Modelování přírodních katastrof
Zuzák, Jaroslav ; Zimmermann, Pavel (advisor) ; Masec, Frant (referee)
This thesis introduces various approaches to natural catastrophe risk assessment in (re)insurance environment. Most emphasis and further elaboration is put on probabilistic models in comparison to the standard model as proposed by Solvency II. The outcomes of natural catastrophe modeling play an important role in the design of proper actuarial models related to catastrophe risk. More specifically it is shown that they can be entirely understood in a wider actuarial context, namely risk theory. Within the Solvency II framework, probabilistic model outcomes are translated by means of the proposed decomposition methodology putting them into a similar language of the standard formula in order to create the ability to compare different results implied by either probabilistic model or standard formula. This enables both comparison of the implied dependence structure of probabilistic model to standardized correlations assumed in Solvency II, and scenario year loss factors of Solvency II to implied damage factors of probabilistic models in defined cresta zones. The introduced decomposition methodology is illustrated by flood and windstorm model outcomes calculated on exposure data of Czech insurance companies and compared to the respective standard formula parameters and outcomes. Finally, other applications of the proposed decomposition methodology are introduced, such as measurement of diversification effect or blending of different results calculated by different models or even approaches to natural catastrophe risk assessment.

Modelling the course of extreme floods in the context of landscape changes and integrated flood protection
Jeníček, Michal ; Langhammer, Jakub (advisor) ; Zezulák, Jiří (referee) ; Szolgay, Ján (referee)
Introduction Floods mean a considerable hazard for mankind. Effective protection against their impact represents one of the basic hydrology and water management tasks. The conception of flood protection came tfuough development reflecting the progress in natural processes description, flood experiences and also improvement in technology possibilities enabling better computation of flood measures effectiveness. Cunently centralized flood protection concept is replaced with íntegrated flood protection concept (Langhammer et al., 2008b; Dumbrovský et al., 2006)' which gives the complex flood protection solution for the whole basin by means of smaller, close{o-natural measures, such as small retention reservoirs. land use change, suitable agrotechnical principles etc. The thesis can be divided into three main parts that form three main pillars ofintegrated flood protection. These pillars are represented by three case studies. First study was made in Blanice River basin. It computes flood extreme changes in condition of changing landscape. Results could lead to positive land cover change which could cause the flood peak decrease. Second study was made in Chomutovka River catchment (Ore Mts.). It quantifies dry retention reservoirs impact on the course of floods by different precipitation extremities. Third study...

Optimization of Algae Population Growth Using Markov Chains and
Zouharová, Martina ; Kalčevová, Jana (advisor) ; Černý, Michal (referee)
The thesis deals with the task of refining the constructional and operational parameters of a tubular photobioreactor in order to maximise the growth rate of algae contained in the cultivation suspension. It builds on a basic growth model of the Porhydrium sp. alga, and focuses on the optimization of external irradiance, which is one of the key determinants of algae growth. Two distinct methodological approaches are applied: analytic approach, which employs Markov Chains, and simulation approach, which relies on agent-based simulations. In the analytic part, we introduce the construction of state transition matrix for a Markov Chain that accounts for varying irradiance inside the photobioreactor (in contrast to constant-irradiance methods that have been published so far). In the simulation part, we devised an agent-based model of algae population that enables us to analyze the system behaviour while interactively changing the model parameters. In the context of the results from both the analytic and simulation part, we conclude by suggesting the optimal level of external irradiance.

