Live Cinema and its subgenre: Film-Theatrical Performance
Walterová, Zuzana ; DAŇHEL, Jan (advisor) ; Havlíček, Jiří (referee)
I explore the phenomenon of the genre Live Cinema in my bachelor thesis. But not only from the point of view of new media. I am trying to confront this genre with new possible usings of it – in the field of film-theatrical performance. I search for the right understanding throu the reasearch among its ancestors. First part of the thesis searches for the history of Live Cinema from the film point of view. Second part searches for the same, but from the theatre point of view. Last part is dedicated to my own personal experiences of creating Live Cinema in the film-theatrical way.

Jihlava International Documentary Film Festival’s Industry Programme and Its Benefits For a Producer
Šilarová, Hana ; ŠVECOVÁ, Marta (advisor) ; Tabakov, Diana (referee)
The present thesis explores the industry programme of the Jihlava International Documentary Film Festival, as well as the ways producers benefit from it. This festival has a long-term tradition organizing programmes for film professionals. The individual components of the programme are conceived, respectively, for participants of various professions, for instance festival directors or film directors, with its main section, Emerging Producers, aimed at starting European producers. The first part of the present work describes the history of Jihlava IDFF and the individual sections of its industry programme, while the second part compares the festival to two other ones of similar size, namely CPH:DOX and Visions du Réel Nyon, whose conceptions differ to a significant extent from Jihlava’s. The last section of the thesis, drawing in part on online questionnaires administered to Emerging Producers participants and to the producers of films competing at the festivals in question between the years 2012 and 2016, examines the contribution industry programmes bring to producers.

Scanning tunneling microscopy (STM) and spectroscopy (STS) study of thin ceria films
Dvořák, Filip ; Mysliveček, Josef (advisor) ; Sobotík, Pavel (referee)
The contents of this study is the investigation of model catalyst CeO2/Cu(111) by STM. The aim of the work is identifying the growth mode of CeO2/Cu(111), studying the surface morphology dependence on substrate temperature during the sample preparation and determination of the atomic structure of the prepared layers. In terms of evolution of substrate temperature during the deposition samples has been prepared by three different methods - a constant temperature, variable temperature, and annealing the sample after deposition. The growth mode of the layers CeO2 has been determined as 3D growth. Samples with different morphology have been prepared by varying temperature of substrate during the preparation. With decreasing sample preparation temperature the roughness and defect density on surface have been increasing. The best epitaxy has been achieved by temperature gradient preparation. Samples which have been prepared with temperature above 400řC have been partially covered by layer CeO2(100). Measurements with hight resolution have been performed on the samples with low coverage. The first three monolayers of CeO2 have shown a moir pattern which has been caused by mismatch in lattice parameters. Atomic resolution has been achieved only in the first and the second monolayer CeO2. The absence of defects in...

