Propfan engines in civil aviation transportation
Polák, Andrej ; Klement, Josef (referee) ; Šplíchal, Miroslav (advisor)
Bachelor thesis is written in the search form and discusses propfan aircraft engines. After introducing the concept itself, the first part deals with the principle functioning of engines and propulsion efficiency. The second part briefly describes the construction of these engines with a focus on specific parts of propfan engines differentiating concept from other aircraft engines. Then summarizes the features of these engines, describes their advantages and disadvantages and the possibilities of eliminating disadvantages. Finally briefly describes the history of the development of propfan engines.
Thermodynamics turboprop engines
Halama, Tadeáš ; Charvát, Pavel (referee) ; Štětina, Josef (advisor)
This research deals with issues of turboprop engines from the perspective of thermodynamics. In introduction, the reader is familiar with history of aircrafts engines. Furthermore, this work presents a comparison of piston and turboprop engines. In this section also describes the working principle of these engines and their main characteristics and advantages. The main third part focused on the thermodynamics of the turboprop engine, mainly in terms of the algorithm for calculation. This work is also included deduce formula for tensile strength of turboprop engine. The last part describes current trends in the design and construction of aircraft propulsion units, together with the advantages of turboprop engine.
Aircraft Power Units
Koutník, Tomáš ; Šplíchal, Miroslav (referee) ; Šošovička, Róbert (advisor)
This bachelor’s thesis deals with review of today most used aircraft power units. Briefly explains their purpose, working principle and most important influences on their function. Voluminous passage informs about main parts of aircraft power units and their functions. At the end of this thesis the directions of aircraft power units development are presented.
Powertrain design of a eight-cylinder aircraft engine
Ošmera, Petr ; Novotný, Pavel (referee) ; Píštěk, Václav (advisor)
Configuration of the powertrain of a flat-eight engine with ordered basic parameters is the theme of this thesis which name is Powertrain design of an eight-cylinder aircraft engine. This thesis occupies with configuration design of the crank mechanism and firing order, balancing of centrifugal and reciprocating forces and their moments, conceptual design of crankshaft and its stress calculation. This thesis also puts mind to calculation of torsional vibrations.
Design of small jet engine to 1kN thrust
Gongol, Jakub ; Fiedler, Jan (referee) ; Škorpík, Jiří (advisor)
This work will be focused on issue of a jet engine. The thesis will be divided into search retrieval part and computational part. In the search retrieval part it will focus on different configurations of jet engines as well as areas of their use. The main part of the thesis will however focus on a calculations where a turbine, compressor and an exhaust nozzle will be designed in order to give a thrust of approximately 1kN. Next step will be determination of an engine charcteristic that will give us a preview on how the engine performance will look like in off-design modes.
Noise reducing of aircraft engines
Čirka, Martin ; Kaddour, Mirvat (referee) ; Šplíchal, Miroslav (advisor)
Nowadays, aircraft transportation influences everyday life in our society, but not only by its advantages of efective traveling, but also by its negative impact on environment, therefore us, people. Due to this reason, I decided to concern myself about noise reducing of aircraft engines in this thesis. Research in this field helps to develop comfort of traveling, but also very important fact is noise impact on people living in surroundings near airports. To understand problem to the roots, first we need to know how is noise actually defined. First part of my bachelor’s thesis contains describtion of sound and noise. I’m also focusing on methods for noise measurement and actions, which are used for noise reduction. Greatest success have been made with Variable Geometry Chevrons, which can adjust to different flying conditions and not just reduce noise, but also can keep thrust of the engine at the same level and is also reducing fuel consumtion during level flight. In fourth chapter, you’ll come to know about regulations, which were made to adopt standards and recommended practices concerning aircraft polution. Also very important factor for setting up new standards is process of aircraft testing, so I summed up principles and procedures, which are usedby aviation organizations.
Design of cooling air channel for oil cooler installation in reshaped engine nacelle of L410NG aircraft
Fazekaš, Slavomír ; Lajza, Ondřej (referee) ; Navrátil, Jan (advisor)
This thesis describ es a design of co oling channel for the engine installation to the L-410NG aircraft. Firstly, it was compiled on the basis of analytical calculation of channel mo del and afterward underwent CFD analysis. In conclusion, the flowing of analytic calculation characteristics are compared with CFD analysis and there are also describ ed p ossibilities of flowing improvement for next channel mo dification.
Design of hydrogen jet engine to 1kN thrust
Mikulenka, Karel ; Šnajdárek, Ladislav (referee) ; Škorpík, Jiří (advisor)
This thesis includes a brief history of jet engines using hydrogen as fuel. Calculation of thermodynamics of small engine with thrust up to 1 kN which is in modern day used in practice drones or ballistic missiles will be conducted. Given initial parameters compressor selected is of radial type. Calculation of radial compressor and its verification in EES software. Issue of combustion chambers is presented and calculation of chamber balance is carried out. Computation of turbine and blading layout. Proposal of jet for expansion into atmosphere and engine thrust. Comparison of contemporary projects researching hydrogen propulsion in aerospace with their conventional counterparts and assessing their feasibility compared to other types of renewable fuels.
