the first year after being diagnosed with DM type I. The next goal was to identify the most frequent problems of child diabetic type I. and the nursing diagnoses linked to them. The third goal was to find out possibilities of patients' support and their families during the adaptation. Based on given goals four research questions were made: How does the adaptation of child patient go on in the first year after being diagnosed with disease DM type 1.? What are the most frequent problems of child patient with diagnosis of DM type 1. during the adaptation? What are the most common nursing diagnoses which stem from discovered problems? What are the possibilities of support of the patient during the adaptation to newly diagnosed disease DM type 1? The Bachelor's dissertation is divided into two main parts. First chapter is concerned with theoretical findings of problematics of disease DM I. It originates from the research and analysis of specialized literature. Second part of this dissertation deals with the research itself. The qualitative research which took place in the children's ward of Nemocnice a. s. České Budějovice was used in order to gain data necessary for the research. The main method of the empirical part was preparing case histories of patients who were hospitalized after being diagnosed with DM I. on this ward during the year 2014. The case histories were processed on the basis of medical documentation analysis run during the hospitalization of selected patients and the data found by research of their records from the specialized diabetologist's surgery completed them. The information gained through the semi-structured conversations lead with the child patients and their parents constituted an inseparable part of the history cases. Six child patients and their parents who met the requirements of the intentional choice participated in the research. The history cases map thoroughly the anamnesis and the initial hospitalization of patients with manifestation of DM I, their education and provided nursing care. Also, the history cases include data concerning the cooperation of patients and their parents with the diabetologist in a diabetologic consulting room. The conclusion of history cases is devoted to the statements of patients and their parents concerning the progress of their adaptation. The history cases show that going through the disease described by patients and their parents matches particular phases delineated in the specialized literature. According to the evaluation of diabetologist, all of the participating respondents adapted to their disease, the active participation in the treatment fits their age. The most common problems the patients had to deal with were the problems linked to the manifestation of their disease and its treatment, need for information and changes of daily and eatings regime. These problems often reflect in the given nursing diagnoses. In every patient's documentation, the educational diagnoses are missing even though the nurses played an active part concerning the basic education. The possibilities of support of patients and their parents during the adaptation which emerged from the research were mostly related to the need of more frequent consultations at the beginning of the treatment and need of constant phone consultation. Some parents lack information about possible social security benefits and bath treatment.None of the respondents used a possibility of psychological care neither they joined the association of diabetics. Some parents emphasized a need of positive motivation of patients. The chosen qualitative research form and small research sample of respondents do not allow formulating generally valid conclusions. On the other hand, the results of this dissertation may become a subject of further research.

Finally, attention is paid to the presidency of George Walker Bush, the influence of members of his administration and the influence of neo-conservatism on U.S. foreign policy in the context of the war in Iraq during Bush's tenure.

Rare Shocks vs. Non-linearities: What Drives Extreme Events in the Economy? Some Empirical Evidence
Franta, Michal
A small-scale vector autoregression (VAR) is used to shed some light on the roles of extreme shocks and non-linearities during stress events observed in the economy. The model focuses on the link between credit/financial markets and the real economy and is estimated on US quarterly data for the period 1984–2013. Extreme shocks are accounted for by assuming t-distributed reduced-form shocks. Non-linearity is allowed by the possibility of regime switch in the shock propagation mechanism. Strong evidence for fat tails in error distributions is found. Moreover, the results suggest that accounting for extreme shocks rather than explicit modeling of non-linearity contributes to the explanatory power of the model. Finally, it is shown that the accuracy of density forecasts improves if non-linearities and shock distributions with fat tails are considered.

Sedláčková, Markéta ; Šubrt, Jiří (advisor) ; Marada, Radim (referee) ; Perottino, Michel (referee)
The need to understand the ongoing process of democratization has led to the revival of interest in the topics such as legitimacy of the democratic regimes, the creation of political culture and inevitably also in the question of the role of trust in these processes. These topics will be closely examined in this work. In the first - theoretical - section we introduce the evolution of the concept of trust, its various definitions and categorization. The concept of social capital, which is often linked to the to pic of trust, will be also addressed in this chapter. A special attention will be paid to the paradigm of so-called collective social capital (Putnam, Halpem, Fukuyama), which focuses on the relationship oftrust and democracy. The second part of the thesis maps theoretical work on trust and democracy, paying special attention to the arguments of culturalists and institucionalists. When we talk of the role that trust plays in a given democratic system, we use three basic channels of their relationship: legitimacy, social trust and trust in institutions. Legitimacy in a given govemment and its institutions - a form of systemic trust - is considered to be the key founding block of the democratic system. Based on divergent theories we continue the debate to what extent, and if at all, is legitimacy...

Tomek, Prokop ; Rychlík, Jan (advisor) ; Hlavačka, Milan (referee)
The subject of this dissertation is the problem of activities of the State Security on a current district level which has remained up to now unnoticed. On one hand it dwells on the organization development of the apparatus of the political police outside big centres, on its persona! appointments and on the incorporation of the StB structure into the local system of the totalitarian power. ŠVECOVÁ, Markéta
Seniors are the group of patients most frequently occurring at the workplace of the author of this thesis, the ICU department of the Orthopaedic Clinic of Bulovka Faculty Hospital. Nursing care of seniors has its specifics mostly resulting from higher demands of aging organism. Despite the intensive efforts to provide the largest group of patients with quality care made at the workplace there is always something to improve. The main goal of the thesis thus was to find an answer to the question what could be improved on the quality of nursing care of patients after an orthopaedic intervention. Qualitative research in the form of a non-standardized interview was applied to collection of the necessary information on the present state of the issue. The research was conducted at the Orthopaedic Clinic of Bulovka Faculty Hospital. The research sample consisted of nurses working at the department and senior patients hospitalized there after orthopaedic interventions. There are several conclusions resulting definitely from the research. The nurses are sufficiently informed on the issues of nursing care of seniors after orthopaedic interventions and have sufficient possibilities of providing quality care. The factors negatively affecting the care being provided particularly involve obsolete technical background of the ICU and unsatisfactory constructional arrangement of the theatre. The solution of the problems is however closely linked to the lack of funds. As for staffing there is a problem of a large number of insufficiently qualified nurses compared to those meeting the qualification requirements. The conclusion of the research has provided an answer to the question what the spheres of improvement of the quality of nursing care of patients after an orthopaedic intervention were. According to the conclusions of the interviews with nurses and patients these are particularly better information of patients and investment in gradual improvement of material and technical base of the ICU, which would provide the patients with sufficient privacy, and make their exacting stay at the ICU easier. The problems of patient information might be solved by distribution of informational brochures defining patient?s rights and obligations, including the basic data of the department regime and instructions where to find answers to frequent questions.
