Stand-up in contemporary television news

This bachelor thesis is concerned with the status of stand-up in contemporary television news. The first part focuses on a definition of stand-up and its types in the available reference books and in the internal documents of Czech Television as well as on newly expanding methods of applying it with the emphasis on stand-up reporting. It also deals with the position of reporter and with comparison between stand-ups on public and private broadcasting. The second part is based on an analysis of chosen television news packages which describes principles of using stand-up in practice.
Negativity in news programme Televizní noviny (TV Nova) and news programme Události (ČT)

In master thesis called Negativity in Television News we dealt with the structure of television news from good news vs. bad news angle of view and in context both public service and commercial based media. We focused on two main TV news programmes Události (Czech television) and Televizní noviny (TV Nova). Bad news category was analysed in depth then. The text starts with a chapter about relationship between media contents and reality so we were describing social constructivism theory in media context. Then we dealt with mechanisms and influences, which affect form of media outputs; we focused on concept of news values and processes of tabloidization and commercialization. Next chapter was dedicated to definition of negativity in news. In this context we described presence of bad news in coverage during the history; we dealt with media violence and its effects on audience; we defined media negativity and set up the typology of bad news. The analysis showed us percentage of bad news in two main news programmes of Czech television and TV Nova. We found out, which negative topics were predominating and they were analysed in depth then. In this part of analysis we were researching through what particular factors of negativity the negative impression of news is being increased.
Comparison of the structures of new reports on ČT and tv Nova in the first and second quarter 2012

The bachelor thesis compares the consturction of the reports in the main news programs on the Czech Television and Tv Nova. The source is the broadcasting of "Události" and "Televizní noviny" for two weeks during the first half of 2012. The theoretical part contains the terms of the areas that have some influence on the usage of the typical elements.. The chapter on operational factors has the similar importance. A brief description of the media focusing on personnel changes is also included as well as more detailed description of the individual elements. The practical part presents four chapters with reduced results of quantitative analysis and qualitative analysis of selected elements /"Full natural sound" and "Stand-up"/. The following comparison is divided into three parts: first two compare the changes during the semester in each broadcast; the third part is dedicated to both programs in the second period.
Comparation of press agencies and foreign reporters news contribution

Diploma thesis "Comparation of press agencies and foreign correspondents news contribution" observe, analyze and compare foreing news in main television news sessions on channels Česká televize and FTV Prima. The target is to learn, if foreign television correspondents can distinctly contribute to the news progamme. Working hypothesis comes from theoretical scholar literature and practical experiences of author. The research establish approximate percentage of original correspondet reports and news agency reports edited in Prague in the selected media sample. With quantitative reserach approach the work evaluate parameters of each foreign news report. The goal is to make the analysis the most reliable as possible. It focuses questions as if correspondent brings exclusive topics and topics with relation to Czech republic, if correspondents are pushed to produce feature reports instead of actual reports, if live coverage is really the most up-to-date and authentic form of reporting, if world news agencies are really indispensable source of international news and audiovisual materials and if news agencies offer more complex service than televison correspondents.
Media image of the "vitkov arsonists" case in čt1 tv news

This bachelor thesis deals with the media image of the 'Vítkov Arsonists' case in Czech Television main news programme Události between 19 April 2009 and 13 August 2009, which is the period beginning with the arson attack and ending with the detention of the suspects. The theoretical part is divided into two parts. The first one deals with the media image of the Roma people with a general focus on the problematics of stereotypization of ethnic minorities, in particular the Roma minority in Czech media. The second one is focused on the description of methods used for media analysis, in particular analysis of objectivity and its violations and visual analysis. The practical part of the thesis is focused on the analysis of the news items broadcasted by the given news programme in the determined time period in terms of quality and quantity. This part takes into account the number of news items related to the Vítkov case and their genre typology. It also analyses the informational quality of the content of the news items, the visual coverage of the case, as well as the presentation of the case and of the individuals involved in the case. Comparison of virtuality of graphic statements and 3d computer animations in the main tv news of čt, tv nova and prima family

