The Book in the Electronic Age
Beranová, Petra ; Brejcha, Jan (advisor) ; Šafaříková, Radana (referee)
Diploma thesis The Book in the Electronic Age deals with print and electronic book. Theory of convergence has been described at the first theoretical part. According to historical evidence, convergence supposed, media be not ejected each other, but their content has just to be changed. Another mentioned theory is remediation. It consists in way which new medium releases. New medium determines itself by borrowing characters of old medium and this content is being transform in terms what the new one needs. The chapter pointing on a strong tradition and an influence of book is concerned in letter print like power instrument. The next part describes print and electronic environment and also includes their differences not only from the perspective of user. History and princip of hypertext is outlined and there has been mentioned hypertext's potential in e-books as well. The newest way of reading electronic books are mentioned there. The theme of failure of e-book is also involved. The question about future of book appears in whole thesis.

Analysis of business opportunities in the market for rail passenger transport
Stepanenko, Karol ; Taušer, Josef (advisor) ; Černá, Iveta (referee)
European Commission sees further development of rail passenger transport as one of the main pillars for maintaining and further strengthening of competitiveness of Europe. With rail passenger transport, as a growth industry that connects all the other sectors, we can count on further economic development in future while preserving diversity and beauty of European fauna and flora as well as growth in living standards. It was found that the trends in the use of railways in the Czech Republic and advanced European countries are different. The paper assumes that the role of rail passenger transport in the Czech Republic will strengthen in accordance with trends in western countries. The paper analyses the Czech rail passenger transport market. The Prague -- České Budějovice route has been identified as the most suitable for entry of a new private operator. There are strong streams of passengers. After completion of the railway corridor the route will offer extension of activities onto the Austrian market. The paper analyses the competitive environment. The main competitors are RegioJet and LEO Express. The operator can compete using low-cost concept, especially EMU trains. High quality of offered services will also play an important role. Leasing was identified as the most convenient financial instrument. Strengths, weaknesses, opportunities and threats are summarized in the SWOT analysis.

Quality of life and life satisfaction of people living with HIV/AIDS in the Czech Republic
Urbánková, Olga ; Weiss, Petr (advisor) ; Bahbouh, Radvan (referee) ; Procházka, Ivo (referee)
This study explores aspects of quality of life (QoL) and how QoL is influenced by HIV/AIDS. Two years ago, in 2006, HIV/AIDS celebrated its 25th anniversary since it was discovered. Of these 25 years, the last ten years were dedicated to research on QoL. The rationale is that even though the emergence of antiretroviral therapy (HAART) has prolonged HIV positive people's lives, this alone is not sufficient to make one's life good. Consequently, it has become necessary to pay attention to the quality of this extended life. There has been, so far, only one research dedicated to QoL among HIV positive people in the Czech Republic. According to UNAIDS, about forty million people are infected with HIV globally. By the end of February 2008, the Czech Republic had 1081 reported cases; yet very little has been done in the area of research on QoL among Czechs who are HIV positive. One study done by Potribná in 2002, on QoL (mainly Health) after starting HAART, uncovered a strong need for research on the QoL among people living with HIV in the Czech Republic.

Employee Engagement
Štillerová, Aneta ; Tureckiová, Michaela (advisor) ; Reichel, Jiří (referee)
Employee engagement is a recent work attitude that was introduced among practitioners in the 90's of last century. Academic researchers accepted this new concept reservedly and discuss the actual contribution of the term to the work motivation theory. There can be identified several different approaches toward defining the term in the academic literature. Yet there is no general agreement on one single approach. At the same time the concept is a subject to objections, that it brings nothing new and extra above the existing work concepts, especially work satisfaction and organizational commitment. In my thesis I set myself an objective to answer a question whether the concept of employee engagement introduces new aspects of strong identification and activation to the work motivation theory. In the second chapter I compare employee engagement to the established work attitudes, namely to work satisfaction, organizational commitment, job involvement and organizational citizenship behaviour. By compilation of theoretical resources I demonstrate that employee engagement is distinct from the other work attitudes by its strong degree of employee identification and activation. Afterwards I define engagement on its own and strive for systematic classification of its concepts. Via compilation of theoretical...

Residential Complex in Brno - Komín
Petruš, Erik ; Jura, Pavel (referee) ; Pelčák, Petr (advisor)
Urban concept is respecting the shape of the site and was also influenced by the slope of the terrain. The proposed package consists of an integrated compact unit. The aim was to achieve a gain of urban character. Urban structure is based on three blocks surrounding public spaces and a cluster of detached houses capping shape in the overall context and creates a compact big city block with a common courtyard. The development is made up of two residential buildings in the west, 30 terraced houses in the middle and 5 detached houses in the northern part of the site. Urban form is in the direction of slope soaring lightened by changing the shape of a houses floor plans. Emphasis is placed on public space and social interaction of people. All residential units have solved the main entrance through shared public space. The whole concept corresponds with the height of buildings with a maximum of 3 floors, in order to maintain contact with residential parterre.

