Probabilistic Models and Methods for the Analysis of Sports Results
Rambousková, Daniela ; Saxl, Ivan (referee) ; Volf, Petr (advisor)
The statistical modelling on a sports field is in the process of a great development. Sports clubs have gradually changed into commercial companies and thus many possibilities how to take advantages of statistical instruments have emerged. Undoubtedly, the most popular task is the prediction of possible future results. The first part of this thesis summarizes the most interesting methods and types of solutions that were developed primarily for football matches. In this case the Poissons' regression models are mainly used. However, when the influences of time are taken into consideration, these models become more difficult and complicated for computations. The second part deals with the statistical survival analysis and random point processes and tries to find its utilization and connection with the predictions of the results of sports matches. On the basis of the Cox' regression model, a simple model for ice-hockey matches is derived here. This model estimates offensive and defensive forces of every team and other influences, for instance power plays and home environment. It describes the match as a random point process, where the time of scoring represents its random points. The model is applied on the data obtained from the first thirteen rounds of the Czech National Ice-hockey League and the received...

Visualization of the Chemical Space
Škoda, Petr ; Hoksza, David (advisor) ; Novák, Jiří (referee)
Exploration of chemical space is an important part of the drug discovery pro- cess and its importance grows with computation power which permits to explore greater parts of the chemical space. One of the possibilities of the exploration is vi- sualization. Currently, several method for visualization are implemented but there exists no framework focusing primarily on support of the development of new me- thods. In this work we summarized requirements for such framework and with respect to these requirement we implemented such framework. The framework is modular and offers easy implementation of every single part of the visualization pipeline. The framework incorporates an application that provides graphical in- terface for modules' manipulation and presentation of visualization results. For simple utilization of the application without the necessity of implementation of one's own module, several visualization methods have been implemented. These visualization methods were employed in experimental evaluation on both real and artificial datasets 1

Poetics of Jacques Prévert's work of art and the exploitation of his poetry in a French language education.
Hornišová, Martina ; Listíková, Renáta (advisor) ; Machleidtová, Silva (referee)
Title of the thesis: Poetics of Jacques Prévert's work of art and the exploitation of his poetry in a French language education. Keywords: poetics, French poetry, French chanson, poetic realism, surrealism, motivation Abstract: The aim of this thesis was to intercept and denote an artistic legacy in Jacques Prévert's work of art which has an overtime value and is capable with its themes of everyday life to also address the contemporary generations. The magic of Prévert's genius consists in his simple language that is spoken by common men, all the people use this language and thus, they could understand it well. A poet intensifies his legacy by series of examples and illustrations of everyday life that make his works accessible for everyone. In a thesis, we have primarily paid attention to the poetics of his large artistic creation by pointing on the particularity of his poetic language, the simplicity and accessibility of his work. Through Prévert's poetry and chanson, we have tried to present French language to teenage students in an inventive and creative way not only as a language itself, but also as a cultural heritage of the country. We elaborated pedagogical sheets in a practical part of a thesis aimed to serve as a methodological resource for the French language teachers.

Contributions to Volatile Compound Generation of Arsenic, Silver and
Musil, Stanislav
(EN) The presented dissertation thesis summarizes the results contained in five original research papers that were published in prestigious international scientific journals in the field of analytical chemistry and atomic spectrometry. It is devoted to the method of generation of volatile compounds using a tetrahydroborate reaction and detection in a quartz multiatomizer by atomic absorption spectrometry. The thesis can be divided into two thematic parts - speciation analysis of arsenic based on hydride generation technique with collection and separation in a cryogenic trap and generation of volatile species of transition metals. In the first thematic part pre-reduction of pentavalent inorganic and methylated arsenicals has been studied. A simple setup for on-line pre-reduction employing thioglycolic acid as a fast pre-reductant has been developed, connected with a current hydride generator and applied/verified to oxidation state specific arsenic speciation analysis of human urine samples. In the same method the possibility of drying the gaseous phase from water vapor has been investigated to avoid incidental blocking the cryogenic trap by frozen water and to decrease fluctuations of signal baseline. Pronounced losses of methylated species have been discovered on Nafion tube dryer currently used in...

Ownership of real property under Czech law
Škvára, Pavel ; Salač, Josef (advisor) ; Dvořák, Jan (referee) ; Uhlíř, David (referee)
1 Pavel Škvára Ownership of real estate in the Czech legal order Abstract The reasons, why I decided to choose as a topic of my dissertation, issues of ownership in the Czech legal code, it was just a few. In the first place, therefore, that the legal concept of property rights is seen in any democratic legislation, as the basic instrument governing private relations in society. And as such a fundamental tool must be properly treated in the legislative plane. The concept of the ownership, may seem at first glance a very clear and smooth, but the opposite is true. Really fine and perfectly understand this concept and to understand its theoretical structure, is not simple at all. In particular, on the grounds that many legal theorists interpret the content of the concept of ownership a little differently, and there was no agreement on the definition of unique match and the determination of the theoretical sources of this concept. Of course, in the case of authoritarian or totalitarian regimes is the institutes of the ownership in national legal systems often formally retained, but its content and form are often significantly modified. The aim of the thesis was also to focus on the issues of real estate. Real estate can be understood as a special group of things that have specific characteristics, are often...

