English infinitives in adverbial function and their translation counterparts
Vašková, Petra ; Brůhová, Gabriela (referee) ; Šaldová, Pavlína (advisor)
My bachelor thesis will deal with the English infinitive in adverbial function and its translation counterparts in Czech. An infinitive in adverbial function mostly expresses purpose, effect, intention, cause or concession, in the beginning of the clause it may function as a conjunct or style disjunct. In Czech, these adverbial functions are implied mainly by a finite dependent clause. The main aim of the theoretical introduction is, firstly, to describe and analyse functions of the infinitive in English syntax. The infinitive will be presented in a broader context, i.e., within the concept of complex condensation, especially with the focus on its grammatical qualities. A comparison between English and Czech condensators will be made, as the analytical and synthetic nature of those languages, respectively, represents fertile grounds for comparison. English, with its preference of nominal constructions and reduced dynamism of the finite verb will be compared with Czech, where the lack of preference for nominal constructions can be observed. Further on, we will examine the difference between finite and non-finite verb forms in order to illustrate their properties and point out the syntactic and morphological differences between the two. Distinction between the grammatical categories will prepare the ground...

Changes and continuity in personal identities among Kabyl immigrants to the Czech Republic
Hyánková, Tereza ; Uherek, Zdeněk (advisor) ; Pargač, Jan (referee) ; Brouček, Stanislav (referee)
This dissertation thesis reports original interviews and observations concerning the adjustments made by Kabyl immigrants to the Czech Republic. Following anthropological field methodology and social sciences theories these data are contrasted with studies elsewhere concerning Algerian immigrants to France. Other immigrant communitites are also considered for comparative purposes. All of these studies including this thesis demonstrate that social identity is flexible, dynamic and socially constructed in response to various social circumstances encountered by the immigrants.

Appellation and cassation in civil procedure
Šlédrová, Kristýna ; Macková, Alena (advisor) ; Pohl, Tomáš (referee)
In my diploma thesis I am concerned with the regulation of legal remedies with regard to the use of two principal correction systems - appeal and cassation system. The purpose of my thesis is to give the theoretical explanation of these two systems, the overview of their practical application in the czech legal system and a brief insight into the austrian legal system. The reason for my choice of this topic is the substantial change in the legal regulation of our Civil Procedure Code in the last ten years. My thesis is composed of an introduction, six chapters, and a conclusion. Chapter One defines the terminology used in the thesis and describes the development of legal remedies from czech legal perspective. The Chapter is subdivided into four parts. Part One explains the concept of correction proceeding. Part Two circumscribes the construct of legal remedies. Part Three describes the history of legal remedies. Part Four deals with contemporary regulation of legal remedies. We have only one regular legal remedy, which is appeal. Besides that we have three types of irregular legal remedies. Chapter Two gives the definiton of the correction system. This Chapter consists of four parts. Part One gives a general outline of correction systems. Part Two deals with the appeal system, which means that the...

Time-domain switching device with three power outputs
Pavlas, Lukáš ; Macháň, Ladislav (referee) ; Šteffan, Pavel (advisor)
This bachelor work deals with the engineering design of Time Controlled Switch with Three Independent Outlets. It includes description of function, analysis of problems and suggestion for possible materialization. First, problems of capacity loads switching, following extreme conditions on the capacity outlets which are represented by short circuit state and by void state are analyzed and described. Then the work deals with the choice of components, suggestions for connection, design od printed circuit card and construction solution of the device. Finally, the work offers possible improvement of the design which consists in adding a complementary function of monitoring capacity loads or in a possibility tu use other communication technologies for remote setting of the device.

Cleft sentences in English and Norwegian
Mojžíšová, Kateřina ; Šaldová, Pavlína (advisor) ; Dušková, Libuše (referee)
The subject of this thesis is the use of the cleft construction in English and Norwegian. These languages employ a formally similar construction to focus a sentence element, but the use of the construction is not always identical. The analysis is carried out on English and Norwegian translations of Czech texts. The main aim of this thesis is to identify and analyse possible types of motivation for the use of the cleft construction. The studied types of motivation are the FSP, textual and syntactic motivation. The analysis of the FSP motivation is based on the theory of the FSP as described by Jan Firbas (Firbas 1992). The list of textual functions is based on the work of Jan Firbas (Firbas 1995) and Hilde Hasselgrd (Hasselgrd 2004). Some types of the syntactic motivation are proposed by Libuše Dušková (Dušková 1999: 319), but the types described in this thesis result from the present analysis. In addition to the motivation for the use of the construction, the thesis deals with Norwegian and English counterparts of the analysed cleft sentences. These counterparts are divided into three groups: the cleft or pseudo-cleft construction, the underlying non-cleft construction and a different construction (cf. chapter 4.4.). The purpose of the analysis is to find where the use of the cleft construction differs in...

Identification, expression, and characterization of Phlebotomus orientalis salivary antigens
Šíma, Michal
Sand flies (Diptera: Psychodidae) are vectors of Leishmania spp. (Kinetoplastida: Trypanosomatidae), medically and veterinary important parasites causing leishmaniasis. These protozoans are inoculated into the host during blood-feeding together with the vector saliva. Salivary components are crucial for sand fly female blood-sucking but also play a major role in the initial stage of parasite development. It was demonstrated that this rich mixture of proteins performs different functions after its injection into the host like hydrolyzing ATP and ADP, binding biogenic amines, and others which inhibits the haemostatic reaction and modulate the immune system thus enables the successful feeding. So far, cDNA salivary transcriptomes have been constructed for twelve sand fly species and we added another one - Phlebotomus orientalis, the main vector of Leishmania donovani, a causative agent of human visceral leishmaniasis in East African countries. We described members of thirteen protein families which corresponded with previously published salivary cDNA libraries of other sand fly species and showed the main salivary antigens using sera of experimentally bitten mice and naturally exposed dogs. Specific IgG antibody response is induced against sand fly salivary proteins in repeatedly bitten hosts....

Systemic thought
Tomková, Markéta ; Kebza, Vladimír (referee) ; Uhlář, Pavel (advisor)
This graduation thesis tries to summarize the systemic thouf.(ht, its scientist sources, systemic thought development and general and tbeoretical bases. This NL A. thesis is theoretical/y aimed and its objective is to present a synthesis of the systemic approach .. The systemic approach is a new point oť view in psychology, with its roots in 1950's. The systemic thought is inspired by three basic theoretical sources: general system theory, radical constructivism and social constructionism. The theory of systems is an interdiscip/inary theory that studies properties of systems as a whole. The radical constructivism is an approach to the problem of knowledge and knowing. ft starts from the assumption that knowledge is in the heads of persons, and that the thinking subject has no alternative but to construct what they know on the basis of their own experience. The social constructionism aims to discover the ways in which individuals and groups participate in the creation of their perceived reality. ft involves looking at the ways social phenomena are created, institutionalized, and forged into tradition by humans. The "socially constructed reality" is seen as an ongoing, dynamic process: the reality is reproduced by people acting on their interpretations and their knowledge of it. Furthermore, this thesis...
