Criminal Intelligence in the Fight Against Organized Crime in Italy
Matiz, Sophie ; Michálek, Luděk (advisor) ; Aslan, Emil (referee)
Criminal intelligence or Law Enforcement intelligence has been conceived to fight crime and restore the order of law whenever a country's national security is at risk. The discipline has its origins in the 1920s, a time in which the main method for intelligence collection was the famous dossier system - the gathering of basic information about individuals. Nowadays, the discipline has come to be considered a key tool in order to contrast organized crime. However, the European discipline on the matter as well as the establishment of the European Model on Criminal Intelligence are to be considered quite recent. In fact, the first real model on criminal intelligence was established only at the beginning of the years 2000s in the United Kingdom. Therefore, the scope of this thesis project is to study the ways in which criminal intelligence operates at the European level. However, this cannot be accomplished without providing an accurate definition of the main concepts - such as organized crime and intelligence - related to the discipline. Moreover, a fundamental part of this thesis regards the study of Europol and its evolution into a proper agency that works to eradicate the phenomenon of organized crime throughout the European territory. In particular, the elaborate aims to underline Europol's...

The bachelor thesis called "Border Changes between Italy and Yugoslavia after the Second World War" deals with the post-war settlement in the Trieste region. It focuses on attitudes of Italian governmental and other representatives to this issue. The aim of this paper is to analyse their visions and to compare them with the real development. It covers mainly topics of the borders' drawing up, the possible establishment of Free Territory of Trieste, its administration including difficulties related to the unsuccessful nomination of the Governor and the road to the London Memorandum in 1954 as well. The bachelor thesis also analyses the international political development as well as the national Italian political situation which impacted Trieste matters. The campaign before general elections in 1948 affected the problems when the western allies promised Italy to integrate the area concerned to the republic to turn the election results in favour of democratic parties. Moreover, this paper analyses changes which happened after the Yugoslav-Soviet split and which had the impact on the solution of the Trieste question. It also follows difficult negotiations which lead to the end of problems between Italy and Yugoslavia concerning the Trieste region.
The Italian Romantic Polemic
Piptová, Ivana ; Hrbata, Zdeněk (advisor) ; Pelán, Jiří (referee)
This master thesis discusses the roots, concepts and the subsequent interpretations of the so- called "romantic discussion", which took place in Italy between the years 1816-1826. Based on the overview of selected debate entries and their critical interpretations, we will try to explain the relatively scarce attention paid to the Italian romanticism by critics outside of Italy. The polemic on romanticism started with the article "On the Manner and Usefulness of Translations" by Madame de Stael, in which the author as a solution to the crisis affecting Italian literature suggested to translate more of French and German production, as it already reflected the upcoming romantic aesthetics. This modest proposal sparked a fierce debate which gradually dealt not only with the question of adopting foreign cultural impulses, but also with need to redefine the roots of Italian cultural traditions and build a modern Italian identity. The most important responses to Madame de Staël's article - written by Ludovico di Breme, Giovanni Berchet and Pietro Borsieri - are now considered "manifestos" of Italian romanticism. Unfortunately the inputs by Giacomo Leopardi and Alessandro Manzoni, even though they are considered very interesting and intellectually stimulating, cannot be considered part of the discussion as...
