Models and statistical analysis of record processes
Tůmová, Alena ; Volf, Petr (advisor) ; Hlubinka, Daniel (referee)
In this work we model the historical development of best performances in men's 100, 200, 400 and 800m running events. We suppose that the years best performances are independent random variables with generalized extreme value distribution for minima and that there is a decreasing trend in location. Parameters of the models are estimated by using maximum likelihood techniques. The data of years best performances are missing for some years, we treat them as right censored data that are censored by value of world record valid at that time. Graphic tools used for models diagnostics are adjusted to the censoring. The models we get are used to estimate the ultimate records and to predict new records in next years. At the end of the work we estimate several models describing historical development of years best performances for more events at one time.
Comparison of maximum heart Rate while running, on a bycikle ergometer and swimming.
Májková, Tereza ; Radvanský, Jiří (advisor) ; Slabý, Kryštof (referee)
Theoretical part of this thesis is focused on a heart rate, especially its parameters, measurement methods and regulation. Moreover describes maximal heart rate issue. Practical part was performed as an experimental measurement of maximal heart rate level of 40 healthy adult probands (20 men and 20 women) between the ages of twenty and forty. Maximal heart rate was measured by telemetry meter FT4 Polar ® in 3 types of exercise tests - running, ergometer cycling and swimming. Results were statistically processed. Study confirmed significant differences in maximal heart rate during running, ergometer cycling and swimming. Highest heart rate was reached while running for 95% of measured volunteers and the lowest heart rate was reached during swimming for 98% of probands. The objective of this thesis was a comparison of reached heart rates during different exercise tests and highlight the evidence of dissimilar maximal heart rate during different exercises. Title: Organization of voluteers at the RunTour running series Objectives: The main objective of this diploma thesis is to evaluace the satisfaction of volunteers and organizers with the volunteer program on the running series RunTour and to suggest possible recommendations for its improvement. Methods: As part of the qualitative survey, the method of in-depth interviews was used, which took place with the coordinator of the volunteer program and with the heads of selected sections. Furthermore, a quantitative method of electronic interrogation was applied. The research was complemented by observations made by the author of the thesis, who personally participated in all races. Results: The research shows that most volunteers and organizers evaluate the volunteer program very positively. However, research has identified several areas where there is room for improvement. These are the areas of organization, communication and refreshments. Keywords: running, volunteering, volunteers management, satisfaction, sport events, organization
Sexual dimorphism in tibial loading during human locomotion
Dvořáková, Barbora ; Hora, Martin (advisor) ; Friedl, Lukáš (referee)
Locomotion is one of the most important qualities of man and has always been associated with survival, foraging ans subsistence. During the course of evolution, men and women developed some form of gender specialization which resulted in different level of mobility between the sexes. Throughout history, the types of subsistence have changed and the degree of sedentism has increased. However, despite all the changes in subsistence, gender specialization and bone robusticity sexual dimorphism in the robusticity of the lower limb bones remained surprisingly stable. Is it possible that women load lower limb bones differenty than men (e.i. due to different body proportions)? The aim of this work is to determine wheter there is sexual dimorphism between the sexes of the recent living population in the cross-sectional properties of the tibia and in the load on the tibia during running. In this work we used images of the tibia from magnetic resonance imaging and kinematic and kinetic data during the run of 20 probands. By using musculoskeletal modeling we estimated the bending moment acting at 50 % of the tibial length as well as the angle of action of this moment. After adjusting for size, no significant difference was found in the results of cross-sectional geometry of the bone in any of the monitored...
Evaluation of Common Injuries and Determinants of Participation in the Programme of a Running Institution
Rejzková, Dominika ; Pavlů, Dagmar (advisor) ; Vomáčková, Helena (referee)
Thesis title: Evaluation of Common Injuries and Determinants of Participation in the Programme of a Running Institution. Aim of the thesis: The aim of the research is to evaluate the most common injuries for women in an amateur running organization and their possible causes. The partial goal is to evaluate key determinansts of female runners' enrollment in the training courses. Methods used: The diploma thesis contains theoretical knowledge acquired from Czech and foreign literature. In the work, the method of questionnaire survey was used which covered female runners in a selected amateur running organization. In total, 106 questionnaires were evaluated using Microsoft Excel and its functions. Results: Out of the total of 106 female runners, 38 were injured, representing 35.8 %. The most common injury in a selected running organisation were ankle distortions (34.2%), further, painful lower leg syndrome (23.7%) and, in the 3rd place, muscle injuries (21.1 %). Among the most common causes of injuries was stepping wrong, as well as uneven surface or a significant increase in the running distance. The key determinants of female runners' enrollment in training courses included "compelling myself to regular running", improving physical condition, improving running technique and losing weight. Keywords:...
Myodynamics of the support phase during different take-off tasks in human locomotion
Hojka, Vladimír ; Jelen, Karel (advisor) ; Otáhal, Jakub (referee) ; Kampmiller, Tomáš (referee)
Title: Myodynamics of the support phase during different take-off tasks in human locomotion Objectives: Six types of take-off movement were analyzed in terms of support limb kinematics, take-off dynamics and muscle activation, in order to identify differences in motor control. Methods: 14 male athletes (22.6 ± 4.4 years; 182.4 ± 5.3 cm; 74.7 ± 6.2 kg) took part in laboratory experiment. Each athlete performed six different take-off movements (running, acceleration - first and second step, long jump take-off, high jump take-off and take-off to the hurdle). System Qualisys was used to analyze kinematics of the support limb. Dynamic of the suport phase was measured with Kistler 9281 EA force- plate. ME6000 apparatus was used to measure the muscle activation. Results were processed and statistically evaluated in Matlab (MathWorks, Inc) environment. Pair ANOVA, T-test and Friedmann test were performed to identify differences between take-off movements. regression analysis was introduced to find the relationship between parameters. Results: Significant differences in take-off dynamics are realized with not so significant differences in kinematic and electromyographic parameters. high jump and long jump take-offs acted most specifically in comparison with other types of take-offs. Two typically...
