Potentialities of adolescents' social skills development at secondary schools
Krejčová, Lenka ; Gillernová, Ilona (advisor) ; Štětovská, Iva (referee) ; Blatný, Marek (referee)
The dissertation thesis presents results of a several-year research project which focused on potential development of adolescents' social skills at secondary schools. The first chapters summarize various concepts, knowledge and theories connected with our topic. The emphasis is put on socialization in adolescence which is an ontogenetic aspect of maturation which points to the dissertation's main theme. The thesis also introduces social skills and emphasizes their necessary development at secondary schools in terms of complex sociocognitive development. Social skills are also tightly connected with academic success and their development also prevents risk behaviour. Social skills development is further considered in connection with teachers who belong among crucial sources of social support and development in adolescence. Another important social group at school environment involves peers who form school classes and affect each other in the course of the whole educational process. Finally, the social skills are introduced in connection with academic success, i.e. motivation toward school work, and academic efficacy. Both these characteristics of the educational process depend on social skills and simultaneously affect academic results. Last chapters of the theoretical part draw attention to different forms...

Association study with the ADA gene and detailed characterization of two chromosome aberrations in autism
Vážna, Alžběta ; Sedláček, Zdeněk (advisor) ; Ferák, Vladimír (referee) ; Korabečná, Marie (referee)
Autism affects up to 1/150 children and represents therefore a serious social problem. It is a complex disorder with a clearly documented genetic component, but so far unexplained aetiology, which is currently a subject of intensive research. In the field of genetics various gene and chromosome defects are examined, as well as other mechanisms, including epigenetics, which could play a role in pathogenesis. In our work we tried to replicate the finding of association between the ADA*2 risk allele and autism in a sample of 385 Czech children. Our sample was larger than those originally published. We also focused on individual endophenotypes (types of autism, degree of mental retardation and co-morbidity). Our results did not confirm the association of autism with the ADA*2 allele in the complete sample or in any of the subsets. Chromosomal changes represent another finding in autistic patients. We performed the analysis of a ring chromosome 17 and a chromosome X deletion in two patients. Our studies represent an up to now unimaginable link between classical cytogenetics and molecular genetics at the DNA sequence level. As the first in the world, we described the structure of a human ring chromosome. Characterization of the defects allowed us to speculate on the impact of the genes involved in the phenotype...

Raising claims in insolvency proceedings
Kadlec, David ; Zoulík, František (referee) ; Smolík, Petr (advisor)
Raising claims in insolvency proceedings Quality insolvency law of economic entities is in addition to civil and commercial law one of the pillars of a developed market economy. In case the insolvency law allows relatively simple application of claims and is a guarantee of the recovery of substantial amount, it can positively influence business environment as well as enhance legal certainty of legal relations. In this area, Czech Republic with its previous legislation represented by Act No. 328/1991 Coll., on Bankruptcy and Settlement despite its numerous amendments, lagged behind its neighboring countries like Slovak Republic e.g., where this rule has been replaced by Act No. 7 / 2005 Coll., on Bankruptcy and Restructuring already since July 1st 2005. Important change came with the Act No. 182/2006 Coll., on Insolvency and Methods of its Solution, which is a complex recodification effective from January 1st 2008. Besides the overall modernization its primary aim was to relieve the shortcomings of prior legal form that have been visible mainly in very weak position of creditors in the proceedings, its slowness and low level of satisfaction of creditors' claims. The effectiveness of the new rules and their targets have been largely achieved after almost two years. The influence of creditors asserting their...

A contribution to analysis of molecular basis of selected lysosomal disorders
Hřebíček, Martin ; Elleder, Milan (advisor) ; Macek, Milan (referee) ; Adam, Tomáš (referee)
4 Conclusion As discussed before, lysosomď disorders can provide clues about the function of a deÍicient protein and about important cellular mechanisms. Because of that it is worthwhile to study patients with these rare disorders and learn from complex disease manifestations at biochemicď, morphologicď and molecular levels. This thesis is accompanied with papers on sphingolipidoses, the most frequent group of lysosomď disorders, and a mucopolysaccharidosis. The core of the thesis is anďysis of the molecular causes of diseases in relation to clinical manifestations. There is a practicď application to that, because enzyrne replacement therapy, an effective, but extremely expensive treatment, is avďlable for severď of lysosomď storage disorders. Prediction of the future severity of the disease can identiý patients, who can benefit most from the treatment. There is a trend to preventive treatment which can stop development of irreversible changes in the patients tissues. Because of excessive costs of the treatment even the richest countries do not treat ďl patients with these diseases. In Fabry disease we have shown for the first time that X-inactivation influences the severity of the disease in heterozygous femďes. Analysis of irractivation has a potentiď to become a predictive test in Fabry femďes - this,...