Voltammetric Determination of Flutamide at Screen-Printed Carbon Electrodes
Škvarla, Juraj ; Fischer, Jan (referee) ; Vyskočil, Vlastimil (advisor)
The paper deals with the electrochemical behaviour of flutamide at screen-printed carbon electrodes (SPCE) with the aim of optimizing conditions for their practical use in the in situ analyses. A stability of stock solution was verified and confirmed primarily. Then, an influence of pH, stirring time and flutamide concentration in the analyzed solution on the voltammetric behavior of flutamide were systematically studied using DC voltammetry and differential pulse voltammetry at SPCE. One well-developed voltammetric peak of flutamide was detected in the whole pH region investigated. The time of stirring appears to be of crucial importance for the result of measurements at all pHs. The longer time of stirring of the solution prior to measurements, the higher is the flutamide peak. Therefore, the time of stirring was set constant for the rest of measurements. The optimum conditions for voltammetric determination have been found in Britton-Robinson buffer pH 7.0 - methanol (9:1) for both DCV and DPV at SPCE. Concentration dependences were found to be linear for the range 1·10-6 - 1·10-4 mol·dm-3 and evaluable (but not reliable) up to 1·10-7 mol·dm-3 . Reached limits of quantification were 6·10-7 mol·dm-3 for DCV at SPCE and 8·10-7 mol·dm-3 for DPV at SPCE. The determination of flutamide in...

Revitalization Program of Floral Garden in Kromeriz
Havlík, Darina ; Pospíšil, Zdeněk (referee) ; Boháč, Ivo (advisor)
Revitalization of the foreland of the Floral Garden in Kromeriz Conteption of design is based on existing original compositional axis of historical parts of the Floral Garden. Newly proposed buildings supply a curent composition system in its symetrical form by situating of entrances and by emplacement of atractive functions to expressively attractive positions of view. Designed visitors centre fully respects original limits of task, its location is determined by border of historically built-up area. It maximally frees a space for full reconstruction of the Orange garden. Proposed solution uses organical forms, soft shapes, mirroring of the architectural objects in water surfaces and other elements of common landscape gardening to enrichment of historical areal. Horizontally placed matter of the designed object of visitors centre allows fully end up the dominant historical objects. Tinier architectural scale suitably reacts to Genius Loci of Floral Garden. The new visitors centre disposes with all of needed spaces for long-term and short-term exhibitions, educational activities, bookshop, souvenirs shop and spaces for relaxation. Important is also the high adaptability of the proposed solutions. For the reconstructed object of aviary, there is offered attractive and not common alternative utilisation in form of papillarium.

Environmental tracers (18O, 3H, CFCs, SF6) exploitation for study of mean residence time and flow pattern of dripping water and karst springs (Moravian Karst)
Bruthans, J. ; Zeman, Ondřej ; Jež, M. ; Himmel, J. ; Buzek, F. ; Melková, J. ; Oster, H. ; Geršl, M.
Mean residence time and flow pattern was studied in unsaturated zone of Ochoz Cave in southern part of Moravian Karst by means of 18O in the years 2001 to 2003. The results of study showed relatively long residence time in the unsaturated zone (about 50% komponent with residence time exceeding one year). The proportion components coming from different reservoirs were computed from two components (soil/epikarst; meltwater). The results clearly indicate, that more than 50% of water (nearly 100% in 2003) in dripping waters was derived from soil/epikarst water, which originate from (late) summer precipitations (heavy 18O content)! It means that infiltrating snowmelt water was expelling (by piston flow effect) the summer water from soil and/or epikarst. Water from snowmelt was then lost by evapotranspiration in summer time. If this effect is common in Langer period, it can change composition of d18O in dripping waters and hence also in dripstones precipitating from these waters.

NEW ON THE „OLD“ – Brno, Bratislavská - Stará Corner
Vašut, Štěpán ; Foretník, Jan (referee) ; Mléčka, Jan (advisor)
The nature of the territory, where the given plot is located is very specific. It is in close relation to Cejl Street, which was an important route between the town and Zábrdovice monastery in the past. The area is also largely affected by the eviction of the German people, after which a lot of empty apartments remained there. This district is basically in close relation to the city center and recently we can observe a great development, however, it often does not coincide with the interests of the local residents. Roma people have been pushed away from the city center. A couple of unique buildings where people know each other are located in this area. These houses are oriented into their courtyards, and the inhabitants there have created a relationship to their houses and to each other as well. The effort of this project is to design something similar. Its intention is to strengthen relationship between people.

Patients awareness before endoscopic examination
BERNÁTOVÁ, Ivana
Abstract Patients awareness before endoscopic examination This baccalaureate thesis deals with informedness of patients prior endoscopic examinations. The theoretic part deals with the issues of informing and preparing endoscopic examinations. Generally, informedness is a broad issue that can be discussed in professional circles as well as by the laic public. As the patient is considered an active element of the treatment process nowadays, informedness has gained an important role. This work tried to explain endoscopic methods, to map preparation for individual endoscopic examinations, and to stress the importance of information and communication skills when providing such information. Two objectives were set down. The first one was to find out the details about informedness of patients prior endoscopic examinations. The other one was to find out what method is used to inform patients prior endoscopic examinations. Two hypotheses were set down in the practical part. The first hypothesis is based on the presumption of sufficient patient informedness and it was defined as follows: Patients are informed sufficiently prior endoscopic examinations. The other hypothesis was based on a presumption defined as follows: The most frequently used method of informing patients prior endoscopic examinations is oral explanation. To find out about the current situation, the quantitative method using an anonymous questionnaire was employed. Only one kind of questionnaire containing 25 questions was used. The questions were closed, semi-closed and one open. Introductory questions were informative ones, the others focused on informedness prior an endoscopic examination and on the methods of providing information. A hundred questions were distributed at preselected wards at Nemocnice Tábor, a. s. (Hospital Tábor). The research group consisted of patients at the surgical, internal and gynaecological departments. The results were processed into graphs showing the percentage of the distribution of the respondents{\crq} answers. The discussion was assessed and compared with professional literature. At the end of this thesis, the project summation results are presented as well as confirmed or unconfirmed hypotheses and possible proposals that may lead executive workers to consider what ways could be taken in the future to better patient informedness prior endoscopic examinations.
