Insularity and connection in E.M. Forster's Howards End and A Passage to India

Howards End and A Passage to India, the two best known novels by E.M. Forster are quite different in theme and setting, but they have an important aspect in common. Both novels take place in a strictly divided society and they both deal with the insularity and narrow-mindedness of separate communities and their inability to reach beyond their own environment and experience. "Only connect ... ", an epigraph from Howards End, introduces one of the central themes of F orster' s writing. E. M. Forster strongly believed in the importance of personal relationships and in living a full, undivided life. That is, a life in which spiritual, physical, emotional and rational aspects are all in harmony. 1 In order to reach the desired harmony, one needs to establish connections not only between the spiritual and material life, but also on the level of personal relations. Forster is concerned with an individual's search for harmony, but also with finding harmony and overcoming fragmentation in the whole society. To reach such harmony, both within the self and within the society, is what the characters of his novels strive for. Complex Physiotherapy by the Deffective Posture of Body with Focus on Deep Stabilization System

The thesis deals with a very common and often discussed topic which is a theme of various medical branches. The thesis itself is aimed at deep stabilizing muscle system and its influence on imperfect posture. From early age, the development of muscles of deep stabilizing system and their coactivation play an important role in general posture. First of all, this muscle dyscoordination leads to a postural deficit in adulthood. The main task of my thesis is to describe the system both from anatomical and functional point of view and to explain about possible ways of influencing deep stabilizing muscle system by physiotherapical methods and modification of movement streotypes.

Subjective view of patiens to new procedures for treatment of alcohol dependence in comparison with previous aversive method

The theme of this work is women's addiction to alcohol and their subjective view of medical treatment in the context of their own treatment. This work is focused on the all-society problem of alcoholism, particularly for women. Subsequently on the inpatient treatment - in which principles worked previously and as currently conceived. This is a qualitative study in which women evaluated previously applied aversive approach and the current cognitive-behavioral model of treatment. There has been growing number of specialists for alcoholic treatment recently. There are many methods and approaches which are applied to the treatments. Currently, there are more significant therapeutic approaches helping people to deal with their risky emotions and various cognitive - behavioral methods and methods leading to enhancing motivation. Each person is individual and it is very difficult to develop such a therapy or set of treatments, which would suit to the growing number handicapped people.

Tábor - Town and its Journal

This work describes the life in the town Tábor in the second half of the 19th century. It is used the periodical Tábor as a major source. The town is specific from several points of view, the cultural effort and the limitation of czech nation originates i. a. from the Hussite tradition, the town was homogenous in nationality and relegion. A great deal of the work is dedicated to the fact, what was empasised and which topics were observed only in small scale and for which reasons. The periodical concerned chiefly on cultular life, the work is devoted to to the most improtant cultural and nation-making phenomenons of this age in Tábor {--} local theatre, singing club, Sokol organisation, sharpshooter´s club and an unconventional acession to education. Apart from that it is dedicated to to the influence of these agents on the nation {--} development process, followed by the awareness of Czech history, not only in Tábor. The nation and tradition are introduced as the top shelve themes in the cultural life of the society. The main characters of cultural life are introduced to the reader by mentions of famous personalities . Their activities built the nature of the Town for many years later. The changes, which the town went through in both levels {--} tangible and spiritual {--} are also noticed. The work concentrates on the reception of the Hussite tradion, which reinforced the Czech ethnic group gradually, during its transformation into modern nation.