Sublingual in vitro permeation of folic acid as a vitamin.
Špiritová, Martina ; Doležal, Pavel (advisor) ; Musilová, Marie (referee)
Diploma thesis deals with information about sublingual administration of drugs in the first part. In the context with the tested permeant briefly describes individual vitamins groups. In the second part more specifically describes folic acid in the vitamin function and possible use in prevention of the congenital evolution defects and its protective effect on the cardiovascular system. Experimental part is aimed at caffeine permeation as a marker and folic acid as model drug over sublingual membrane non-trypsinized-frozen or trypsinized. As one of the main results it can be considered measuring of the values of folic acid permeation and the effect of used type of sublingual membrane. It is possible to consider measuring of the value folic acid flux values from dispersion vehicles EM1 and EM2 to be one the second main results. In dispersion vehicle EM1 was value for sublingual non-trypsinized membrane J= 0,6 [µg /cm2 . h-1 ] ± 0,4 and for sublingual trypsinized membrane was J= 0,5 [µg /cm2 . h-1 ] ± 0,2. For dispersion vehicle EM2 sublingual non-trypsinized membrane has value J= 0,3 [µg /cm2 . h-1 ] ± 0,2 and for sublingual trypsinized membrane the same. This flux value compared with simple liquid vehicle (e.g. IPM) is low. This implies significant retardation effect of the dispersion systems. This...

Process model of manufacturing company
Kuběna, Lubomír ; Řepa, Václav (advisor) ; Pálka, Jan (referee)
This thesis deals with process modeling respectively application specific modeling methodology developed by prof. Ing. Václav Řepa Csc. for the selected company active in manufacturing. The main objective and part of the thesis forms creation of process model. It's preceded by introductory description of the selected company and its global long-term goals set by management, SWOT analysis revealing strengths, weaknesses, opportunities and threats, on the basis of which is elaborated a strategy to exploit opportunities for the development of strengths. Before analyzing the processes and the design of process model Balanced Scorecard analysis is realized. Within its four perspectives, I propose and summarize the identified targets, along with their metrics, current and desired state. Further it's followed by process analysis and elaboration of process models to global (Eriksson-Penker model) and detailed (BPMN notation) level. Models have added the descriptive tables and description and main points of the design are summarized in the end. The main objective of work is followed by others, represented by the comparison of designed model and current situation in company, where is implemented quality management system ISO 9001:2000 (comparing similarities and differences, problems of quality system, etc.) and assessment of enviromental maturity of the company and its functioning from process perspective, using the knowledge model Michael Hammer PEMM (Process & Enterprise Maturity Model). Information obtained from the analysis and designs are put into context with each other to ensure consistency of whole design and my thesis and summarized in Chapter Conclusion.

Primary prevention of drug use focused on minority groups of inhabitants in the context of foreign experience with special emphasis on inspiration drawn from Dutch-speaking countries, particularly from Belgium
Šrahůlková, Kateřina ; Duplinský, Josef (advisor) ; Smetáčková, Irena (referee) ; Lašek, Jan (referee)
The thesis deals with the theme of primary prevention of the use of addictive substances, and of specifically primary prevention of the use of addictive substances focused on minority groups of inhabitants. In the theoretical part of the thesis, there are assembled both foreign and Czech studies relating to the theme of primary prevention of the use of addictive substances. On the basis of these studies there are introduced and described basic thematic groups that can be referred to while dealing with primary prevention of the use of addictive substances. Furthermore, the theoretical part of the thesis discusses concepts relating to minority groups of inhabitants, explains basic conceptions connected with the theme, pays attention to minority groups of inhabitants living in the Czech Republic, and characterizes research focused on drug use and prevention of drug use among diverse minority groups of inhabitants in various parts of the world. The practical part of the thesis illuminates concepts used by experts on primary prevention of the use of addictive substances to explain the essence of primary prevention. Included are also conceptions and opinions of people engaged in primary prevention, which should be realized in a group of children coming from minority groups of inhabitants. In conclusion...

