Automatic linking of lexicographic sources and corpus data
Bejček, Eduard ; Lopatková, Markéta (advisor) ; Horák, Aleš (referee) ; Žabokrtský, Zdeněk (referee)
Along with the increasing development of language resources - i.e., new lexicons, lexical databases, corpora, treebanks - the need for their efficient interlinking is growing. With such a linking, one can easily benefit from all their properties and information. Considering the convergence of resources, universal lexicographic formats are frequently discussed. In the present thesis, we investigate and analyse methods of interlinking language resources automatically. We introduce a system for interlinking lexicons (such as VALLEX, PDT-Vallex, FrameNet or SemLex) that offer information on syntactic properties of their entries. The system is automated and can be used repeatedly with newer versions of lexicons under development. We also design a method for identification of multiword expressions in a parsed text based on syntactic information from the SemLex lexicon. An output that verifies feasibility of the used methods is, among others, the mapping between the VALLEX and the PDT-Vallex lexicons, resulting in tens of thousands of annotated treebank sentences from the PDT and the PCEDT treebanks added into VALLEX. Lexical Variability in Czech of the Mid-19th Century (Based on the Correspondence of Karel Havlíček)
Rybová, Martina ; Martínek, František (advisor) ; Saicová Římalová, Lucie (referee)
This bachelor thesis analyses the variety of lexical mediums in the Karel Havlíček's correspondence. The aim of this work is to identify the variation of closed classes of words. Individual terms have been selected from Havlíček's correspondence and they have been analysed. The main part of this work deals with secondary preposition that was stabilised in Czech during 19th century. It particularly focuses on the competition between used prepositions. The next part of the work deals with conjunctions. The overview of expression used in the correspondence is presented on the example of relation between sentences. The penultimate part of the work deals with variety of particle function. The grammatical particle is unsettled when we compare it with conjunctions and prepositions. Chosen terms are compared with 19th century secondary literature, they are valued according to its style, frequency and usage in either formal or informal correspondence. The last part of the work is dedicated to adverbs. This work also deals with borders between said word classes, criteria of grammatical processes and transition between word classes.

Multiword expressions in Italian
Jungwirthová, Klára ; Štichauer, Pavel (advisor) ; Obstová, Zora (referee)
The main topic of this thesis are the multiword expressions in the italian language. The thesis is divided into two parts - the theorical and the empirical part. The theorical part deals with the multiword expressions, the syntagmas and the idiomatic expressions. In the empirical part the connections between the constituents of the multiword expressions will be researched. Than four criteria will be on the multiword expressions applied (head inflection, insertion of the head's modifiers, pronominalisation of the head and dislocation and topicalization of the head). These transformations will be verified with the aid of corpora and questionnaires. Depending on the results of this research will be decided if the multiword expressions resemble the syntagmas or the idiomatic expressions.

Adjectival networks. On the grammar of French denominal adjectives
Strnadová, Jana ; Štichauer, Pavel (advisor) ; Radimský, Jan (referee) ; Namer, Fiammetta (referee)
in English This dissertation studies su xal derivation of adjectives from nouns in French. It is based on a lexicon of about 15, 000 adjectives, 40% of which may be considered deno- minal. I rst present the data under investigation. I describe the Dénom database, which was derived from large scale lexica. In order to assess the position of denominal adjectives in the more general adjectival system, I present a classi cation of French adjectives on the basis of their morphological properties. In the process, I spot cases where the fringes of the class of denominals are unclear, and question the distributional and semantic co- hesion of the class. I nally review di erent types of formal or semantic mismatches between the adjective and its base noun. In a second step, I present a study of the formal and semantic properties of a subset of denominal adjectives where the morphological relation between base and derivative is regular. This subset is selected on the basis of the type frequency of formal patterns of alternation between base and derivative. I describe the phonological and morpholo- gical properties of base nouns, with the aim of uncovering factors that play a role in the formation of adjectives. This leads to the observation of morphological niches, that is, cases where the presence of a...
Feminization of agentive nouns in present-day French
Rytinová, Aneta ; Štichauer, Jaroslav (advisor) ; Loucká, Hana (referee)
(in English) The major aim of the thesis is to investigate the different ways of making feminine equivalents to masculine names of professions, titles and ranks based on the data acquired from French and Canadian press archives. Furthermore, the study explores the history of certain frequent feminine forms to analyse the evolutionary changes and, in particular, presents the view of the French-speaking public on this matter. The data collected from the press were compared to the hypothesis and consequently the most occurring feminine forms were selected. In addition, the possible factors causing or preventing the feminization of names are examined in this study. The objective of the questionnaire is to analyse responses depending on the age, gender, and origin of the tested subjects, and to provide an overview of the current trends.
