FOKUS Tábor and intervention of people with mental diseases

This thesis deals with the problem how social services offered by FOKUS Tábor are effective in terms of subjective quality of life of their clients. The theoretical part is divided into three chapters. The first chapter is devoted to mental illness - classification, symptoms, treatment limitations, which cause mental illness, and life perspective of people with mental illness. The second chapter discusses the quality of life, its assessment and measurement, as well as the factors influencing the quality of life and the quality of life of people with mental illness and the possibilities of its increase. The last chapter deals with the association FOKUS Tábor - characteristics, mission, history and present of the association, its objectives and principles, the services offered and characteristics of the target group. The aim of the study is to determine what role FOKUS Tábor has in improving quality of life of its clients with mental illness. Achieving this goal is realized by interviews with clients of FOKUS Tábor, during which it focuses primarily on how they perceive intervention of the association, thus the efficiency of social services offered. Multidisciplinary team in the Implementation of Centres of Mental Health

This bachelor thesis deals with multidisciplinary teams of Centres of Mental Health, which are built within the implementation of the Reform of the psychiatric care system in the Czech Republic. One of the aims of this work is to find out the role of Centres of Mental Health and their multidisciplinary teams in the system of care for people with mental illness. The thesis also aims to find out how this new element of psychiatric care system in the Czech republic works in practice. The implementation and functioning of multidisciplinary teams are viewed from the perspective of their members, with whom seven interviews were conducted. Based on the testimonies of the interviewees, the theses presents the benefits of working in a multidisciplinary team with a target group of people with mental illnesses. In addition to the benefits of working in such teams, also the complications, which the staff experiences are discussed.
The Influence of the Manifestations of Borderline Type of Emotionally Unstable Personality Disorder on Family Members

69 Abstract This diploma thesis deals with manifestations of a borderline type of emotionally unstable personality disorder and its influence on family members of people with this type of disease. The aim of this thesis was to present the experience of living with a person with BPD. Qualitative research, using the semi-structured type of interview, was conducted with three respondents, one man and two women. The data was evaluated using interpretative phenomenological analysis. The results show the negative effects of contact with the individual with the BPD and the psychological burden is also evident. The thesis could be beneficial for social and health workers who come into contact with people with the BPD and their loved ones within their practice. At the end of the thesis step are mentioned through which each of us can contribute to the improvement of the situation.
People with mental disorders and their access to the labour market

Group of people with mental illness is a very diverse group. Due to its diagnosis they have to face prejudices and stigmatization, which influences all levels of their lives - even the working one. This diploma thesis People with mental disorders and their access to the labour market examines the position of persons with mental disorders on the labor market. It is based on the premise that employment is an important element for every person, as it provides an income and, above all, represents belonging to the majority society. In this work I introduce the setting of Czech legislation and public policy documents, I realize my own quantitative (using content analysis of media outputs) and qualitative (using semi-structured expert interviews) research and based on that I classify people with mental illness into the relevant target population according to the Theory of social construction of target populations (according to Schneider and Ingram). I choose this procedure of combined (= mixed) research to collect a sufficient amount of data. This theory says how benefits or burdens are allocated in society. The influence of birth order on chosen mental disorders

This work provides a basic introduction to the problematic of how the birth order affects human mental health. It explores the effects of birth order on three selected mental disorders: schizofrenia, anxiety and depression. The introduction provides explanation of basic terms and formulations for better orientation in this topic. There are several studies exploring the birth order effects on human mental health included in this work. The researches show, that in case of schizophrenia, the effect may apply to last born children, in the case of anxiety, the effect may apply to middle children and in the case of depression, it applies to firstborns. This work uses knowledge from fields of psychology, biology, evolutionary biology and human ethology.
The etical issue of the position of people suffering from mental disorder in the labor market

Subject of Diploma thesis is a description of ethical problems and complication of social mechanism related to employing people who suffer from mental illnesses. There are factors which influences opportunities for success, like concealed or unspecified information about diagnosis. It is happening based on experience with labeling and stigmatization. Thesis reflects sick person's dilemmas and social roles and proposes a solutions in the light of ethic. Discrimination of people with mental illness in the offices of the CSSA

This thesis deals with the discrimination of people with mental illness in the offices of the Czech Social Security Administration. The aim of the thesis is to answer the research questions asking whether people with mental disorders experience any form of discrimination when applying for disability pension. They look for elements of discrimination both in the behaviour of workers and in the legislative process of allocating disability pensions. The behaviour of workers is explained by using framing theory. The theoretical part describes direct and indirect discrimination, framing theory and the theory of line workers with whom we continue to work throughout the thesis. Next, the procedure of allocating disability pensions is indicated, which gets compared with the experience of respondents in the practical part. The research questions are answered in the practical part through several interviews with respondents with mental illness, who went through the application process for disability pension and with respondents who work as medical examiners in the social security administration. In this part, there is also a discussion which analyses the flow chart, which appeared with all respondents with mental illness. In the end, all findings and answers to research questions are summarized.
Self-efficacy in Patients with Dual Diagnose in the Final Phase of Psychiatric Hospitalization

The aim of this work was to explore the nature of self-efficacy construct in patients with dual diagnose in the final phase of psychiatric hospitalisation. In the theoretical part, three topics are discussed: the self-efficacy construct, hospitalisation, and specific mental disorders. In the empirical part a qualitative methodology, based on the elements of interpretative phenomenological analysis, was used. The research sample consists of 5 patients with dual diagnoses, and a psychologist treating these patients in the Department of Dual Diagnoses in Bohnice hospital. Semi-structured interviews were conducted with all participants. The presented results include a separate analysis of key topics for each participant, as well as an overall analysis of all data. A new perspective of self-efficacy is emerging, spreading through three distinct levels - intrapersonal, interpersonal, and systemic. Overload of social service managers (Sources of stress overload of social services managers for people with psychiatric diagnoses)

This thesis focuses on managing stress overload in social services of social rehabilition for clients with mental disorders. The goal is to clarify the resources of the overburdened of the social service managers from the view of the managers. This thesis is divided into teoretical and empirical part, in witchteh conducted research and its results are described. Teretical part defines mental disorders and discusses possible characterizations and manifestation of behaviour within people with mentaldiseases. Nongaverment nonprofit organization and their management are disorders. An important part of thesis is chapter dealing with stress overload with focus on social service managers. All chapters of the theoretival part are based on knowledges from literature. The empirical part focuses on the conducted research with discovered sources of overload of social service managers as a focal point. Research design comes from qualitative methods. Framing of Mental Illness in Selected Media Outputs Focused on Destigmatization

The dissertation called 'Framing of Mental Illness in Selected Media Outputs Focused on Destigmatization' explores how the documentary series 'Life Behind the Wall', online documentary series 'You are not alone', an audio documentary series 'My therapy' communicate the theme of mental health. The work aims to find out how selected journalistic projects framed the issue of mental illness. The theoretical part of the work first deals with mental illness, the concept of stigma and the role of the media in its transmission. It also focuses on destigmatization and defining the most important destigmatization approaches. The next part presents the theoretical basis of concepts such as the influence of the media, agenda-setting and framing. The analytical part presents 10 frameworks, which have been identified using the method of grounded theory. The results are summarized in a discussion, where found frameworks and their limits are being evaluated and compared with best practices based on manuals for journalists and professional publications on mental illness.
