The research also aims at contributing to the wider discussion about the nature of right radicalism, populism and Euroscepticism in the EU by pointing to the similarities and differences between PVV and other European parties belonging to the radical right populist family. The time frame of the research starts with the origins of the party in the year 2005 and ends with the last important elections that PVV participated in, the European Parliament elections in 2014. Kočařová, Martina ; Barša, Pavel (advisor) ; Slačálek, Ondřej (referee)
Islamophobia and New Populism in Contemporary Western Europe: France and the Netherlands Bc. Martina Kočařová The Master thesis Islamophobia and New Populism in Contemporary Western Europe: France and the Netherlands explores current transformations of populism in contemporary Western Europe. The main objectives of the thesis are following: First, to verify a hypothesis implying that islamophobia has become a new feature of the contemporary populism, which has been consequently changing in terms of its content. Thus, it can hardly be classified as another form of the 'far right' politics. In this context, one may observe its shift towards the centre of the political party system. Second, based on the above outlined assumption, we aim to study whether the populist parties can be considered 'populist' in spite of the new features they have recently adopted. The theoretical framework of our research refers to Paul Taggart's conceptualisation of populism applying it on the cases of the French National Front under the lead of Marine Le Pen and the Dutch Party for Freedom and his leader Geert Wilders.

Brninská, Anna ; Kubát, Michal (advisor) ; Dimitrov, Michal (referee)
This thesis aims to analyze the current vision of the Party for Freedom (PVV) on immigration and its approach to immigrants, with an emphasis on Immigration plan that the party has in its program as one of the most important topics. The purpose of this work is to determine if the negative attitude of PVV against immigration is not just rhetorical matter, but whether this attitude is even used in active political manifestations. Tested hypothesis in this paper is, that in fact this party is not radical in this area, and it is only rhetorical fallacy to expand its electoral base to obtain seats in parliament. Here, in parliament, PVV wants to pursue its goals especially in the area of economy, not in immigration. The final analysis of all sources defines whether the party PVV promoting his election program on immigration in practice. The main sources in this case are statements and arguments of PVV representatives presented at meetings of the Lower House (Tweede Kamer der Staten - Generaal). This thesis also aims to determine whether the positions of the party on the issue of immigration is crucial to its voters and whether they would vote for this party even if PVV would change its approach to this problem. For this research are used results of previously conducted public opinion surveys and...
The Merchant or the Vicar? The Role of Values and Interests in the Dutch EU Enlargement Policy
Lellák, Jan ; Rovná, Lenka (advisor) ; Váška, Jan (referee)
This diploma thesis examines with the Dutch attitude towards enlargement of the European Union. In Netherlands the EU enlargement is a politically sensitive issue. Dutch foreign policy is traditionally closely connected with the concept of "merchant and the vicar", reflecting both values of the society and national interests. Interestingly the attitude of the government, reflecting the public opinion, is much more conservative compared to other member states and strictly support the democratic conditionality as the core strategy of the EU to induce candidate states to comply with its human rights and democracy standards. Netherlands gives also special value to the need to give particular regards to the current absorption capacity of EU. The main purpose of the thesis is to evaluate to what extent is the official attitude of the Dutch government towards enlargement shaped by either interests or values of the society as a whole. I put the current Dutch attitude in the context of the current development in Serbia, as the most significant candidate state form the region of Western Balkans and Iceland. The thesis analyses two very similar cases: the cooperation with the ICTY in Hague and the Icesave dispute. Netherlands has long and persistently blocked the accession negotiations with Iceland and...

Kořenář, Michal ; Rakšányiová, Jana (advisor) ; Sedláčková, Lucie (referee)
(english) The aim of this bachelor thesis is the translating and subtitling of a short Dutch documentary film for youth. Concretely it was the 97th part of the program BioBits. This film is about genes and their role in evolution. The translation was done from Dutch to Czech. The author had to transcribe the spoken Dutch text and analyze it. He has used the analytical methods of Christiane Nord for this purpose. The choice of the translational strategies and the solving of concrete translational problems are patterned on the preceding analysis of the text. The author relied mainly on the strategies of Andrew Chesterman and Jiří Levý. The typology of the translational problems and their solutions are demonstrated on the concrete examples from the text. The translated text was condensed by the author in order to make the subtitles. He outlined the procedure of condensing by way of the concrete examples relying on the work of Miroslav Pošta. That was necessary to overcome the differences between the spoken and written language and the limitation of space and time which are so typical for subtitling. The author then made the Czech subtitles to the movie by means of the program DivXLandMedia Subtitler. The CD with the movie and the subtitle file is attached to this thesis. Keywords: translation,...
The Netherlands and the motives of the Surinamese independence
Šrámková, Simona ; Váška, Jan (advisor) ; Pečenka, Marek (referee)
The thesis "The Netherlands and the Motives of the Surinamese Independence" deals with the development of the Dutch policy towards Suriname in the period between the Second World War and the 1970s. The main aim of the thesis is to analyze the motives, which led to the Surinamese independence, and based on the theories of decolonization to describe the type of the Surinamese decolonization process. After 1949, when the Dutch lost their crucial colony in Southeast Asia, today's Indonesia, their attention turned to the Caribbean colonies. The important moment of the Dutch- Surinamese relations was the Charter for the Kingdom of the Netherlands in 1954, which made Suriname and the Netherlands Antilles equal partners of the Netherlands within the Kingdom of the Netherlands. The thesis also deals with the political situation in the multiethnic Suriname because two main political parties, the Creole party NPS and the Hindustani party VHP, had different opinions on the independence of their country. However, in 1973 the elections were held, both in Suriname and the Netherlands, and the new prime ministers supported the Surinamese independence. Two years later, Suriname became an independent republic.
