Brázdová, Jitka ; Sýkora, Jan (advisor) ; Klípa, Ondřej (referee)
Jitka Brázdová This bachelor thesis deals with the Vietnamese population in the Czech Republic since 1989 and the aim is to find out what are the main reasons for immigration from Vietnam to The Czech Republic, whether any of them is dominant and why the Czech Republic is the final destination of Vietnamese migrants, who are seeking work abroad. This thesis deals also with the reasons why people leave Vietnam. This happens mainly due to the desire to improve an economic situation and find well-paying jobs. Immigration for work is highly supported by the Vietnamese government, which thus reduces the high unemployment rate, which Vietnam has suffered for a long time. The main reason for coming to the Czech Republic after reunification in 1989 is for the consolidation of families, when one has a member in CR. Nowadays, immigration is a business model for mediating agencies that recruit residents especially in poor areas of Vietnam and offer them work abroad. Poor people don't have enough information about local working condition and life in general and The Czech Republic has in Vietnam a reputation as a "paradise on the Earth" that is supported by the agencies. This phenomenon supports the fact that admitting failure in Vietnamese culture is considered disgraceful so those who fail in CR after...

Vávra, Jan ; Dušek, Libor (advisor) ; Kovanda, Lukáš (referee)
This thesis examines the effect of foreign nationality on the outcomes of criminal process in the Czech Republic. Foreign citizens are overrepresented by 2% compared to their share in population in all stages of the criminal process, suggesting possible discrimination by domestic authorities. Using rich case level datasets from 2005 to 2015 observed gaps are decomposed to part explained by a difference in the objective characteristics of the cases and unexplained part, suggesting possible inequality of treatment. Foreigner gaps in probability of charge, probability of conviction, probability of imprisonment, length of the sentence and probability of release from prison on parole are decomposed. Majority of observed disparities in the outcomes can be attributed to higher involvement of foreigners in more serious crimes compared to nationals. Unexplained disparities remain in probability of imprisonment and probability of release on parole, suggesting possible unequal treatment in these two outcomes.

Employment of the Foreigners in the Czech Republic
FIŠEROVÁ, Petra
Movement of citizens for work used to be and is a worldwide phenomenon {--} whether we consider moving of people for work within one country or between various countries. Since the beginning of the nineties, many foreigners have been coming to the Czech Republic with an intention to find work here and to improve therefore their living conditions. However, often they do not succeed to meet that goal as they wanted. In particular citizens from the former Soviet Union and various Asia countries do not find the best work conditions and assertion. If we do not mention illegal employment, even those who are employed legally often work for minimum salaries, in bad conditions and under continuous risk of expatriation. In this dissertation I focus on comparison of work conditions and work opportunities of citizens from so called Western countries and those from the former Soviet Union and South-Eastern Asia. Besides, in the theoretical part I endeavour to clarify the issue of so called client system which deteriorates strongly work conditions of citizens from the countries of the Confederation of Independent States and Russia.
