Mobbing and Bossing as a Modern Problem

A bachelor's thesis describes mobbing and bossing as a pathological phenomen of a modern society and it is looking for ways how to spread information about this psychological terror among people. The theoretical part deals with the issue of mobbing and bossing, defining the terms, describing their causes, phases and tactics and subsequent health results. The work includes graphs and charts for better understanding and comparison of dates and some information of publications and questionnaires. The practical part deals with analysis of the appearance of mobbing and bossing in Kutna Hora locality. The aim of this thesis is a description and characteristic of terms, characters of a mobber and wictims, tactics of achieving of mobbing and bossing and the possibility of prevention or defense. It is necessary to remark that mobbing and bossing are long-term issues that can not be explained or resolved in the only thesis. The dates are approximate, corresponding to only a small sample of the population.
Negative workplace phenomena and methods of prevention of their occurrence in the leadership system.

The objective of this thesis is to introduce negative phenomena in the workplace, specify various forms in which they occur (such as mobbing, bossing, bullying and sexual harassment), define the related terms and find factors which affect the desirable environment within a company as well as the occurrence of the negative factors. The contribution of the practical part of the thesis lies in the analysis of a survey which is focused on the existence of individual phenomena and on determining the strengths and weaknesses of a labour-law relation based on an evaluation of the relation between importance and satisfaction. The thesis concludes by summarizing the general principles of preventive approaches to the occurrence of negative phenomena, and by specifying the roles of individual levels of the company's management.
A Man to a Man - A Study of Mobbing, Bossing and Staffing in a Medical Facility

The thesis deals with mobbing, bossing and staffing in a workplace and its occurrence in a selected medical facility. In its theoretical part, the thesis defines the common and different features of these pathological phenomena. It includes a list of research findings from studies conducted in the Czech Republic, and those carried out in the Czech healthcare. In its experimental part, the thesis describes a questionnaire survey, aiming to establish awareness of these issues, personal experience with them in the selected workplace, people's responses and ways of dealing with them, as well as changes occurring in victims of psychological terror. It also establishes staff satisfaction in the medical facility.The survey findings may not be extrapolated to the entire medical facility, yet it shows occurrence of the pathological phenomena in the particular workplace. The survey identified two victims of mobbing who do not know how to deal with their situation, who they could approach to get help, or how to defend themselves. In conclusion, specific managerial measures are listed.
Influence of stress on work performance in selected companies

The main aim of diploma thesis, which called Influence of stress on work performance in selected companies, is to explore stress factors in the workplace and their influence on work performance. In the theoretical part of this thesis were summarized issues of stress, symptoms of stress, stress and healthy, types of stressors, stress factors in the workplace, stress management, work performance and pathological situations in the workplace, such as bossing, mobbing and sexual harassment.
Mobbing in the work environment

The thesis deals with the phenomenon of psychological terror in the work environment and offers a compact view of this widespread social problem. The focus of the empirical research was quantitative survey aimed to discover the approximate dispositions of bullying in Czech workplaces. Data were gathered from a non-random convenience sample (N = 306; F = 66.0%) of anonymous workers through a modified online version of the Negative Acts Questionnaire (NAQ-R). According to the self-labelling approach, 16.0% of the respondents had been (4.9% regularly; 11.1% occasionally) targets of workplace bullying during the past 6 months. The complementary behavioural method detected that 21.9% (11.4%) of the respondents had been subjected to at least one (two) of the negative acts on a weekly basis. The predominantly experienced negative acts had been work-related. The most prevalent source of workplace bullying was reported to be superiors (73.5%). There was no significant difference between males and females or the public and private sectors.
Assertiveness against mobbing in the state sector.

This bachelor thesis deals with the problem of mobbing occurring in the public sector and defense capabilities in the form of assertive behavior. The theoretical part is devoted to the basic terminology. There are also explained in the form of a negative style conflicting behavior, aggression, passivity, manipulation, conflict, and others. The practical part of the thesis is focused on the survey, where the aim was to map the occurrence of mobbing in an environment of government and various mechanisms of behavior, defense, and while the efficient use of tools assertiveness at work in the state sector. In conclusion, this work was designed prevention program called "assertiveness against mobbing".
Current state of mobbing in the Army of the Czech Republic

This bachelor thesis deals with the analysis of the occurrence of mobbing, which means psychological abuse, at the workplace of the Army of the Czech Republic. It focuses on its origin, types and individual phases. Furthermore the typical threatened employees and characteristic types of mobbers are described. The attention is also paid to the protection against mobbing. The aim of this thesis is also to inform the general public about mobbing so that they could possibly fight against or completely avoid it.
Mobbing and bossing within the framework of the Police of the Czech Republic

Mobbing and bossing is a kind of bullying in the workplace, which, in time, increasingly gets even in the armed forces, including the Police of The Czech republic. Psychic violence in the workplace is a serious problem, which is very underestimated. The aim of the work is to inform readers about the existence of hidden and dangerous psychical torture within the Police of the Czech republic. The work also gives information how to proceed in case of mobbing or bossing occurence in the primary department of the Police of the Czech republic.
Mobbing and bossing in the workplace in helping professions

Mobbing and bossing is currently still more topical issue and not only in helping professions. Areas such as health service and social work are assessed as high-risk areas. The main aims of this thesis were to find out whether the employees working in the helping professions faced the bullying in the workplace and if, how was the frequency of the bullying, and what are the most common indicators of mobbing and bossing with which the employees were confronted. The survey showed that the employees working in the helping professions have some experience with mobbing and bossing. The most common signs of mobbing were: spread of false information and lies about the respondent; complaining to the manager about the respondent; the respondents often think about the person also outside the workplace, the respondent is gradually ignored by the employees who formerly talked to him/her; all the mistakes made by the respondent were exaggerated; the respondent was ignored and set apart from the collective; the respondent was not invited to the social events where the other employees were invited or such events were kept apart from him/her; the work of the respondent was constantly monitored and its correctness was questioned; the respondent a target of constant ridicules and innuendos (clothes, handicap?); the other employees were leaving the room where the respondent stayed; when the respondent joined the collective, the others stopped talking; the education and qualification of the respondent was questioned; the respondent was blamed for any unsatisfactory work in the workplace; the colleagues sent meaningless messages and information to the respondent; during the absence of the respondent happened significant changed in the workplace; the things of the respondent kept losing in the workplace, the respondent was constantly moved into some other office; the respondent was treated with contemptuous gestures and jeers; the respondent attacked by the other employees; the religion, nationality or political ideas of the respondent were criticized or the respondent was addressed by an abusive nickname. The employees also experienced bossing. The most common signs of bossing were: assigning of a job which was not part of the respondent?s working competences; assigning of too easy or too complicated tasks; threatening with dismissal; abnormal checking of the attendance; senseless taking of competences and duties away; assigning of many tasks which were not possible to fulfil till deadline; non-acceptance of personal leave and holiday; monitoring of job successes and failures; unexpected surprises; constant monitoring of work done, much bigger than by the others; moving to other and outlying offices and last but not least social isolation from collective and working meetings as well.
