Lipůvka – turbo roundabout of roads I/43 and II/379
Patočka, Miroslav ; Sedlák, Lubomír (referee) ; Smělý, Martin (advisor)
This thesis builds on previous work on an Institute of Roads FAST VUT dealing with modifications of road I/43 Brno – Svitavy. A conversion of the existing temporary three leg single lane roundabout to egg turbo roundabout with four legs, is proposed there, in accordance with local plan of Lipůvka. The intersection of road I/43 and II/379 can be characterized by large congestions in the morning peak hours during weekdays and afternoon peak hours on Saturday and Sunday. That is the reason for implementation of capacity assessment of designed turbo roundabout and comparison with current situation. Construction of fourth leg is motivated by the planned expansion of residential area and the development of industrial zone on the south-western outskirts of the village and rerouting of the county road II/379 out of built-up area as well. Road I/43 is an important thoroughfare north of Brno, so it is obvious effort to eliminate the bottlenecks on the route. The thesis also includes a theoretical introduction dealing with the design of turbo roundabouts abroad.

The impact of turistification and decentralization of functions on the use of city centre of Třeboň
Hosnedlová, Eva ; Temelová, Jana (advisor) ; Fialová, Dana (referee)
This diploma thesis deals with the impact of turistification and decentralization of functions on the use of city centre of Třeboň. The aim is to evaluate how changed the functional use of buildings in the city centre over the past 20 years, who visits the city centre in a variety of daily and yearly periods and whether there is depopulation of the city centre. It has been shown that in Třeboň grows mainly outer zone of the city, while in the city centre is a gradual loss of permanent residents. Over the past 20 years there has been a change in functional use of buildings in the city centre in favor of commercial functions and services for tourism. Due turistification and decentralization leads to depopulation of city centre primarily during out of the tourist season.

Ethical concerns involving the care of infants at the threshold of viability
Zlatohlávková, Blanka ; Payne, Jan (advisor) ; Hoza, Jozef (referee) ; Kuře, Josef (referee)
Introduction: Resuscitation and intensive care from the 26 weeks of gestation is usually mandatory in developed countries because infants born at this week have a very high chance of survival without severe disabilities. The period between the 22-25 week of gestation is known as the grey zone, during which the results of care are uncertain and unpredictable in advance. Thesis: Decision-making about offering intensive care at the threshold of viability is done in uncertainty, whether or not such treatment is at the best interest of the newborn, for out of principle, it is impossible to predict whether the infant will survive at all and if so, if it will continue to live without severe disability. Viability of the fetus and the newborn: Determining the threshold of viability (the ability to survive outside the uterus) is the initial point in considering medical treatment. Viability depends - aside from the level of maturity of the fetus and its health condition - on the advancement of medical technology. It is also based upon given socio-economical, and cultural factors. The threshold of viability in regard of the possibility to be born alive and survive lies between the 22-24 weeks. An expert agreement on providing active care is based upon the probability of survival and survival without serious...

Development of the mammal assemblages during Quaternary climatic changes
Havlová, Tereza ; Mazuch, Martin (advisor) ; Nývltová Fišáková, Miriam (referee)
During the Quaternary there was a cyclical alternation of warm and cold periods - interglacials and glacials. Over the past 2.5 million years there was eighteen or twenty these cycles. These climate changes influenced by, except other, Milankovic cycles caused at sea level, extent of glaciation or distribution of vegetation zones. All these factors affected the communities of mammals, their distribution, migration and extinction of some groups of mammals. Area of continental and mountain glaciers expanded as well as levels of the ocean decreased during the glacials. Many species of mammals penetrated into new territory with the emergence of land-bridges a mammals from isolated areas could interact during cold periods. There was a retreat of glaciers and sea level rise and the migration routes through the land bridges was interrupted during the interglacials. Many, mostly island, populations were isolated and they were often developed to new endemic species. Key words: glacial, interglacial, climate changes, distribution, migration, extinction

Comparison of the Scottish National Party and Plaid Cymru in 1966-1979
Razím, Tomáš ; Kasáková, Zuzana (advisor) ; Kubát, Michal (referee)
The Bachelor thesis "Comparison of the Scottish National Party and Plaid Cymru in 1966- 1979" is concerned with the regionalist parties of Scotland and Wales which achieved a substantial rise in popular support in the late 1960s and in the 1970s. Their electoral success led the Labour government to pass the acts which were supposed to introduce devolution to both regions but failed to achieve a sufficient support in the referenda. The thesis examines which of the two parties was more successful in enforcing its core policy and why. The first chapter classifies SNP and Plaid Cymru, determines their priorities and describes their origin and development. The second chapter analyses the electoral performance of SNP and Plaid Cymru, their ideological transformation, campaigns, electoral base and their attitude to the devolution bills and to the subsequent referenda. The last chapter determines that the SNP was the more successful party because it achieved better results in elections and the proposed Scottish Assembly was about to possess greater powers than the Welsh Assembly. This had two main reasons. First, the language division of Wales prevented Plaid Cymru from securing support throughout the whole region and made it rely on the welsh-speaking minority of the north-west. Second, Plaid Cymru's...

