Svobodová, Věra ; Trunečková, Ludmila (advisor) ; Köpplová, Barbara (referee)
This diploma thesis maps the media interest in former president Václav Havel by the Czech News Agency during the 10 years following his death in December 2011. It focuses not only on the number of reports, but also compares the individual years with regard to what events influence the number of reports that mention the former president. Using full-text searches in the Czech News Agency's Infobank, metadata codes used by the agency to classify news, and quantitative content analysis with the addition of evaluative elements, the paper tracks which topics most frequently appear in the agency's text service in connection with Václav Havel, whether the president is the main actor in the news, or what the tonality of news texts is in relation to him. The theoretical part defines the basic concepts and theories related to the social and media construction of reality, media image and media logic. The contextual part introduces in rough outlines the personality of Václav Havel. The methodological part deals with the specifics of the news text service offered by Czech News Agency and presents the research methods used. The research part presents the results of the analysis. Constitutional Conventions of the President of the Slovak Republic
Šedivý, Jakub ; Brunclík, Miloš (advisor) ; Hájek, Lukáš (referee)
The eminent Slovak author Marian Giba argues, in connection with the Constitutional Law applied in Slovakia, that the Slovak constitutional system is neither currently based on an unwritten law, nor will it be short. However, this does not mean that in society there is no room for applying the conventions mentioned above in practice. Constitutional conventions are and will continue to be an integral part of the exercise of the mandate of the President of the Slovak Republic. Unlike a constitutional text, a constitutional convention does not emerge overnight. But on the contrary, the process of creating constitutional conventions is purely gradual and many times even subtle in practice. With the thesis problem, I tried to build on my bachelor thesis research, where I examined whether the Constitutional Constitutions were violated in practice by the President of the Slovak Republic at the most critical moments during the governmental crisis in Slovakia in 2018. In this case, I tried to focus on only one constitutional convention. The research question of the final master thesis was to find out the concept of a critical Constitutional Conventions in the territory of Slovakia, i.e., the assignment of the representative of the winning political party to form a new government. Through careful analysis,...
Analysis of the use of social networks in the government communication of Zuzana Čaputová as the President of the Slovak Republic
Poliaková, Zuzana ; Shavit, Anna (advisor) ; Křeček, Jan (referee)
The diploma thesis is focused on the analysis of political communication of the President of the Slovak Republic Zuzana Čaputová on selected social networks. The aim of the thesis is to map the characteristic features of communication on individual platforms used by the President in her political communication. Similar or different elements occurring on the platforms will also be captured, while attention will also be paid to the communicated thematic areas themselves. The first part of the thesis is devoted to the definition of the research area, which inevitably presupposes, first of all, a theoretical definition of the concept of political communication and its placement in the context of new media at the same time with the definition of selected trends in the field of modern political communication. Part of the theoretical background is also putting it into context in terms of the role of the President within the Slovak Republic. The theoretical anchoring is followed by an introduction of the chosen methodology, which is followed by the final passage of the thesis, in which the communicative activity of the President on selected social networks during three pre-selected and typologically different periods is observed and examined in the form of a content analysis. The interpretation of the...

A specific periodical was chosen for purposes of the conducted analysis - Mladá fronta DNES. Šváblová, Sára ; Hájek, Lukáš (advisor) ; Mlejnek, Josef (referee)
This bachelor thesis focuses on the development of the presidential office from 1918, when the Czechoslovak Republic was founded, to 2018. In particular, it focuses on presidential powers. The purpose of the first part is to describe and trace, on the basis of constitutional texts, the changes in the individual competences of the head of state, as well as changes in his or her electability and accountability, and to place them in the context of constitutional development in the Czech lands. The aim is to present information about the presidential office in a clear and comprehensible way. The second part of the thesis focuses on a comparative analysis of specific powers. The thesis focuses on four presidential powers: the right to reverse a law or the right of veto, amnesty and pardon, and the appointment and dismissal of the government. The comparative analysis is conducted from the perspective of the constitutions and focuses on the distinctive elements of these powers. The aim is to assess, on the basis of the elements being compared, under which constitution the presidency was strongest in that particular power.
