Innovative methods of teaching phraseology at secondary school

The theoretical part of this diploma thesis shows the content of phraseology and the meaning of the word idiom. It widely defines the word phraseology and idiom from the point of view of books and authors specialized on phraseology. This work deals with the constituents of phraseology and gives illustrative examples. It outlines other theoretical opinions connected to the Czech phraseology, needed for the researching part. Next part describes the basis of folk art, folklore and its constituents that make our mother-toque richer and we can find them as a part of the education at secondary schools. This work will also describe the way phraseology is taught in language books and methods used in these books. In the researching part it shows different methods of work with phrasemes and offers couple of lesson plans. The aim is to bring some new materials and worksheets working with phrasemes usable in lessons.
Automatic Assignment of Student Projects in Python

This work focuses on automatic evaluation of student codes in Python programming language. Emphasis is placed primarily on feedback, to guide students in the correct Python code writing practices. In the practical part, the information obtained is used to design a system that alerts beginning programmers to errors and tries to teach them the right structures  in the form of python idioms. Further, the thesis describes individual parts of the system, its inputs and outputs. As a case study, the system was put  in place to support the teaching of the subject Scripting Languages  at the FIT VUT in Brno in the academic year 2017/2018. The thesis summarizes the experience of this deployment and evaluates the advantages and problems of the processed solution.
Czech somatic idioms

The diploma thesis deals with analysis of chosen idioms whose main part contains designation of human body, also called somatisms. This paper focuses on designations of sensory organs organs of sight, sense of hearing, olfactory sense, sense of taste, sense of touch. Theoretical part is dedicated to the description of cognitive linguistics which amongst other issues, studies representation of human body in language. The first part of this diploma thesis is also focused on the description of phraseology as a field of science and theoretical definition of somatic phrases. The content of the practical part is analysis of data of The Czech National corpus which are compared with phrasal dictionaries. The main aim of the work consists in the description of whether and to what extent they are being applied in spoken language and written texts and if they are updated.
Cracking nuts or comparison of Franz Kafka's novel "The Castle" with Czech translations

The dissertation is be concerned with the comparison of two Czech translations of novel "The Castle" by Franz Kafka from the linguistic viewpoint. The dissertation compares text translation by Vladimír Kafka of 1969 and Jana Zoubková of 2014. The dissertation focuses on the methodes of translation, demands, that are placed on a literary translations. The dissertation focuses on a lifetime period of translations and their critism and last but not least, some problems of modern text translation. After closer exploration and analyses of problems of translation our dissertation will evaluate the strengths and weakness of both our translations. Problems of Idioms in Translation from English Language

This bachelor thesis deals with the differences between English and Czech idioms and their translation. The first part of the thesis is focused on the theory of translation, on the significance of idioms in literature and language, their characterization, classification and nonetheless, it deals with idiom translation strategies. The practical part is focused on the differences of chosen idioms in English and Czech language. Mainly the difference between the literal and correct approach to translation is shown.
Semantic Scope and Use of Numeric Characters in Japanese Four Character Compounds "Yojijukugo"

In research I focus on architecture of japanese four character compound "​yojijukugo​". By various constelations of two main types of characters are yojijukugo able to express more informations than just sum of characters which it contains. This ability might be the key to discover new way of information transfer which, in my opinion, might be beneficial in a world of IT. At first i focus on problematic definition of yojijukugo term itself. Problematics of idiomatic and non­idiomatic yojijukugo division and summarize previous research in the field. In research itself I divide yojijukugo components into two main types of characters. Characters of ​Quality​ and ​Substance​. Using them i define specific syntax for each one of five constelations. I defined those five basic constelations:​ Equivalent​, ​Comparative​, ​Neutral​, ​Dynamic​ and ​Static​. Functions of characters in constelations are shown and described on examples. In the end i summarize the results of research and reveal the narrative mechanism inside yojijukugo four character compounds as well as think about ways of possible implementation in IT.
Translation of two English short stories

This BA thesis is focused on the translation of two short stories by V.S. Pritchett and their stylistic analysis. The thesis consists of the practical and the teoretical part. The outcome of the former is the side-by-side translation. The latter lays emphasis on differences between Czech and English in terms of morpohology, lexicology and syntax and various problems and the peculiarities one might come across while translating a longer text.
Spanish and Czech Phraseology and Idioms Considering Journalistic Texts

This thesis is focused on the analysis of phrasemes and idioms in Spanish and Czech journalistic texts. In its theoretical part, we discuss the definition of phraseology and idioms as linguistic disciplines within Czech and Spanish linguistics. The practical part contains a sample corpus of phrases and idioms based on selected excerpts from newspaper articles during a specific time period. These linguistic units are divided into thematic groups by their base words, their meaning is explained and formal and substantive similarities between Czech and Spanish are observed. We do not aim at presenting a set of idioms of the language, only to point out the currently used idioms in journalistic texts. The Human Body in Spanish phraseology and idiomatics with regard to the situation in the Czech and Slovak language

The topics of this thesis are Spanish, Czech and Slovak phrasemes that contain words to do with the human body or its parts. The theoretical part of this work delimitates the concepts of phraseme, idiom etc. It describes the different attitudes to this topic in the Spanish and Czech linguistic tradition. The theoretical background serves as a base for the practical section which is dedicated to a dictionary and analysis of Czech and Spanish idioms. The practical section studies the dictionary from different points of view. It is focused on the frequency of use of the idioms in Spanish and Czech, the possibilities of translation and etymology of certain expressions.
