Anti-patrioten, Traitors, Murderers in white cloaks. The image of "The Jew" as an "enemy" in the propaganda of late stalinism

The period of late Stalinism (1948-1953) witnessed sharp rise of anti-Jewish animosity and discrimination from the part of the Soviet regime. These tensions were caused by both domestic factors (ideological diversification of Soviet intellectual elite, escalation of Jewish nationalism, struggle for power among highest nomenclature) as well as international factors (transformation of the Soviet-Israeli relations, rise of the Cold War). The thesis analyzes, how these circumstances were reflected at that time. Therefore it tries to identify, how the image of "The Jude" was formed by the Soviet propaganda and how it changed in the given time period. As a general framework for this analysis the concept of "The Enemy" will serve which is considered to be one of the basic elements of totalitarian ideologies. The thesis examines by means of semiotic method two significant propaganda campaigns of that period, namely campaign against the "cosmopolitism" in January - March 1949 and campaign accompanying "The Doctors' Plot" during January - March 1953. It would try to identify, how the image of "The Enemy" was connected at that time with the notion of "The Jew".

Contemporary Dance and Ballroom Dance: Different Dance Environments from the Point View of Dancers and Audience

The thesis examines the phenomenon of nonverbal communication via dance from the perspective of anthropology of dance. The objective of the thesis is to analyze the dance environment of contemporary and ballroom dance, based on the point of view of the dancers as well as of the audience. I determine the differences in the ways these forms of dance communicate through dance performances. I examine how dance functions as a means of language, on which level the communication is processing and what meanings and messages the audience decodes within the dance performance. The phenomenon of dance in its natural environment is studied semiotically, as a form of language in certain context. The fieldwork method is based on participant observation and semistructured interviews with both dancers and audience. The research was conducted in the studio of Nová scéna - Lidé v pohybu in Prague, which teaches contemporary dance, and in the dance club Akcent Dobruška, which focuses on ballroom dance. Cultural dimension of language

This paper is about the relation between language, thought and culture. Main issue is the way how language acts as the basis for culture which is seen as a complex of symbols and meanings. Language is described as a system of signs whose usage influences the structure of people's thought and also the interpretations of the reality by means of culture. The question of the origin of language is examined in the paper as well as other issues connected with the study of language and culture. Among these the principal of linguistic relativity (Sapir-Whorf hypothesis) is the most important one, further the issue of the relation between linguistic changes and cultural changes and the issue of acquiring language and culture during the process of socialization are discussed. The relation between language, thought and culture is studied by means of interdisciplinary perspective with use of philosophical, semiotic, linguistic and especially anthropological texts. Concretely is about the music, which originate from Archa Theatre. This theatre is few years attending to the theme of immigration and refugees. The aim of this thesis is analyse the concept of "refugee music" created by Archa Theatre. In this music performance cooperate the asylum seekers and the czech and foreign professional artists altogether. I want to describe for what reason this music concept was created, how this artistically cooperation is proceeding, which meaning the particular musicians consider in this concept and which meaning of this music should be adress to audience. Simultaneously this music is set in the context of the complex artistic production with immigration themes of Archa Theatre. Original and Assumed Sources on World Wide Web

The thesis focuses on problem of authorship of the Internet content. It considers the question whether we can analyze the artwork purely as a closed structure of the symbols or whether it is necessary to take work as a broader structure. The first part of the thesis shows the Internet in general and its specifics it as a medium. The second part is devoted to the problem of authorship. It explains traditional view of Nelson Goodman, who examined the authenticity of artwork with regard to the internal arrangement of the elements structure of the object. The third part shows the later theories inconsistent with the views of Nelson Goodman, views of different contemporary authors who present the changes of authorship aspects in the environment which is under constant development, quickly sharing ideas and resources. New theories suggest to look beyond the authorship of the artwork domain, apply broader focous. The conclusion provides a synthesis of these views.

Semiosis of the self-prezentation of sports clubs AC Sparta Praha and HC Sparta Praha in the season 2013/2014

Diploma thesis deals with semiotics of advertising media campaigns of sport clubs AC Sparta Praha and HC Sparta Praha in the season 2013/2014. Both of the clubs celebrated an anniversary this season: AC Sparta Praha celebrated 120 years since its foundation, HC Sparta Praha celebrated 110 years. That was a reason why media campaigns were intensive and referred to the glorious history of the clubs. The Diploma thesis research is focused on meanings encoded into the campaigns and attempts to find out which verbal and non-verbal signs create the term "Sparta". The Author tries to find out if there is the same semiotic base for both clubs which operate with the same name and elementary signs. Diploma thesis defines contemporary "myth of Sparta" in Czech sport area. Theoretical part occupies with contemporary status of sport in the society, analytical part deals with the media campaigns of both clubs from semiotic perspective.

An analysis of expression- and content-oriented passages of the Torah: Texts of the Torah in the semiotic perspective of Charles S. Peirce, Yuri Lotman and Umberto Eco The aim of the presented thesis is to introduce the basic semiotic concepts of Charles Sanders Peirce, Yuri M. Lotman and Umberto Eco. These ideas should be beneficial for the interpretation of the Bible in the Czech republic and Slovakia: particularly in the Old Testament area. The thesis also proposes a new classification of the Torah's texts, and so identify, which functions could be subserved by the particular text. MMS aneb Sémiotický potenciál obrazové výpovědi

In the first chapter we will have a look at the transformation and evolution of a photo-camera which on its way to become a medium ofcommunication came a long way from cumbersome glass-plate machinery to the current ubiquitous day-to-day personal digital companion. In the second chapter we will explore the effects of digitisation on the theoretical notion of photography and its position in the present context. Next we will touch on the movement of pragmatism (primarily those versions ofCharles Sanders Peirce and William James) that will allow us to regard our matter as a more holistic interactive problem than dissected pieces of a puzzle; and we will also recapitulate parts of Peirce's theory of signs that are relevant to our cause. The fourth chapter is about the ability of symbolic reasoning - a feature so unique in the world that it is only found in humans and whose principles are very close to the thought-sign system that Peirce devised. In the fifth and last chapter we will see how all that connects to the photographs themselves when they are used in the current digital intention-laden semiotic manner. I