Catholic song-propaganda in the Czech lands
Kvapil, Jan ; Stromšík, Jiří (advisor) ; Petrbok, Václav (referee) ; Kurzke, Hermann (referee)
The Dissertation considers the Catholic song propaganda of the early modern times. Its research is based on Bohemian literate and musical sources. The basic methods of the song-propaganda were actually invented by Protestants. The Catholic reformers were able to react to its influence through their own song-propaganda (for instance Leisentrit and Jesuits) and modernized and developed their own new methods with just a minute delay. The song-propaganda was an outstanding device for indoctrinating common people anyway because of their analphabetism. The main attention was focused on persuasive methods used in the songpropaganda by Catholic missionaries. These methods can be classified as follows: The repetitive method was the simplest one based on a simple reproduction of fundamental Christian texts (Lord's Prayer, Credo, Ave), religious dogmas (purgatory, confession, communion) and ideological doctrines (singularity of the Catholic Church) in a musical form. It was mainly applied in the catechesis. The songs inspired by this method were mainly addressed to children and youth. The exemplary method gives either positive or negative example people should or should not follow. These songs narrated mostly a life of a exemplary saint. They were very popular among children and therefore applied in catechesis. A more...

Modelling an Interconnected Economy- General Equilibrium and Matching Model Approaches
Dobrotková, Zuzana ; Boháček, Radim (advisor) ; Galeotti, Andrea (referee) ; Kamphorst, Jurjen (referee)
Modelling an interconnected economy - general equilibrium and matching model approaches (Abstract) Zuzana Dobrotková This doctoral dissertation consists of three theoretical articles with a com- mon interest in the creation of interconnections in an economy and the role of these interconnections in spreading bad shocks. The spread of bad shocks has been explored in economics literature mainly in the context of contagious bank runs but the following articles focus on different aspects of economy where the effects of deterioration of an economy's characteristics occur. Interconnections in economies are often necessary for production or they serve as an insurance tool but they at the same time expose the economy to a possible spread of damage. The mechanism is very simple. A negative shock that hits one agent in the economy can spread through interconnections in the economy, such as financial linkages between banks, supply linkages between firms, or personal linkages, like marriage, between agents. In the following models I study optimal creation of interconnections in two different types of economy and I also study properties of an interconnected economy in general equilibrium. In the first article I propose a general equilibrium model of an economy where firms are connected through supply linkages crucial for...

Distribution of ions at surfaces of hydrated proteins
Heyda, Jan ; Barvík, Ivan (referee) ; Jungwirth, Pavel (advisor)
By means of molecular dynamics simulations we have systematically investigated the behavior of positively charged amino acids - arginine, lysine, and histidine in salt solutions. Salt always contained potassium cation and anions from the halide group. Both simple salts and binary salt solutions were investigated. Primarily, we have quantified the level of interaction of anions with amino acids. Also, the interaction sites were defined together with their role in cumulative interactions. The interaction was quantified by means of density maps, contacts, and cumulative sums with respect to individual parts of the amino acid. All simulations were done both with nonpolarizable and polarizable force fields. A significant difference in behavior between fluoride and other halides was observed in all cases. Fluoride preferentially interacted with the charged part of amino acids, while interactions of other halides were spread over the whole amino acid.

Role of evolutional mechanisms in designing of acoustic signals
Rulfová, Alena ; Policht, Richard (advisor) ; Linhart, Pavel (referee)
Acoustic communication is a wide-spread phenomen in all animal taxones. The theme of evolutional mechanisms and their functioning in acoustic communication has become more and more frequently studied during last years, and geographic variation in acoustic signals has been reported in various taxa such as insect, birds, anurans and mammals. However, some evolutional mechanism still remain poorly understood. The mechanisms comprise mainly stochastics forces such as genetic drift and bottleneck or cultural drift. Genetic drift causes stochastic changes in acoustic signals, whereas bottleneck probably primarily spawns reduction of acoustic variability. Some acoustic parameters are shaped by habitat and others by species' phylogeny. Physical environment and other ecological factors play important role in shaping vocalizations in most species, and thus distantly related populations occupying similar habitats may possess very simmilar vocalization. Because of that, revealing phylogenetic pattern is possible only by careful cladistic analysis of vocal characters in taxa that have simple songs or calls that are not learned, and whose habitat distributions are well understood. By finding the proper acoustic parameters we can also e.g. map connection between acoustic divergence and glaciations, history of colonisation...
