Forum theatre: possible applications with children and youth

This diploma thesis deals with the possible applications of the dramatic method called Forum theatre in the work with children and teenagers. The theoretical part is divided in to three chapters and where the first chapter introduces Forum theatre. The second chapter describes the formation of the Theatre of the Oppressed concept, whose main technique is the examined method. The third part provides a detailed description of the method including the aims, rules a principles for the role of a Joker. The second part of the thesis examines the relationship of the method towards the educational system of the Czech Republic. Concretely it deals with the key competences, personal and social education a dramatic education. The aim of this thesis is to map the current state of the usage of the method, to determine who, whit what goals and with what susses uses the method. Than the original concept, developed by Augusto Boal for work with adults is confronted with the currently used variations of this method. Based on this analysis some principles, which might be used in the future practice are set. Conception of cross-curricular subjets in natur science subjects at secondary school.

The task of contemporary education is not only to equip pupils with skills and knowledge, but to give them postures and values as well. That is one of the goals of the so-called cross-curricular subjects, which were brought by the education reformation accomplished several years ago. This area is as new for many teachers as it is for pupils and that is the reason why this master thesis was created. It provides basic information about cross-curricular subjects and supplies options for their practical implementation in the education. The theoretical section aims at the characterization of Czech and foreign cross-curricular subjects and their mutual comparison. The research section, among others, contains practical suggestions interconnecting the cross-curricular subjects with natural sciences education, and some of them have been verified in practice. Questionnaire survey follows, finding out the position of high school students towards the cross-curricular subjects and towards key-competence developing activities. Students also expressed their opinion on the practical suggestions application during education in this survey. In conclusion of the study, the observed results were evaluated and compared with the literature and author's opinions.
Personal and social education in a constructivist-oriented teaching of mathematics at the 2nd level of primary school

This thesis addresses the use and inclusion of cross-cutting theme of personal and social education in the constructivist-oriented mathematics teaching. The thesis has two main objectives, to describe the scope for personal and social education in mathematics teaching and to suggest learning activities that show interlinking of these regions. The main section is being created by these activities. All have been tested in practice and subsequently evaluated.
Eligibility of primary school pupils to manage their time

The topic of this thesis is procrastination. Procrastination is "the illogical, but deliberate delaying of planned action, which is accompanied by a commitment to alternative activities." (Sliviaková 2010, p. 3). Occasional procrastination however mostly harmless is only a small step from procrastination chronic. Chronic procrastination already points at undesirable situation, the malfunction of a healthy lifestyle and self-control. That view is the starting point for the research work of the problem, which investigates the symptoms of procrastination among primary and secondary school pupils. Procrastination is usually being considered in relation to adults' behaviour. The question asked is whether it is relevant to consider procrastination also in relation to children at primary school. In the theoretical part, we therefore first gathered and compiled the available data about the topic from various Czech and foreign sources, mainly to define with necessary precision the object of the study (procrastination) and learned the wider context of the issue (time management, self- management). Diploma thesis Utilization of weekly diary for developing personal competences of primary school pupils deals with strategies of development of pupils' social and personal competences, namely with fulfilling the chosen goals of personal and social education in primary school. The theoretic part of my thesis proves the meaning of the goals of personal and social education and lists the possibilities of their realisation in primary school. The thesis is farther concerned with the development of the key competences with the help of personal and social education and its methods. I concentrate on the meaning of the individualisation in pupils' education and the means of the development of reflective skills in a heterogenous class. The empirical part is an teacher's action research in its character. It presents a description of an authentically created process of the introduction of Weekly diary method to the work of primary school pupils'. Literary workshop by leisure time educators - selected works by children´s book author Markéta Zinnerová

Abstract This dissertation is aimed at exploring the utilization of select works by children's book author Markéta Zinnerová in literary education. The selected texts all feature a child protagonist in a difficult life situation with regards to their immediate or wider family circle. The vantage point was primarily the ouvre of M. Zinnerová, particularly the titles Indiáni z Větrova ('The Indians from Větrov'), Tajemství proutěného košíku ('The Secret of the Woven Basket'), and Kde padají hvězdy ('Where Stars Fall'). The dissertation is divided into a theoretical and a practical part. The theoretical part contains first a description of the general characteristics of narrative prose from the life of children with an emphasis on the issues of personal and social education. Furthermore, it focuses in detail on the utilisation of prose in literary education in primary schools, the methodology and different types of literary analysis and the insertion of all these activities into the relevant curriculum. The practical part deals with concrete classical and activising methods of application with regards to select texts from M. Zinnerová's works. The aim of the dissertation was to create work sheets based on excerpts from the prose of this author and to test them in practice in the environment of an after-school care centre where primary school children were to engage with them. This part of the dissertation describes said work sheets as well as the procedural methodology and the reasoning behind their creation. The work sheets were used when working with 3rd -grade school children in an after-school care centre. The ways in which they cooperated with us and were captivated by the texts, as well as the precise way in which the activities involved in working with the proposed sheets proceeded are described in the following chapter of the practical part. The concluding reflection upon the utilisation of the work sheets proposes certain possible corrections, expansions or other possible uses of these work sheets.
Personal characteristics and social education as a part of languages being taught at primary school

The thesis is focused on the description of Personal and Social Education as a subject in teaching languages in primary schools. It describes the changes in the educational system of the Czech Republic and deals with the explanation of Personal and Social Education in different contexts. The aim is to determine how teachers understand targeted integration of this topic and how they work with it during language lessons. The results of how teachers perceive this subject, how it is classified and how they are successful in achieving the goals specified in the FEP are also part of this work.
Beekeeping as leisure activities and its share in personality and social education of children and young people

The thesis focuses on a beekeeping hobby group as a leisure-time activity which not only develops and deepens interest in a specific area, but also focuses on the development of social and personal skills and competencies which are needed not only for future work in beekeeping, but also for solving difficult situations in the working life and in the personal life of children and the youth. The theoretical part describes key terms needed for understanding the following part of the thesis. It also characterizes beekeeping hobby groups in general. The source of information in this part are two questionnaires. The first one was sent out by the leader of a beekeeping hobby group, Mr Oldřich Suchohradský, in 2011, the second one was sent out by the present author a year later. The last chapter of the theoretical part, which is also the last chapter of this bachelor thesis, describes the structure of a number of selected meetings of a particular beekeeping hobby group ? they are described in greater detail in the appendices. In the practical part (in the individual appendices), the present author attempts to present a methodical instrument for leaders of beekeeping hobby groups. Its main concern are the basic skills and competencies belonging to personal and social education. This methodological section has two parts. The first part briefly describes the skills and competencies which were the focus of the selected meetings. The latter part deals with the place of the particular skills and competencies in the programme of a hobby group. It presents model meetings of a beekeeping hobby group which are structured so as to facilitate both the the transfer of beekeeping skills and competencies and the development of personal and social competencies. The main goal of using these model meetings is to enable a beekeeping hobby group to facilitate, supplement and deepen the development of the individual components of a child?s personality.
Implementing personal and social education in primary school education

For the fifth year running, personal and social education (PSE) has been a part of primary school curriculum in the Czech Republic. This study examines how this cross-curricular subject is dealt with in six different primary schools. The theoretical part describes the history of PSE, its objectives, methods of implementation, principles, its position in primary school curriculum and its relationship to other cross-curricular subjects. The research part contains a study of the school curriculum of six primary schools from the point-of-view of PSE, an analysis of questionaires for observer of educational units working with PSE objectives and an analysis of self-examining questionaires for the teachers of these units.
