Option pricing methods
Chrobok, Viktor ; Vlasáková Baruníková, Michaela (referee) ; Gapko, Petr (advisor)
The diploma thesis is focused on the option pricing methods. There are described basic features of the option contracts and the types of them. Then a description of 6 pricing methods is given - the Black-Scholes model, the French Black-Scholes model, the Binomial Model, the Quadratic approximation model, the Bjerksund-Stersland model and the Jump-Diffusion model. The empirical part contains an analysis of the performance of all models on the real market data. It was shown that all models except for the Jump-Diffusion one fit the data very well, yet it was impossible to determine the best one. The evidence suggests that it is better to plug a few-days-delayed implied volatility than the historical one into all of the models. It was observed that the models for pricing European options are suitable even for the American ones.

Linguistic analysis of a Baroque Homily
HIPSKÁ, Petra
In the thesis Language Analysis of Baroque Sermon I deal with the morphological level of the Baroque sermon written by Karel Václav Černý Medotekoucí sláva na hůře Libanu (Fame on Liban Mountain) dating back to 1727. The thesis is a follow-up of my bachelor thesis analyzing the syntactic level of sermon. Besides this it involved the exposition concerning the Baroque time and the Saint John of Nepomuk. For this reason I do not state this information in my thesis. The thesis is based on the research of grammatical means applied in the text, as in view of the scope the thesis could not be focused on the lexical and stylistic level. Theoretical base are for me the present as well as the historical grammar books. I classify word classes acquired by excerption and focus on their characteristic features. I try to prove everything by examples found in the text. The target of this thesis is to compare the Baroque grammatical means with the means of the present Czech language.

Valentová, Veronika ; Pospíšil, Zdeněk (referee) ; Boháč, Ivo (advisor)
The task was to create a multi-functional building with a predominant feature of living in Brno on the corner of Stara and Bratislavska. This area is close to the city street circuit that encircles the center of Brno. The territory includes a vacant lot at the corner of the intersection, and further defined the adjacent street of Stará, Bratislava and Körnerová. My goal was to create a multifunctional building that would bring new applications to the sites and would be used at any time of the day. For this reason. I decided to combine the function of housing, commercial, administration and relaxation. Another goal was to create an object that will respect the surrounding historical buildings and give it added value. The result is mass divided into several smaller buildings, which opens onto a street junction with Stará and Bratislavska.

Art, play and the development of personality
Šašek, Miroslav ; Zuska, Vlastimil (advisor) ; Dadejík, Ondřej (referee)
Art and play are social phenomena with features which could be used in personality development. This thesis is at first plan trying to see what these phenomena are likes. It seems that mentioned phenomena are cultural universalities and that art has a longer tradition of thinking of its subject than play. This thesis tries to say how play manifests itself. Its manifestations are called symptomas and we can find ten of these. We part from works of J. Huizinga, R. Caillois and E. Fink. In this way we get a measure to distinguish among the play and other forms of activities, e.g. little games, riddles, sayings as less structured activities. And sport, outdoor, model and psychological activities as the ones with greater complexity than the play on the other side. We point that a play lies on the aesthetic ground or even that its aesthetic activity is dominant. In the following part we deal with the term art. Across historical use of this notion we come to Jan Mukarovsky's and Nelson Goodman's point of view. Art is a system of signs which not only in functions as means of meaning, but its meaning lies on different symbolical fields from plain sign immediacy to complex reference. At the end of this work we have compared these two phenomena and try to point out to different possible ways of use for personality...

Historické využití dřeva na příkladu Muzea vesnice jihovýchodní Moravy ve Strážnici
Jurčík, Josef
This work is dealing with the historical utilization of wood and wood products selected by dendrochronological dating of selected economic buildings . The aim was to explore what kind of wood is the most commonly used for this type of product on the purpose to compare the results with the literature. Selected articles and dating of objects are situated in the area at the Village Museum of Southeast Moravia in Strážnice. For clarity, the products were divided into the two categories (furniture and farming products). Dated object of the building was originally drive-through from Hrušky. Anatomical identification was conducted in some subjects macroscopically within the museum. Among other subjects, samples were taken which were then determined in a laboratory microscope. The dating of samples of the main elements of the barn was performed according to standard dendrochronological methodology. Total results 1080 samples from 302 selected subjects. It has been identified 23 kinds of trees (4 conifers, broadleaves 4 with circularly porous structure, 15 broadleaves with scattered porous structure). Coniferous trees were primarily used for production of commodes and chests. For the production of dugout product was dominated use rather soft trees, especially poplar. Other farming products were manufactured primarily from wood with higher density (beech, ash, oak and elm). An interesting feature was the using of the fruit trees (cherry-tree, apple-tree, plum) or fewer frequently used trees (cornel, hazel) Investigated barn has been dated to the period after 1856. Use of such an amount of trees pointed out that domestic producers were not using it just their availability in the region, but also with regard to their physical and mechanical properties and their own experiences.

Gonzo journalism-his origin, progress and influence on journalism
Nouzová, Pavlína ; Beneš, Piere (advisor) ; Vedral, Jan (referee)
This thesis deals with Gonzo journalism in all the world and especially in Czech republic. First part is about origin of Gonzo journalism and its "founder" Hunter S. Thompson. I use his personality to show a form of old Gonzo and I portray typical features of this style or its authors with using Thompson's articles. I choose as a main article The Kentucky Derby Is Decadent and Depraved, which is considered as a first Gonzo article. But not only history is important, so the thesis is also about modern Gonzo in foreign countries. As in the first part, I chose one typical representative of this style - Matt Taibbi. He contributes to Rolling Stone magazine (like Thompson did, too) and often disgusts many of his readers. In his case, I don't focus on particular articles, but on two magazines - The eXile and New York Press. I use these two distinctive personalities (Thompson and Taibbi) to compare old Gonzo with a modern form and I explain differences and causes of them. Next very short part of my thesis is about Gonzo in other branches and I show the popularity of Gonzo besides journalism. Then I focus on Gonzo journalism in Czech republic. I chose as main journalists Michal Nanoru, Honza Vedral and Petr Wagner and as main magazines Živel, Filter and Full Moon. I compare them and show their strengths...

Graphemics in the German documents of Václav IV 1379-1399
Bartůňková, Alena ; Ebelová, Ivana (referee) ; Vodrážková, Lenka (advisor)
The goal of this thesis is twofold. On the one hand I try to determine a system in the use of the graphemes in the documents of Vac1av IV. from the years 1379-1399 and I confront the findings with the use of the graphemes in the Middle Upper German (Mittelhochdeutsch). On the other hand, I compare these results with the use ofthe graphemes in the early Upper German (Frühneuhochdeutsch) as described in the literature, in particular in 1. T. Piirainen, V. Moser, H.Bokova, L.E. Schmitt and V.E. Mourek. The first chapter describes the period of reign of Vac1av IV as weIl as the personality ofthe ruler. The second chapter deals with the court ofVac1av IV. with a particular emphasis on the language situation at the court. Further, Vac1av IV.'s chancellery is characterized in the chapter three as apart of the court and I also shortly describe its history, structure as weIl as the competence of its members. Chapter five is devoted to documents as objects of a study; thus, first I define and c1assify different types of docurnents and second, I indicate the relevant features both in the form of the document and its content. The next chapter describes the status of the early Upper German (Fruhneuhochdeutsch) as it emerges from the literature. The seventh chapter lists the documents of Vac1av IV. between the years 13...
