The position of women and "women question" in late Victorian and Edwardian society
Tumis, Stanislav ; Kovář, Martin (advisor) ; Skřivan, Aleš (referee) ; Halada, Jan (referee)
The position of women in British society at the turn of the 19th and 20th centuries was influenced by the traditional conservative ideas which allocated their place in "private (domestic) sphere"; these views continued to have in Britain considerable influence and they were moreover supported by the new ideologies of social darwinism, social maternalism or eugenics. At the same time the influence of representatives of liberal, democratic ideas, the so called new people advocating women emancipation in all spheres of life largely grew. It is not possible to perceive the end of Victorian and Edwardian era as a period in which the modern ideas on women position in society succeeded; on the contrary old conservative concepts though often in new context and another "more moderate" version had the support of the majority of British society, including women. The main reason why the feminists failed to enforce their radical claims at the turn of the 19th and 20th centuries lied in the fact that women movement was confined largely to the liberal elites of middle classes and failed to obtain wider support.

Subcarpathian Ruthenia within Czechoslovakia in 1933-1939. Autonomy and state forming efforts
Hurný, Róbert ; Doubek, Vratislav (advisor) ; Kocian, Jiří (referee)
Subcarpathian Ruthenia within Czechoslovakia in 1933-1939. Autonomy and stateforming efforts Subcarpathian Ruthenia was an integral part of Czechoslovakia in the interwar period. On the basis of the peace treaty contracted in Saint-Germain-en-Laye (Septem ber 10, 1019) and the Constitution of the Czechoslovak Republic (February 29, 1920), Subcarpathian Ruthenia should have had an autonomous position in the political-juridi cal system of Czechoslovakia, its autonomous council and an autonomous government corresponding to the council. The central government in Prague was hesitating to impo se a real autonomy of Subcarpathian Ruthenia within the republic because it did not demonstrate satisfying political, national, confessional and economic conditions and represented a continual threat of irredentism from various Carpathoruthenian elements and revisionism emerging from the neighbouring states - mainly Hungary. The central government established it only after Munich Agreement which considerably weakened Czechoslovakia as for its power. The government made an effort to consolidate Cze choslovakia by declaring autonomy of Slovakia and Subcarpathian Ruthenia. This had not happened until the moment when Czechoslovakia was on its way to cease. These autonomous tendencies had its place in a compex game...

Physiological development of posture and movement in pre-school children - vestibular apparatus
Bočínská, Helena ; Zounková, Irena (advisor) ; Syslová, Jana (referee)
This work is aimed at the development of posture and movement in pre-school children. Specific focus is placed on the control of posture and movement of vestibular apparatus. The study is drawn upon thorough research of Czech and English literature; and initially, some information was gained from foreign articles published in electronic magazines. The study concerns pre-school children and its emphasis is hence put on this particular period of human development. In presented findings, particular focus is put on anatomy, embryology, and neurophysiologic aspect of vestibular apparatus. The overview is chronologically structured and goes from prenatal to pre-school stage. The impact of vestibular apparatus on development of movement is reflected in consequent improvement of motoric skills. The work focuses on the impact of vestibular system on the control of posture in pre-school children, and its increasing responsibility for control of posture and movement in relation with visual sensory and somatosensoric system. The case study concerning motorics of healthy children serves as a useful tool in verifying the findings about the impact of vestibular apparatus on the control of posture. Adaptace adolescentů na prostředí středních škol
Izdný, Radomír
ABSTRACT The thesis is focused on facilitating the adaptation of students of the first years of apprenticeship by the entering the first year of a secondary school. The aim of this study is to design the most appropriate adaptation activity based on research carried out. Adolescence, its individual periods, physical and psychological changes an adolescent goes through, are described in the first, theoretical part. The transition from primary school to secondary school is challenging for pupils because of many reasons and is linked with varying degrees of stress. Aspects of successful adaptation and individual adaptation activities suitable for children are described in the thesis. The function of adaptation courses and their history is described in the study. The Study of literature, analysis of the acquired information, their synthesis and comparison were used. The questionnaire method was used in the practical part. Respondents were pupils of the first years at the Secondary school of crafts and services in Velké Meziříčí. The survey examined the greatest problems of the current pupils while entering the school. The data for designing the most appropriate adaptation activity for pupils of this school were obtained by evaluating and analyzing the acquired information. The conclusions drawn from the practical part are intended for management of the mentioned secondary school, but it also could be used as an instruction or a model for schools of a similar type.

English verbal (pseudo-) compounds from a diachronic viewpoint
Vráblová, Zuzana ; Čermák, Jan (advisor) ; Klégr, Aleš (referee)
We attempted to analyze not only the diachronic development of pseudo-compound verbs (or rather tendencies in the historical development because we excluded the Early Modern English period from our research), but also the synchronic problems in the Old and Middle English periods. But a fully consistent and balanced analysis proved impossible due to a variety of objective reasons. First, even though a fairly large number of Old English texts (i.e. 3037) survived into Modern English, we have no evidence as to how much texts were actually compiled in that period. The number of Middle English texts in CME is extremely low (i.e. 146). (What might seem puzzling is that Old English records surpass the Middle English ones. But it is due to the fact that CME has not been finished yet.) This unbalance of available texts makes any comparison between pseudo-compound verbs in Old and Middle English highly inaccurate. Second, Old English literature is to a very large extent homogeneous, consisting almost entirely of religious texts. Middle English writers compiled also other types of texts (e.g. secular prose and secular poetry). Nevertheless, it is impossible to draw a definite conclusion about the use of pseudo-compound verbs in various kinds of literature unless all Middle English texts are incorporated into CME....
