Thesis: Abortion in the light of case law of European Court of Human Rights This thesis focuses on the legal regulation of abortion in selected European countries in order to find single European standard. It concentrates primarily on issues of assessing violations of particular articles of the Convention on Human Rights and Fundamental Freedoms by the European Court of Human Rights or former European Commission of Human Rights in relation to specific cases associated with abortion. Abortion means the deliberate termination of pregnancy by means of surgery or administration of drugs to induce abortion. Abortion is a major ethical issue that raises number of discussions and disputes. The complexity of the problem is due to the fact that on the one hand there is the mother's right to freely decide to terminate or continue the pregnancy and on the other hand, there is considerable right of the embryo/foetus to life. The whole text of the thesis is interwoven with finding a balance between these competing interests of women and the unborn child based on my own opinion or the opinion of the international judicial body. This thesis deals with research of men, who have experience with abortion of their girlfriends. My research attention was focused on men, who experienced abortion on their own. In Czech Republic almost no researches about men and abortion have been conducted and that is the reason why I started with this research. My research consists of a semi- structured interviews with five men. By analytical process of coding I created eight categories. We expect from men that they will be support for their girlfriends and they also want to act like that and be supportive. Men want take care of their partner. Men's role is to be support in this situation. They are aware of that this problem is mainly about women and that abortion is happening on woman body. But men want to be part of this situation. If they are not, they feel useless. After abortion they usually feel relief or sometimes guilt. But their emotions are varied. Abortion is also important incident for relationship between man and woman. Both usually think about future of the relationship.

Zástěra, Martin ; Pithart, Petr (advisor) ; Kysela, Jan (referee)
The thesis "Role of the U.S. Supreme Court in American system of government and the importance of Court's decisions for the political process in the United States of America" deals with the institutional role U.S. Supreme Court has in American system of government and puts emphasis on Court's decisions and their practical consequences on the politics in the United States. In history of the country the Court was an influential decision-making body on many occasions. Although shortly after the federation was established many intended to put the Court in position where weak powers given to it would not enable the institution to fully play its role of the guardian that keeps an eye on the constitutionality of adopted laws, at the beginning of the 19th century the Court found its place and became exactly what it was originally intended to be. Decision in Marbury v. Madison gained the Court the crucial power of judicial review. The power of judicial review completely changed the role of the institution that finally became the guardian of the Constitution. This thesis outlines the institutional position of the judicial branch and especially the position of the Supreme Court in American system of government. It also focuses on the political aspects of the nomination process of Supreme Court Justices and...

The diploma thesis is concerned with the portrayal of the female experience with the Second World War in The Night Watch (2006) by contemporary British writer Sarah Waters. The theoretical part outlines the socio-historical background of the novel with particular attention to the female experience of the Second World War in various fields, such as their family lives, job opportunities, and everyday life during the Blitz. Special attention is also given to the description of the female experience with abortion during the war and the lifestyles of female homosexuals in that historical period. The thesis further presents the theoretical delimitation of the neo-historical genre, of which the novel is a representative, and briefly introduces the novel in the context of Sarah Waters's other works in order to establish the basis for the analysis. Henzlová, Veronika ; Kulhavá, Miluše (advisor) ; Šimonová, Daniela (referee)
Insufficiently effective planned parenthood leads to unwanted pregnancies, which often end in induced abortion. Prevention is important especially for young people, so my bachelor's thesis focuses on the issue of abortion from the perspective of secondary school students in the Czech Republic. The thesis is divided into theoretical and practical part-research. In the theoretical part, I tried to create a clear source of information about abortion. I started with a general history and history in the Czech Republic, then briefly described the intrauterine development of the fetus, the reasons that can lead women to abortion, methods, possible complications, various aspects of the issue, other ways to deal with unwanted pregnancies and last but not least the prevention of unwanted pregnancies, which includes sex education and contraception. I obtained all this information from professional literature and professional articles. In the practical part, I presented the main goal and six sub-goals. To achieve the goals, I chose an online questionnaire survey, which was attended by 309 students from various secondary schools in the Czech Republic. The main goal of my research was to find out their awareness of abortion. In the partial goals, I tried to found out the students' opinion on this issue, whether...