Absurdity in Zahradní slavnost and Veletrh splněných přání
Dobešová, Adéla ; Mocná, Dagmar (referee) ; Janoušek, Pavel (advisor)
Resumé The work presented here tries to analyze and compare two texts of seemingly incongruous authors: "Veletrh splněných přání", by Vladimír Páral and "Zahradní slavnost" by Václav Havel. Both pieces connects together the period and conditions of their creation. The selection is also motivated by the similarity of its topics, crowned finally with the almost identical point. Pervasive sense of the absurd is analysed on three levels in the text: in the plane of language, fonn and motif. ln the plane of language above aH is concerned the comparison of deviated fonn of language that creates the atmosphere of alienation, misunderstanding, grooviness and nonsense; in the fonnal plane is compared the use of fonnal means creating the feeling of the mechanisation of life and the oppressive atmosphere of everydayness achieved in particular through the use of: repetition, variation and shortening; in the third plane, the process of identity loss is examined: the motif of both texts is the loss of identity on the way to self-assertion in the (mechanism of) quaintly inhuman environment and confonnation to the absurd world. This work at the same time attempts to name the links of both authors to the context of the world (international) literature in particular to the absurd drama and experimental prose, whose interface...

Cultural dimensions of alcohol
Guha, Alexandr ; Soukup, Martin (referee) ; Soukup, Václav (advisor)
The thesis Cultural Dimensions of Alcohol is concerned with the relationship between alcohol and culture viewed from three aspects. The first chapter traces back the alcohol as a culturally important matter in the course of history. The significant historical eras and events are reinterpreted from the viewpoint of the relation with alcohol. Firstly, it focuses chronologically on the basic cultural functions of alcohol (simultaneously wine, beer and mead) in the period of Neolithic revolution and in the most important ancient civilizations. Further, it describes the role of alcohol in the Middle Ages from the standpoint of Christianity and ecclesiastical reformation. The remaining part is dedicated to the invention and distribution of distillation, the cultural and social consequences, which the innovation produced, and subsequent prohibitory attempts. The conclusion of the chapter confronts earlier and actual viewpoints of alcoholism. In the culturally anthropological part of the thesis the alcohol is embodied in the global scene of psychoactive substances whose ceremonial use is understood as a cultural universal. The thesis discloses the anthropologically paramount position of alcohol in the scope of this drug context. The detailed diffusion of a structural model of culinary techniques with the...

Actual economic position of USA and prediction to the future
Vlčková, Milada ; Janíčko, Martin (advisor) ; Mikuláštík, Robert (referee)
The aim of this work is to analyse the actual state of the U.S. economy (from the viewpoint of some basic economic indicators). Then I tried to predict a future trend of indicators in the next couple of years. By using statistical data, found at the websites of international organizations ( OECD,IMF etc.), I attempted to estimate the actual position of the U.S economy in the context of phase of economic cycle. Working with coincident, leading and lagging indicators, I was searching for the changes and fluctuations in economic situation. All the indicators I compared with actual real gross domestic product. With the respect for rational economic interpretation, I predicted the tendencies in the economy of the U.S in future time period. For modelling the future situation I used an econometric program GiveWin. Finally I tried to estimate the lenght of the period, in which the indicators will return to their long-term equilibrium.

Hallucinogenic and other drugs as cultural phenomenon
Vaňková, Jana ; Soukup, Václav (advisor) ; Matějů, Martin (referee)
The subject of the work is a culturological theoretical-empirical analysis of two mutually connected and related topics: l-Hallucinogenic and other drugs, their consumption-abuse and addiction 2- Prevention of abuse of hallucinogenic and other drugs - forms of prevention and content. The subject of the dissertation is the problems associated with hallucinogenic and other drugs and their interpretation in the context of factors "hallucinogenic drugs, the individual and environment-society". The dissertation will be a culturological analysis including professional contributions on the problems concerning a subject which spans multiple fields. The goal of the dissertation is to give culturological contribution both for multiple fields discusion and practical prevention Acceptance of findings and observations from other fields is therefore essential, as is finding central points and common ground for co-operation with other desired fields. The work has two parts - a theoretical part and a practical one. The theoretical section will include an analysis of three basic levels in the consumption of hallucinogenic and other drugs. We can call the first level Consumption of hallucinogenic and other drugs as a specific human behaviour - a specific human expression. The work maps the attitude to hallucinogenic and...