The bachelor thesis "Virtuality comparison of graphic statements and 3D computer animations in the main TV news of ČT, TV Nova and Prima Family" deals with usage of the mentioned types of infographics in the TV reporting and researches the extent to which they strengthen the virtuality of news. The introductory part of the thesis deals with the ability of TV reporting to show the reality and maps the principles of journalism that prevent from doing that. The following chapter defines the terms graphic statement and computer 3D animation and demonstrates their virtual dimension on the basis of their structural elements and examples. Then follows the analysis of the graphic statement and computer 3D animation in the main TV reporting of ČT, TV Nova and Prima Family during a period of three weeks. The evaluation of their contributions for particular spots and the comparison of their use for the same topics across the stations are supplemented by the reflection of Zdeněk Šámal, the director of news of Česká televize. The last part of the thesis brings the summary that recapitulates the tendencies of individual stations while including the discussed types of infographics.
The Infuence of Information Technology on the Content and Form of Current News Service in Czech Television

In this thesis, we focus on journalistic work at the beginning of the 21st century, especially on influences that affect it. We concentrate on aspects of technological development (digitalization, information technologies, and new media) and ethical norms. We consider the ethics of journalists' work to be the crucial difference that tells the profession of a journalist - who is bound by the ethical code - apart from a citizen journalist. The analytical part investigates these influences on the studied medium of ČT24, a news channel of the Czech TV - the Czech Republic's public broadcaster. The first part of the analytical part reveals the impact of the quickening of journalistic production on the genre spectrum of the reports in the broadcast. We have compared the number of the so-called secondary genres (if we call self-contained reports (CRT) and CRT-MO the primary genre) on Polední události, which is broadcast at a time when the editors are still working on the report, and the evening Události. NEWSROOM OF TV NOVA AT THE BEGINNING OF THE 21 ST CENTURY

Bachelor thesis "Newsroom of TV Nova at the Beginning of the Second Decade of the 21st Century" describes everyday life in a modern private television's newsroom in the age of speed, technical achievements and visual attraction. It also defines important aspects of daily work in the newsroom and interactions among its members. TV Nova's newsroom produces the most watched news cast in the Czech Republic; however it does not contain tens of reporters. Chamber character of the newsroom reflects in friendly relationships and close cooperation among all its members. This limits rivalry to a certain degree. Newsroom TV Nova, considering several news cast produced during the day, works constantly. Except of the weekends, news for Breakfast with Nova are prepared during the night and there are preparation for afternoon and evening news casts running since early morning. Therefore, the newsroom is never empty. Demanding everyday working hours have built a certain routine in numerous reporters. Those, who work here for many years, even suggest feelings of "burn out". Freshmen on the other hand consider working scheme appropriate.
Analysis of the selection of negative stories in TV news of chosen commercial TV broadcaster

The main objective of master thesis is to analyse the selection of negative stories in TV news of chosen commercial TV broadcaster with a focus on the relationship between negative stories and the impact of advertisement. At the beginning, the theoretical analysis devotes to mass media and matters related to audience, the media influence, and historical development of views on media content. After that, the next part is dedicated to TV news. The research has been based on the analysis of documents, in-depth interviews and the analysis of previous study. They have helped to find the answers on the problematic questions that are to find in the last overview chapter. The master thesis provides one of possible views on TV news of commercial TV broadcaster and can lead to thinking about the influence of negative news on advertiser in the commercial break.
Manipulation, disinformation and faults in television news

The thesis considers with balance and objectivity of the main news program of Česká televize. It tries to unfold inaccurate coverages, being transmitted in Události from september 2009 until december 2009. Inadequacies are further described and analysed in detail. Based on personal judgement, there is a possible reason and inflictor stated. The objective of this thesis is to point out Inadequacies in main news service of statutory television from view of objectivity, balance, correctness and other faults. Further provides aspects, which are the most frequent purpose of making faults. Thesis supplements monthly reports of Czech info company, which judges balance of news service only in constrained scale. The results of analysis provides valueable ratings of Události not only for television management, but for redactors themselves and other members of news team. The thesis doesn't lack even consideration about possibility of minimalisation the mentioned inadequacies. The source of information and data are articles, documents from Česká televize database, news service online archiv and experience from working in news room ČT. First part of thesis is concentrated on theoretical base. Serves to understand the whole problematics and as starting point for rest of the thesis. Even contains practical examples of manipulation and disinformation from the past and present. Second part describes the way of investigation of Česká televize news service and defines criteria of ratings. Third part of the thesis summarises results of the analysis, judges frequency and importance of inadequacies in news service and summarises their characteristics and elimination possibility. Conclusion summarises knowledge of the thesis, their comments, and enrichment from ČT news room experience.
