Role of adipose tissue in the ethiopatogenesis of insulin resistance
Polák, Jan ; Štich, Vladimír (advisor) ; Hainer, Vojtěch (referee) ; Kazdová, Ludmila (referee) ; Rossmeisl, Martin (referee)
Adipose tissue is involved in etiopathogenesis of insulin resistance and subsequent metabolic disorders including type 2 diabetes mellitus and atherosclerosis. Mechanisms responsible for this association are investigated vigorously. One of the well accepted mechanisms linking excessive accummulation of adipose tissue with a development of insulin resistance are free fatty acids, which are released into circulation after hydrolysis of triglycerides stored in adipose tissue in a process of lipolysis. Impairments in a regulation of lipolysis are described in obese patients and lead to increased plasma level of free fatty acids and to impaired mobilisation of energy stores during exercise. In this PhD thesis, regulation of lipolysis in subcutaneous abdominal adipose tissuewas investigated using microdialysis technique. In the first paper we have observed that dysregulation in catecholamine-induced lipolysis and impaired insulin action in adipose tissue can be improved by dynamic-strength training in obese men. In the second study, we have demonstrated significant involvement of newly discovered lipolytic pathway mediated by atrial natriuretic peptide in lipolysis stimulation during exercise. Adipose tissue is producing several protein substances with regulatory and endocrine functions collectively named...

Coupled transport processes
Jeřábek, Jakub ; Kuráž, Michal (advisor) ; Lukáš, Lukáš (referee)
The objective of this thesis was to implement a new module to the DRUtES model code, which allows to calculate coupled transport of moisture, temperature and miscible substance in a variably saturated porous media. The main part of the practical phase of the thesis was to implement appropriate constitutive relationships describing a coupled transport to the Galerkin finite elements scheme previously implemented in the DRUtES model. Besides this, a corresponding configuration files were made to assign parameters of the model into program data structures as well as a little bit of other programming work elsewhere in the code. Numerical solution of each transport equation was compared with its analytical solution. 1D moisture transport with the Philips semi-analytic solution of diffusive form of Richards equation. 2D temperature and miscible substance transport with an analytical solution of advection-dispersion equation. This comparisons suggested that the implementation was correct. The coupling of these processes was compared with a reference numerical solution. In this case was the fitness of results assessed in more qualitative manner with a literature. Before use of this coupled model to solve a real world problem, I would recommend to make a similar assessment with the real data.

The accounting responsibilities of a permanent establishment in Slovak Republic
Ľorková, Jana ; Skálová, Jana (advisor)
The Bachelor thesis deals with the accounting responsibilities of a permanent establishment of Czech corporate entity in Slovak Republic. It is divided into five chapters. The first chapter defines an enterprise of foreign entities in Slovak Republic with the focus on the Slovak Commercial Code point of view. The second chapter deals with the definition of the term permanent establishment and with related terms. Strong emphasis is on defining the difference between a permanent establishment and a branch of a foreign person, as well as on the criteria of genesis of these institutions. Third part focuses on the Slovak and the Czech Income Tax Act requirement for permanent establishment, on the calculation of the tax base and on the avoidance of double taxation. The last two chapters focus on the accounting of the permanent establishment from the perspective of Czech corporate entity as founder and from the permanent establishment point of view, too.

Linear semiflexible polyelectrolytes in solutions
Bačová, Petra ; Limpouchová, Zuzana (advisor) ; Lísal, Martin (referee)
Title: Linear semiflexible polyelectrolytes in solutions Author: Petra Bačová Department: Faculty of Science, Charles University in Prague Supervisor: Doc. Ing. Zuzana Limpouchová, CSc. Supervisor's e-mail address: zl@vivien.natur.cuni.cz Consultant: Mgr. Peter Košovan, PhD. Abstract: In this thesis I used the Molecular dynamics simulations for study of charged polymers (polyelectrolytes) and their behaviour in solutions. Wide range of polyelectrolytes are se- miflexible and in contrast to neutral polymers it is possible to influence their stiffness by changing the properties of solution as for example ionic strength. The chain flexibility may be characterized by the persistence length. Thesis explains how to express the persistence length from orientational correlation function which shows the double exponential decay. Two contributions to chain stiffness are discussed and the interest is concentrated around electrostatic persistence length which seems to be scale dependent. An effect of added salt on the chain conformation is studied. Salt is treated implicitly within the Debye-Hückel approximation. The results are confronted with OSF theory and the conclusions of vari- ational calculations of Maghi and Netz. The presented thesis describes the conformational behaviour of polyelectrolytes in salty solutions,...

The importance and utilization of LPG in transport
Binderová, Vanda ; Dvořák, Antonín (advisor) ; Hadrabová, Alena (referee)
The importance and utilization of LPG in transport - just the title signifies what is this bachelor thesis focused on. The first part gives a chance to learn more about liquified petroleum gasses, i.e. LPG. It comprehends information about its history, compound, processing, features and also advantages and disadvantages related with this gas. The second part is concerned with the relationship "LPG and environment". You can find there answers to questions like: Why does transport have a negative influence to environment? Which substances are emitted by fuel combustion to atmosphere? Is LPG regardful of environment? The third part is an economic one. It contains the calculations of LPG purchase costs and their economic return and also the price comparison to another fuels. The main aim of this thesis is to compare LPG with petrol and diesel oil and analyze its environmental and economic efficiency.

The analysis of buying terms and consumer behaviour of the city of Hlinsko
Vokáčová, Lucie ; Cimler, Petr (advisor) ; Filipová, Vladimíra (referee)
This thesis should introduce the retail situation of Hlinsko and show the trends and typical consumer behaviour of the citizens of this city and the nearest neighbourhood. The thesis consists of 3 main parts: The first one is theorethical and describes the actual retail situation of the city and all the stores, where food assortment can be bought. These stores are then divided according to their sort and size. After five hypothesis have been determined, the stores have been marked in the map of the city of Hlinsko. The second and main part is half practical and half analytical. It contains a questionnaire investigation of the households of Hlinsko and the neighbourhood. The results are processed and aplicated on the hypothesis from the first part. The third part includes analytical calculations of the service area and sales capacity of the stores in Hlinsko. As the conclusion, the outcome is compared with the real situation.

Recent Trends in the Housing Market
Tsharakyan, Ashot ; Zemčík, Petr (advisor) ; Laurin, Frédéric (referee) ; Gilbert, Scott (referee)
In my dissertation I focus on exploring the major aspects of real estate markets' development over the last fifteen years. The dissertation includes theoreticalas well as empirical analysis of US and Czech real estate marketand consists of 4 chapters. In the first chapter the aggregate welfare effects of housing price appreciation in the presence of binding constraints are analyzed. The additional beneficial effect of housing price appreciation in the form of relaxation of credit constraints and opportunity for better consumption smoothing is taken into account when calculating the welfare effects of housing price appreciation. The effects of housing price appreciation are analyzed using both a model with exogenous housing prices based on previous literature as well as a newly developed model with endogenous housing prices. The second chapter explores theaggregate welfare effects of housing price changes in a stochastic general equilibrium framework with heterogeneous agents. The household sector in this model consists of two types of households, namely credit constrained and unconstrained ones, which differ both with respect to their time preferences as well as the structure of assets they own. The model also includes multi-sector production side and several sources of exogenous stochastic shocks....