The role of supervision in the helping professions
Borovičková, Zuzana ; Poláčková, Věra (referee) ; Lorenzová, Jitka (advisor)
Helping professions such as psychology, education, social-work, health care etc. differ from other professions in many ways. In all helping professions relationship between the helping person and the client is crucial. It depends on the worker's personality, motivation for performing a helping profession, and obviously also on the degree of difficulty of these professions, which may cause stress and furthermore result in burn-out syndrome. Last but not least, organizational culture of helping organization also affects quality of helping worker's achievement. Supervision reacts to all these problems and helps workers cope with stressful situations, and thus prevent them from burn-out syndrome. It contributes to workers' consciousness of the quality of their relationships with the clients, helps them disclose hidden motives for performing a helping profession, and tries to solve problems in working teams of helping organizations. The role of supervision in helping professions is kind and safe contribution to workers' effective helping the clients. Supervision of helping professions has three functions: supportive, educational, and controlling, and several forms which help institutions and workers choose the most appropriate form for their purposes. Supervision is rarely used in Czech school system, although...

Play.
Kubišta, Adam ; BEČKA, Marek (advisor) ; TRPIŠOVSKÝ, Lukáš (referee)
In this work I ask myself one basic question: "How came to, that from infantile plays I reached the acting in theater?" I follow the progress in playing games and in playing itself from childhood along puberty to full age. I compare two parallel progresses. One of them is the way of sport games and the second one is the way of mimetic plays. It brings much more questions. I try to find answers for them in moments, eyewinks that got stuck in my memory for their - sometimes clear, sometimes veiled - plea. Simultaneously I look at the playing games/plays from view of already known theories. Next to this, I try to see also something besides. I entitle here the similarities and differences between playing in theater and sport games. Major part of the text is related to my own experience with support of already published works for related themes. In the end I give a summary of knowledge that this work has brought to me. On the basis of it I try to find out, how to play.

Tragedy of the Commons
Pospíšilová, Andrea ; Schwarz, Jiří (referee) ; Gregor, Martin (advisor)
This thesis focuses on the situation known as the Tragedy of the Commons, in which conicting individual and group interests result in overappropriation of a common- pool resource. It examines the setting focusing on theoretical models, combining the approaches of game theory and maximization. It analyzes the e_ects of dif- ferent aspects of the situation, such as game structure, game payoffs, repetitions and individual and group characteristics, first in the setting where no interactions among players are possible, and then in the situation in which players are allowed to communicate and decide on some kind of management of the resource. In accord with many recent studies, this thesis shows that state management of a resource is not the only solution to the dilemma. Moreover, when interactions among players are allowed, users may be able to design their own rules, thus avoiding the `tragic' outcome. Communication and the ability to design sanctioning mechanism is shown to have a major impact on the success of these self-management rules.

Establishing Mutual Links among Brain Structures
Klimeš, Petr ; Hlinka,, Jaroslav (referee) ; Krajča,, Vladimír (referee) ; Halámek, Josef (advisor)
The Human brain consists of mutually connected neuronal populations that build anatomically and functionally separated structures. To understand human brain activity and connectivity, it is crucial to describe how these structures are connected and how information is spread. Commonly used methods often work with data from scalp EEG, with a limited number of contacts, and are incapable of observing dynamic changes during cognitive processes or different behavioural states. In addition, connectivity studies almost never analyse pathological parts of the brain, which can have a crucial impact on pathology research and treatment. The aim of this work is connectivity analysis and its evolution in time during cognitive tasks using data from intracranial EEG. Physiological processes in cognitive stimulation and the local connectivity of pathology in the epileptic brain during wake and sleep were analysed. The results provide new insight into human brain physiology research. This was achieved by an innovative approach which combines connectivity methods with EEG spectral power calculation. The second part of this work focuses on seizure onset zone (SOZ) connectivity in the epileptic brain. The results describe the functional isolation of the SOZ from the surrounding tissue, which may contribute to clinical research and epilepsy treatment.