Ecumenism in Tomáš Špidlík's literary work

RÉSUMÉ Ecumenism in Tomáš Špidlík's literary work The paper "Ecumenism in Tomáš Špidlík's literary work" aims to introduce the figure of this theologian, Jesuit and cardinal, to acquaint the reader with his view on spirituality of eastern Christianity and particularly with themes concerning ecumenism, of which the author is a prominent exponent. The paper is divided into three parts. The first one deals with ecumenism in terms of historical context. It shows the moments when the church divided and new separate churches were born. It emphasizes the formation of ecumenical movement and the second Vatican council, which was one of the greatest ecclesiological councils and also a council of ecumenism. The second part focuses on the person of cardinal Tomáš Špidlík, his personal growth and circumstances that eventually led him to the eastern spirituality. The third part concerns ecumenism in Tomáš Špidlík's literary work. It concentrates on eastern spirituality in the point of view of T. Špidlík and eastern authors that influenced him. It shows the diversions and connections between western and eastern churches, e.g. the Trinity which examples the unity, and Mary, who is a bridge between the East and the West. Social rehabilitation for adults with learning disabilities in program of wool processing

My work is based on theme psychological aspects that are significant in social services social rehabilitation adults with learning disabilities for their individual development and motivation. Research is led by question about importance of employment this people. I am interested in relationships and if happens to change of life style or personality after start in employment. These questions are reflected through analysis of literature connected with these topics. Also with support in theoretical platform I designed own implement for measuring. I made 4 interviews with service user social rehabilitation in Textilní dílna Gawain. All procured data are proceed through analysis and is found some categories fully connected with measured sphere. Main conclusion from this research is that social rehabilitation brings contributions in sphere of development individuality adults with learning disabilities, main in development of confidence, self-confidence, responsibility, independence, self-knowledge, empathy, social and communication skills and self-fulfilment. These contributions are result of satisfying needs with employment. Another gain of the research is in open next questions related with this theme.

Melancholy in the poetry of Antonín Sova

The main theme of this thesis is a literary motive of melancholy in the poetry of a Czech poet Antonín Sova. The end of 19th century and the beginning of 20th century we can consider as a specifically melancholic and it is possible to see it especially in pieces of writing of many authors. The rare situation happened in the Czech lands. The Czechs were ready to deal with new issues, but their expectation did not come true. The frustration of all the situation is noticeable mainly in works of Czech decadents, but we can also see it in the poetry of Antonín Sova. It is obvious in his Vybouřené smutky and then in Ještě jednou se vrátíme... which follows and we chose it as a basic text for our interpretation of melancholic motive in Sova's poetry. It was published in time of culminating expectations of some changes in the field of social situation, which was becoming unbearable. It is impossible to omit melancholic feeling in Ještě jednou se vrátíme..., but it is somehow modified, especially in his lyric poetry, which does not sound unambiguously tragical, but on the contrary it offers particular hopes. The aim of dissertation is to provide to schoolchildren a contact with a direct surroundings of the school and a place of residence. Problems of the Managed Care

The main theme of the thesis is managed care system description and definition. The first part is focused on managed care history, development in this system, and types of organizations providing this medical and hospital services. There is also chapter concerned with problems of resource management and managed care quality. The next chapter describes medical and health services and managed care in the USA, the only country offering these services in free mareket economy. For comparison in the next chapter there are presented someEuropean states, which try to introduce managed care as a tool for reduction of redundant and duplicate health services costs, include Czech Republic. At the conclusion, the comparison of some economic indicator of medical and health services among some European contries and the USA has been done.

The Effect of Personal Causality Orientation on Adherence in Outpatient Physiotherapy

(in English) This master thesis deals with themes of motivations and compliance to treatment recommendations in outpatient physiotherapy. In the theoretical section it brings an introduction to the issue of adherence as a part of medical rehabilitation. It sheds some light on the importance of the research in this field and structures its span according to prescribed diagnoses and other criteria. It also shows distinctions in concepts of compliance, concordance and adherence and summarizes the findings of the most relevant directions of motivation research in this area of study. The aim of the empirical part is to capture relations between the distribution of patients' personal causality orientation and their adherence to treatment. Based on the results of a DOPO method, self-assessment of adherence and evaluation of adherence by the treating physiotherapist, from the sample of 69 patients it concludes, that there is no statistically significant relation between the aforementioned variables.
