Bednárová, Ľudmila ; Černá, Iveta (advisor) ; Taušer, Josef (referee)
Disintegration of colonial system during the period of 1960s enabled the emergence of a group of developing countries, that broke out from political addiction and started independent operation. In the region of African countries the decolonisation was rounded out in the 1960 when the first african regional integrations were established. The aim of this bachelor thesis is to analyze the development of African regionalism (its chosen aspects), as well as other coherent agreements of cooperation. The thesis focuses on the answers to ulterior questions: Is it possible for Africa to get over huge economic and social backwardness? How did the African regionalism develop in substantially different parts of this continent? What are the results of economic cooperation between EU and Africa? The first chapter explains general social, cultural and political background of regionalism in Africa. The second chapter outlines the evolution of relations among the states of Africa and EU, examined on the basis of small steps in signing the agreements. The third chapter deals with the effectual formation of regionalism in Africa. The fourth chapter demonstrates the differences in approaches to regional integration in different parts of African region. This part compares two regional integrations and EU's attitude towards cooperation with them. The final chapter proposes the possible solutions of the most burning problems in Africa, through the conjoint process or with the help of the developed countries.
Reaction of several European countries to the Financial Crisis
Helikar, Vojtěch ; Steinmetzová, Dana (advisor) ; Jelínek, Tomáš (referee)
My bachelor thesis consists of three main parts. First part is focused on the origins of Financial Crisis containing facts that have had a long run affect (CRA, government/ FED initiatives, securitisation, Basel I, Basel II), certain economical factors (low inflation, low interest rates between 2001 and 2004, providing and supporting subprime mortgages) that had a great importance in addition. The result is the analysis of individual impacts on the situation in 2006 (bursting the housing bubble). Second part analyzes the reaction of European economy and deals with Czech and German actions that have been taken by governments in order to lower the financial/ economical crises' impacts. Although both countries have significantly different economical structures, there were several steps that have several features in common (e.g. expansionary political actions). Last section deals with a possible correlation of financial crises and strengthening of European integration. European Union as an economical and political integration has provided an excellent opportunity to observe the (un)unified attitude towards global financial crisis. A great example would be inventing government guarantees for loans that commercial banks sold customers. This action has been taken in several countries only in order to avoid an outflow of capital from the country.