Optimization of the Production of Lipases by Bacillus subtilis
Slavíčková, Radka ; Omelková, Jiřina (referee) ; Hermanová, Soňa (advisor)
In this thesis, optimization of production of lipolytic enzymes by submerzed cultivation of Bacillus subtilis (BS) was studied. Production of lipolytic enzymes was tested in three nutrient media, which differed mainly in main sources of carbon, respectively of nitrogen. The first medium contained mainly extract from calf brain and beef heart (BHIB), the second medium contained peptone and yeast extract (NB) and the third one contained peptone and yeast extract with the addition of 2% (w/v) glucose (NBG). The highest lipolytic activity (0.0784 Uml-1) was measured in NBG medium. Maximum of lipolytic activity was observed before the end of the exponential phase of BS growth in all the media. Temperature optimum in NBG medium was determined from 30 to 50 °C, pH optimum in the range of 5 to 11 and subsequently the temperature stability of lipolytic enzymes produced by the BS was estimated. The activity value was determined spectrometrically using p-nitrophenyllaurate as a substrate. Produced lipolytic enzymes showed maximum activity at 37 °C in the alkaline pH of 8.0. Measurement of temperature stability showed that lipolytic enzymes are relatively thermostable enzymes retaining 100 % of the activity even after 1 hour of cultivation at 30 - 50 °C. The presence of 1% (w/v) olive oil in medium NBG caused a decrease in lipolytic activity by 65 % as well as in pH from 6.5 to 5.4 after 14 days of cultivation. After substitution of glucose by fructose in medium NBG, lipolytic activity showed comparable values during the first week of cultivation. On the other hand, the decrease of lipolytic activity by 29 % in the medium with fructose was observed after 14 days of cultivation. A procedure for the identification of lipolytic enzymes of BS by peptide massfingerprinting was developed to understand the potential of synthetic polyester - poly(e-caprolactone) as a lipase inductor. Degradation study of commercial polyester poly(e-caprolactone) was carried out by submerged cultivation of Bacillus subtilis in NBG medium at initial pH 7.0 and 30 °C for 14 days. PCL (Mn = 10,000, Mw = 14 000) was studied in the form of films (1.0 x 1.0 cm), which were prepared by melt-pressing, rapid cooling of the melt to 4 °C and evaporation of the solvent from 2 % dichlormethane solution. The evaluation of the films shown occurrence of weight loss (7.8 - 17.0 wt.%) together with the formation of numerous holes and cracks in the sample surface in relation to the method of the films preparation. Lipolytic activity values increased by 9 - 17 % in the degradation media compared to control samples. Densitometric monitoring showed also higher increase in cell mass in the degradation medium compared with control samples. Based on the results obtained, the degradation process induced by BS could be suggested.

Deposition and analysis of DLC thin films
Rudolf, Miroslav ; Čech, Vladimír (referee) ; Šikola, Tomáš (advisor)
Diplomová práce nastiňuje problémy spojené s výrobou a analýzou tenkých vrstev DLC:H.

Demand for cinemas - what determines the consumer behaviour?
Řeháková, Petra ; Mičúch, Marek (advisor) ; Kovanda, Lukáš (referee)
The main aim of this diploma thesis is to identify the determinants of behavior of demand for multiplexes in Prague. The main building material is the dataset of attendance and revenues evolution for individual movies distributed between years 2002 and 2011, always for the first four weeks from the premiere, provided by the Union of Film Distributors. The paper investigates consumer behavior on the movie market. The demand for movies is the dependent variable measured by the number of visitors in the corresponding weeks. The subject of analysis -- explanatory variable - is price, film rating (critics), genre, country of origin, character of time frame, frequency of screenings in a given week, format (2D/3D), length of movie, popularity of the actor/director, impact of movie series etc. The data are exposed to the regression according to which the significance of different variables is tested. The hypothesis about strong negative correlation of the price and quantity demanded is investigated based on the results, (Dewenter R., Westermann M., 2005) versus the hypothesis of weak sensitivity those two variables (Sangho Kim, 2009) against a more significant relationship of demand and other determinants. The influence of price on attendance has shown to be insignificant on the Prague movie market in the short term. A significant determinant impacting the attendance for a movie in the entire monitored period is the film rating, actor, length of movie, and number of screenings.

Gender Stereotypes in Contemporary British Historical Period Drama Series. Comparative Analysis of Downton Abbey and Mr Selfridge.
Hrnčířová, Denisa ; Matějka, Ondřej (advisor) ; Tomalová, Eliška (referee)
The diploma thesis named Gender Stereotypes in Contemporary British Period Drama. The Comparative Analysis of Downton Abbey and Mr Selfridge compares the marks of gender stereotypes and conservative principles in British period drama series. The analysis of their clash with progress in society and technology during the first two decades of the 20th century is performed on the method of qualitative content analysis of two examples of popular contemporary British costume drama Downton Abbey and Mr Selfridge. The theoretical framework of the thesis is based on the concept regarding history in film. The main category of research is the work with female characters and their social roles in Edwardian Britain which is characterized by unprecedented social change. The objective of the thesis is to analyze the way a female character reflects stereotypes and conservative principles that are usually believed to be characteristic features of period drama series. Additional objective is to examine how the 21st century society is mirrored in manipulation with stereotypes and social values in the series. The content analysis is based on the three criteria most interconnected wih position and social change of women of that era. These refer to property and proprietorship, sexuality, and emancipation of women in...
