In the second chapter I mainly provide information on the cultural customs, that means information on the religion, population, but also language or clothing habits. In this part I also consider phenomenons, which are specific for Dubai, such as the artificially created islands. In the last chapter I wanted to point out business negotiations, business relations between Dubai and the Czech Republic and the description of the last year's crisis in Dubai. I also provide a guideline for setting up a business in Dubai and how to avoid possible business risks and dangers.

The Economic Importance of Splitting the European Monetary Union
Peľak, Branislav ; Žamberský, Pavel (advisor) ; Neumann, Pavel (referee)
From recent research on optimum currency areas it is clear that the European Monetary Union does not represent an optimum currency area. Since 2008 the countries of southern part of the eurozone have found themselves in a financial, economic and debt crisis. Therefore a question about the economic importance of splitting the European Monetary Union arises. The aim of this thesis is to give answer to the question of how to divide the eurozone so that the newly formed monetary unions could be considered optimum currency unions, alternatively, so that the newly formed monetary unions are more optimal than currently the eurozone is. Using the method of analysis and synthesis we have reached a decision to divide the eurozone into two parts. One part comprising the southern countries -- Portugal, Spain, Italy, Greece, Malta and Cyprus and the other part comprising the rest of the eurozone.

Risk Analysis, Prevention And Following Crise Measures During A Possible SARS Desease Importation
TOUSECKÝ, Peter
The topic of my bachelor thesis is {\clqq} The Risk Analysis, Prevention and Subsequent Crisis Precaution within Possible SARS Spreading.`` Nowadays SARS {--}Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome belongs to the possible threat to the population and starting with 12 th March 2003 the term SARS was defined as a risk phenomenon by the World Health Organization (WHO). As a matter of fact, SARS at the time of its beginning and spreading all over the world, didn´t occur in the Czech Republic and has been forgotten. More than ever it is necessary to remind the principal aspect of SARS origin and its potential impact on the inhabitants of the Czech Republic and its neighbouring countries in the case of SARS reccurence in the world. Educational training in a form of the anonymous questionnaire consisting of 80 respondents as well as information processing are the parts of my bachelor thesis. To the topic mentioned above I was motivated, at the time of SARS pandemic in the world, by the work in the Security Corps whose aim was monitoring and eliminating refugees inflow toEurope from the region of developing countries. Research data unambiguously prove that the developing countries were the area of SARS origin and occurence. Especially in 2003 in the land register of Strání Květná, district Uherské Hradiště, national border with Slovakia, the inflow more than 1000 refugees was recognized. But the estimates in this region start from the number of 5000 refugees who used this area of national border of the Czech Republic for illegal transferring to the developed European countries, namely Germany, with the help of passers. At that time the members of Force Corps had to face up to refugees drive although they were not trained and protected from SARS infection. I was interested in the problem of the infection transmission and I concluded that the fear in dealing with refugees in this post was wasted. SARS incubation period was maximum 10 days but the refugees´ transit from the country of origin especially from China to the Czech Republic was examined to the period from 1 to 3 months. The necessity to inform inhabitants of possible SARS transmission to Europe and the Czech Republic afterwords results from the mentioned personal knowledge.

Bailouts in banking industry : Curse or salvation?
Šolc, Jan ; Janda, Karel (advisor) ; Hedbávný, Petr (referee)
One of questions discussed in the light of current financial crisis is the problem bailouts in banking industry. This thesis contributes to this dispute by studying the relationship between the probability to be bailed out and the risk appetite of particular commercial bank. The aim of this paper is to analyze this relationship in both, theoretical and empirical way, which is still missing in current literature. We work with two hypotheses in this paper. The first one is that there is a positive relationship between the above mentioned variables while the second one suggests that large commercial banks tend to have higher risk appetite. Our first hypothesis is studied in both ways, while the second one is analyzed only in a theoretical way. In the theoretical part we derive the relationships between considered variables under the general equilibrium framework. In our model we work with an economy with four different agents (namely households, firms, commercial banks and central bank). These derived relationships are then analyzed empirically. We work with a panel data dataset considering the data about 500 commercial banks from 70 countries over the 2005-2008 period. The results of empirical analysis suggest that there is a negative relationship between the probability to be bailed out and the risk...

The use of copula functions for predictions of market contagion of liquidity risk
Vrábel, Michal ; Vošvrda, Miloslav (referee) ; Teplý, Petr (advisor)
In this diploma thesis we tried to model liquidity risk with the use of copula functions. We presented theoretical background for both areas, theory of copulas and liquidity risk. Empirical work is focusing more on the liquidity in CEE countries and especially in Slovakia and Czech Republic. In this part we created a market liquidity index for Slovak financial market and analyzed affects of liquidity problems during the financial crisis on the overall liquidity in this market. Furthermore, we modelled the possibility of market contagion of liquidity risk in Czech banking sector, based on loan-to-deposit ratios of Komerční banka, Česká spořitelna and GE Money Bank.
