The life and times of Zia-ul-Haq
Došek, Roman ; Marek, Jan (referee) ; Gombár, Eduard (advisor)
ln my thesis I have been dealing with one of the most outstanding figure of the Pakistani history, general and president Zia-ul-Haq. Haq's origins were in Ju/lundhur City, he studied mi/itary school in Delh i, a nd after the pa rtition of Pakista n h e moved together with his family to Peshawar. Haq rose successfu/ly in the military ladder, ti/l the rank of General. Prime minister Bhutto chose him as a Chief of Army Staff believing, that this youngest of the generals would be easily manipulated. This proved to be fatal for Bhutto. Haq in a coup ďétat took over the rule of the country, and later in a fabricated process had hanged Bhutto. Haq took hold of the power for long eleven years. He stuck to the power by repressing the democracy, postponing the election and substantial changes of the constitution in his own benefit. Zia-ul-Haq 's regime is interesting in the domestic politics point of view, and especia/ly in the area of foreign politics.

The whole paper is divided into two parts, the former one consisting of five chapters introducing the area and its historical background represents the essentials for the latter one devoted to the phenomenon of nomadic shephards and manifestation of their culture. The period between the 18th century and the 20s of the 20th century is described in the second part. Most of the first records were provided by the Russian researchers. Current economics crisis in the works of Paul R. Krugman and Joseph E. Stiglitz
Tóth, Lukáš ; Skuhrovec, Jiří (referee) ; Mertlík, Pavel (advisor)
This bachelor thesis deals with the thoughts on current economic crisis in works of Paul Krugman and Joseph Stiglitz. It starts with an overview of their current criticisms and comments on the deregulatory policies that took place in the U.S. for almost 20 years and the government stimulus and bailout bills that according to Krugman and Stiglitz do not sufficiently reflect the underlying issues that causes the crisis in the first place. Thesis continues with identification of these issues in works of both economists and links them to their previous works. I argue, that many of these issues have been identified long before the crisis and could be dealt with in time by proper regulatory measures. The last chapter contains several thoughts on issues I believe represent a more general layer of what lead to the current economic crisis.

An emphasis is put on the way how these groups are incorporated into the elite (i.e. on the recruitment process) and which sort of society works as its staff supply. Vurm, Filip ; Opatrný, Josef (referee) ; Nálevka, Vladimír (advisor)
This study deals with the history of spanish - czechoslovak relations in 1945 - 1975. In this period both countries were on the others sides of Iron curtain which separes two ideological blocks created after WWII. Czechoslovakia, where the soviet influence was strong since 1945, became a communist state after coup in February 1948. Franco's regime in Spain was legitimased with the victory in the civil war over the coalition of republicans, which was dominated by the Communist party of Spain (PCE). Anticommunism was an important part of ideology of Franco' s regime and was used at the beginning of Co Id war for improving the image, which was damaged by colaboration with Axis powers during the WWII. For this reason Spain started to be asylium for exiled anticommunists from Eastem block and enabled them to lead political activities. It was also the case of Czech Zdeněk Formánek and Slovak Jozef Cieker. These two men represented different exile organization and had different points of view about Czechoslovakia. Formánek was defending democratic system of Czechoslovak 1. republic. Cieker was slovak nationalist, who wanted to destroy Czechoslovakia, to create independent Slovakia. This is why they were adversaries. They both died in the 60. when anticommunist exile m Spain had much less importace then before. In...
