The Role and Position of the Revolutionary Union Organisation in the Economy of Czechoslovakia in the 1980s
Wolf, Vojtěch ; Chalupecký, Petr (advisor) ; Szobi, Pavel (referee)
The paper's objective is to analyze the work of the Revolutionary Union Organization (ROH) in the Czechoslovak economy of the 1980s. The basic thesis of the paper is the assumption that ROH bodies preferred the interests of the representatives of the Czechoslovak Communist Party to those of workers. The relationship is analyzed on the basis of the employment legislation of the time and the impact of the union organization in its drafting. The paper also examines the contribution of the union organization in the course of the revolutionary changes in Czechoslovak society in the late 1980s and early 1990s. The analysis is based on a critique of sources from that era and a comparison of the role of the ROH in the 1980s and the role of the unions during Prague Spring. On the basis of the objectives set for this paper, the conclusion is that the ROH did have an impact on the work lives of working people, but its leadership lacked funds and, above all, the willingness to effectively protect the interests of working people. Hence, until December 1989, the ROH remained an organization serving, above all, the interests of the Communist Party.

The second part describes a current structure of the Spanish financial system and component entities operating within its framework structured from a point of supervising institutions. The last and crucial chapter is focused on reforms of the Spanish banking sector which have got no parallel in a modern history of the country. Restructuring and consolidation of the banking sector have been primarily carried out by mergers of traditional savings banks which became vulnerable during a period of an international liquidity crisis and an excessive exposure to the construction industry and real estate developments. I explain reasons for reforms, their starting points, progresses and difficulties during the restructuring processes. Economic analysis of profitability of restructuring of Czech sugar factories
Vajdík, Jiří ; Chytil, Zdeněk (advisor) ; Špecián, Petr (referee)
The first part of the study describes European sugar policy as a basis of analysis. Than it analyses costs and earnings of Czech sugar factories in the years 2006 -- 2009. For the following years 2 alternative predictions of profit development have been made; one supposes sugar price stagnation and the other its decrease. In the seventh year after the supposed start of restructuring the company is acknowledged on the basis of the "Free Cash -- Flow to the Equity" model. The study, taking the company Eastern Sugar Czech Rep. as an example, also calculates the profit that restructuring of the sugar factory would bring. The second part of the study analyses the convenience of restructuring Czech sugar factories in the years 2006 and 2007. The author assumes on the basis of the fact, that only one company closed its sugar factories, inexpedience of the restructuring process. The empirical part of this thesis tries to verify this hypothesis. The analysis is done by calculating net value of future financial flows. The profit loss due to restructuring that the study discounts by a risk free interest rate represents the costs. The sugar house profits in the monitored years and the company value in the seventh year after restructuring start represent the earnings. The earnings are discounted by an alternative cost of own capital, published by the Ministry of Industry and Trade every year. In the end of empirical part the thesis confirmed its assumption about inexpedience of restructuring process in all assumed scenarios excepting beginning of restructuring process in 2006 even as sugar price falling to average level of the first two months of the year 2010.

Černý, Jan ; Pinkas, Otakar (advisor) ; Šmejkal, Ivo (referee)
The aim of this bachelor's dissertation is to characterize and specify problems of Local Area Networks. Its first part summarizes the essential theoretical basis that is necessary for comprehension and understanding of the main part of the dissertation which describes a particular case of cooperation with an unnamed transnational company. The theoretical introduction gives the description of the defining characteristics and the classification of computer networks, then it describes the reference model ISO/OSI, and the characteristics of some active pieces of equipment, such as a HUB, SWITCH or ROUTER. In the main part of the dissertation, there is a detailed description of the restructuring of IT and the network infrastructure of a Czech branch office of the transnational company. The task given by the company was to restructure their IT and network infrastructure, to conceive a plan, realize the solutions, and, in case of necessity, to do and complete the installation or configuration. The objectives were fulfilled according to the demands of the head of the Czech office, as well as according to the instructions of the IT department of the company headquarters in Switzerland. At the beginning of the main part of the dissertation there is a description of the initial stage of the IT infrastructure of the Czech branch office before the demand for its development was asked for. Then all the steps of dealing with the tasks are described in detail and the new conditions of the upgraded IT and network infrastructure are described and assessed. The final part of the dissertation is a mix of theoretical and practical block describing the Cisco operating system. There is a short theoretical characteristic and several examples of the possible configuration of swithes and routers in a simulated realization of possible solutions in local area network of a smaller company with the help of the application called Packet Tracer. The last example simulation is aimed at a virtual LAN (VLAN) configuration with the use of two switches and a virtual "trunk" ant its security.
