The fatherhood in novels of Milan Kundera

This thesis discusses the concept of fatherhood in the novels of Milan Kundera. The first part of the analysis focuses on initiation rituals leadings to the construction of the masculine identity and the future quality fatherhood; this thesis discusses unwanted fatherhood, the phenomenon of the missing father and the ethical aspects of the (non)fatherhood and the theme of fatherhood as a coming to terms with the world. I concentrate on the basic models od fatherhood in Kundera's novels, which bear a resemblance to archetypes of father. But it is less a typical archetypes analysis than a interpretative analysis combined with a resisting reading. This thesis compares traditional concepts with concepts od modern (feminist) science and applies it to Kundera's characters.
Non-profesional servers of literature

Summary: This dissertation whose title is Non - professional servers of literature is focused on theme of cretion of non - professional literature and on analysing czech websites where this literature is published. The aim of theoretical part in this dissertation is try to define non - professional literatutre and put it into system of literature. This study characterises particular servers of literature, specifically liter.cz, pismak.cz, poeta.cz, saspi.cz and totem.cz. The practical part contains completion of information, that was impossible to find out on described servers and it was achievd by using answers to questionnaires created for the editors of particular servers. Another goal of this study is to gain knowledge of what is important for the readers and authors, that published their works on these servers, and how they are satisfied with particular servers. A poet Ilse Weber and her destiny in the War II

The purpose of this study is to focus on the destiny of an unknown Jewish poet Ilse Weber (1903-1944). In the first part, the emergence of the Holocaust Literature is presented. The thesis then illustrates the history of the Jewish population in the Czech lands. The main attention is paid to the life and writings of Ilse Weber. She was born in Vítkovice near Ostrava and wrote in German, notably songs, fairy tales and theater pieces for children. During her imprisonment in the Terezín concentration camp she wrote around sixty poems, which were luckily saved. These writings describe the horror of her surroundings. Her husband and the older son survived the war, Ilse and the younger boy were sent to the gas chamber on arrival at Auschwitz in October 1944. In conclusion, the thesis argues that this forgotten poet was an admirable personality, who was able to grasp emotions and give hope to others in hard times. Berlin, the Cultural Metropolis in the 21st Century: From the Perspective of a German Studies Student.

The bachelor thesis focuses on culturally-orientated activities in Berlin in the past 20 years. That means from the reunification of Germany when Berlin, as the newly instituted capital city, became the political and cultural centre of the country. On the basis of sociological research conducted among German and international students of German Studies at the Humboldt University of Berlin, the author offers the youngest student generation's perspective on Berlin's culture of the past years including Berlin's theaters, festivals, multicultural Berlin, exhibitions and music production. The thesis aims to portray Berlin's cultural evolution all the way to its contemporary state. Keywords Berlin, Culture, Literature, Cultural events and a sociological survey.
Preparation of 19th century poetry for publishing (case study)

This thesis deals with 19th century Czech poetry editing. It outlines, among other things, the historical and social conditions of literature edition of this era and strives to point out all that could have affected the situation of the time and that could have subsequently been the cause of certain editing alterations. The author also tries to think of what a 19th century editor needed to know and consider; what mistakes could have been caused by human factor and/or the author's or external influences. On an example of a short poem from the first half of the 19th century, the thesis attempts to point out the proper and improper alterations together with their necessity or voluntariness.
Journey diary. Animated movie as a way of reflecting experience

The work is on reflection of experiences in a form of travel journal and analysis of methods used for transfering personal experiences in perspective of search for parallels between literature and fine art medium. In the chapter on applied works, author¨s own animated movie as way of reflecting experience from Barcelona.
Reflexion of the Spanish Civil War in the work of Ernest Hemingway and George Orwell

The Spanish Civil War was an extraordinary event that draught unprecedent attention of intellectuals all around the world. The wast majority of them took side of the Republicans. It was also the case of two writers whose works were marked by the greatest response and to some extent ifnluenced the reception of the conflict by our society. Ernest Hemingway and George Orwell came to Spain with different expectations, they each played in spanish drama distinct role and reflected their experience diversly, however they shared the belief that the Republic is a cause worth to be fighting for. The main objective of this bachelor thesis is to analyse the political message of two most important literal accounts that have been written on background of the Spanish Civil War, to describe the circumstances of their origins and publication and to account how the public in Spain, their home countries and also in Czechoslovakia react to them. Hemingway's novel For Whom the Bell Tolls and Orwell's Homage to Catalonia proof to be a testimony how strong is the bond between history and literature. The popular Spanish images depicted by writers such as Ernest Hemingway and George Orwell have not disappeared, only was overshadowed by Franco's dictatorship.
Characteristic of Czech great people in play "České nebe"

Considering the fact that this bachelor thesis concerns one of the plays of the Jára Cimrman Theatre wchich is based on the mystification, several theoretical information about the mystification is situated at the beginning of the thesis. The core of this thesis deals with the characters that appear in the 15th Jara Cimrman Theatre play - České nebe. The persons are important Czech personalities who are for various reasons admitted to the heavenly commission to decide about the faith of the Czech nation. They are: Jan Amos Komenský, Svatý Václav, forefather Čech, Jan Hus, Karel Havlíček Borovský, grandmother of Božena Němcová, marshall Radecký and Miroslav Tyrš (The last named are not in the heavenly commission. They enter there as guests). Each character is characterized from the perspective of the authors. This view is compared with the characteristics of the characters in the historical didactical guidbooks, in some cases the characteristic of the guidebook is applied to the play. At the end, the real characters from another Jára Cimrman Theatre plays (Blaník, Záskok, Afrika) are more generally characterized. Translation © sl. Kateřina Vokáčová
Bohumil Hrabal's Libeň

In my diploma thesis, I looked at part of Prague 8 - Libeň, in the kontext of the life and work of writer Bohumil Hrabal. I tried to show Libeň in the twentieth century, when the famous writer lived there. At first I made efforts to describe Bohumil Hrabal's life and Libeň, how we can find it in his books. Than I outlined the history of Libeň. In the main part I tried to show real locations in Libeň, which Bohumil Hrabal visited and he liked them. It was mainly Libeň castle, a lot of views of hills in Libeň, the vicinity of Vltava river and Rokytka brook and atmosphere of pubs in Libeň. The diploma thesis shows Libeň in last century especially in the kontext of Hrabal's trialogy Weddings in the house.
