Rybář, Václav ; Bednařík, Petr (advisor) ; Jirák, Jan (referee)
An automobile is one of the most important phenomenons of modern technology. Since its origins, it has profoundly shaped our physical, economic, politic, social, cultural and media habitat. The objective of this Master thesis is to analyze the evolution of the role of the car in the popculture from the 60s onwards and its dimensions, with a primary focus on Anglosaxon culture, with excursions to Asia and continental Europe, primarily Czechoslovakia/Czech Republic. The core foundation of the thesis lies in the analysis of the popcultural genres, selected films, TV series, computer games and comic books. The main purpose of the thesis is to reflect upon the identity and conceptual shifts of car, going from a mere transport machine through a vehicle of product placement towards the concept of the icon, a narrative hero of popculture. The hypothesis to verify is that the car has become an essential part of the popculture itself, reflected in many various dimensions: car as a toy, car as a friend, car as a status symbol, car as a narrative extension of the hero and finally, car as a hero and subject. The thesis is divided into five separate chapters, all including case studies. Following an introduction summarizing cultural, economic and historic factors of the car industry, the first chapter describes...

The aim of this work is to give some insight into the enviroment of digital comic and look at what kind of language is this new medium using, what is it´s specific quality. The work should put some light on what we can imagine when we say „Digital comic“, scatch out some possible issues around comics that had been transferd into digital form after they were released like a classical comicbooks. After that I am trying to analyse few works that had been designed specificly for the digital enviroment. At the end I am comparing these works to the classical comicbooks and trying to find out what makes them specific. I´m also finding an answer to the question what are the basis of these digital comics that didn´t lost characteristics of their original comic medium and at the same time were able to absorbed some new media.

Laboratory and Low Series Double Layer PCBś Production in PROTOCAD Laboratory
Chmela, Ondřej ; Zatloukal, Miroslav (referee) ; Starý, Jiří (advisor)
The content of this bachelor thesis is laboratory and low series production of double layer printed circuit boards. Thesis also includes theoretical analysis of materials and particular applications during their production. Main part focuses on PCB production using Panel plating method. Mainly on the analysis of the hole drilling technology Desmear, making holes conductive with Shadow technology, electrochemical plating of the holes and testing of the etching bath based on sulphuric acid. Practical part deals with preparation of sulfate etching bath, investigation of its durability a effectivity in laboratory conditions and low series operations. Furthermore, it tests technological steps of finishing, plating and making holes conductive. The results of these steps are then tested by microsections.

Imaging styles of American Cameramen in the 1960’s and 70‘s in the 20th century
Chajewski, Jan ; BRABEC, Jaroslav (advisor) ; SMUTNÝ, Vladimír (referee)
An analysis of the changes in style in cinematography during the „New Hollywood“ or „American New Wave“ of the 1960’s and 70‘s is the intent of this thesis. The main context for this analysis is the influence the French New Wave had on American Cinema. We try to look at specific aspects of American visual culture and the progress made in that culture as a result of American cinematographer’s reaction to new cinematic ideas. As a result of new thinking in cinema Hollywood cameramen began making “mistakes” acceptable and using them as visual tools, that their older colleagues where forbidden to use. Bonnie and Clyde was the first widely successful “New Hollywood” film, so in comparison to Jules and Jim, its French equivalent, we can look at the way visual language changed and how differently the same cinematic thought can be brought to life in two very different cinematic cultures. The main contribution of this thesis is the analysis of the new visual tools that American cameramen brought to world cinema. These tools can be observed when watching almost any audiovisual product made after 1967, when Bonnie and Clyde had its premiere. For future cinematographers the knowledge of the historical context of these visual tools can be beneficial for more informed viewing.

Possibilities of Neoclassical Geopolitics: Systemic Approach
Kofroň, Jan ; Dostál, Petr (advisor) ; Ištok, Robert (referee) ; Romancov, Michael (referee)
The submitted dissertation tries to introduce neoclassical geopolitics as a viable approach to the study of international politics from geographical perspective. The dissertation is a compact of six already published articles and a common introduction highlighting main points of the articles and further discussing some issues which were (i) eliminated due to space constrains, or (ii) their significance is rather contextual, in the sense that they set the articles into broader discussions. The first part of the thesis (supported by two articles) deals with a current stage of political geography and geopolitics. The main result is that geopolitics is today a divided (sub)discipline, as geographers are mainly engaged in critical geopolitics and scholars of the International Relations continue in classical geopolitical reasoning (namely those who subscribe themselves under the label of neorealism). The main difference is that geographers consider space as an inter-subjective entity - socially constructed, whereas IR scholars tend to see space as an objective factor. In the combination with other epistemological differences, this different consideration of space has produced an exorbitant barrier between these two fields. One factor dividing the two approaches looms especially large - it is an arduous...
