Práce má za cíl zhodnotit postavení Evropské unie v současných mezinárodních ekonomických vztazích nejen z pohledu makroekonomických ukazatelů, ale i mezinárodního obchodu a investičních toků. Ke zhodnocení využívá především komparaci s dvěma hlavními ekonomickými centry současnosti (USA a Japonskem). Práce rovněž hledá odpovědi na nejaktuálnější otázky tím, že analyzuje dopady finanční a hospodářské krize na Evropskou unii a ekonomiky jejích členských států. The aim of the thesis is to evaluate a position of the European Union in present international economic relations not only from view of macroeconomic indicators but also from aspects of international trade and investment flows. To the evaluation it uses mainly confrontation with two main present-day economic centres (United States and Japan). At the same time the thesis tries to find responses to most actual questions in that it analyses impacts of financial and economic crisis on the European Union and economies of its member states.
