The display of Ravensbrück and Neuengamme concentration camps (and their surroundings) in the documentary literature and the testimonies of eyewitnesses

In my bachelor thesis I focus on the display of Ravensbrück and Neuengamme concentration camps and their surroundings in the documentary literature. I examine how the people of the neighborhood towns and villages cooperated with the concentration camps, how they dealt with and how they accepted the fact that a concentration camp was so close by. I explore this topic from the point of view of the people who lived in that area as well as from the point of view of the prisoners from the concentration camps. A further focus is drawn to the prisoners themselves and how, or in what way they were in contact with the civilian population.
Concentration Camp as a Topic in German Literature

This thesis deals with the topic of the Nazi concentration camps in German literature. At the beginning of the work the historical background and the most important dates and events from the history of the concentration camps will be described. It will be continued by the general description of the topic in German literature and the attitude of society in the postwar period. In the last chapter three works with the theme of concentration camps from every literary genre will be analysed in detail. From drama it will be The trial by Peter Weiss, then the poem Death Fugue by Paul Celan and finally the novel Naked among Wolves by Bruno Apitz. Apart of the interpretations of works the emphasis will be put on the lives of the authors, for better understanding. The main subject of this thesis will be to approach the topic of concentration camps in German literature, historical background and attitude to this topic in the postwar period. The Psychology of Life under the Conditions of Concentration Camp

Diploma thesis was divided into three main parts: the historical part, true stories of survivors and psychological part. The order of these three parts is not accidental. One follows the other, and each of the following, you might say, is clear. The second part contains the real stories of survivors and two stories of survivors of the Auschwitz concentration camp, and two stories from the Theresienstadt ghetto.On the stories of former prisoners trying to illustrate what life was like lágrového prisoner what they had to endure what he had to give up what had become accustomed to, and what a great inner strength had to use that he managed to survive. In every story outlines the change that is in man during detention takes place. The main task of the second part is to offer readers a chance to try to put yourself in the characters and try to bring your inner feelings at least a partial understanding of the urgency of the topic. The third and last part, the part psychological. Its mission is to gather, grab and name phenomena that occur freely in the stories of survivors. History of the transports Dl and Dm from Teresienstadt to Auschwitz

The theme of this thesis is the history of two transports, transports Dl and Dm dispatched september 6 1943 from ghetto Terezín to Auschwitz. It is possible to find a lot of information in many publications, but this thesis introduces this subject throught testimonies of eyewitnesses. Starting with the family background, continuing with deportation to Theresienstadt from where the transports were dispatched. Concerning the transport to Auschwitz, I elaborated its characteristics looking at the age and sex of the transported inmates. Due to the witness's testimonies, I tried to concentrate on the history of two day's journey to the biggest extermination camp during the second world war. And the eyewitness's testimonies are illustrating all the welcoming ceremony, the desinfection, tattoo and dormitory allocation. In my thesis, I would like to describe the Terezin inmates' biannual stay in family camp B IIb, tragical death of 3 792 of them at night of 8 to 9 March 1944, seeking to recreate the Dr. Mengele's list of medical personnel and twins. Finally, I would like to emphasise the fate of 41 survivors of those transports.
The survival strategies used by children and teenagers imprisoned in the Terezin ghetto between 1942-45 based on their diaries

The diploma thesis The survival strategy used by children and youth imprisoned in the Terezin ghetto between 1942 - 1945 based on their diaries is a study, which analyze some extant diaries written by children deported during Word War II to the Terezin ghetto. As the main sources served archive materials, especially unpublished children's diaries kept in the Jewish Museum of Prague and in the Terezin Memorial. Terezin ghetto (Theresienstadt) was exist between November 1941 and May 1945. Part of this work is concise representation of the ghetto's beginning and function and overall conditions. In the following chapter is briefly described children's homes, which were established thanks to Jugendfürsorge, department which cared about youth in the ghetto. This part deals with the moral influence on children given by the specific conditions and it was presented supporting function of the arts performed by adult prisoners and children too. The main part of this work consists in a researching of the diary entries sorted in predermined aspects. One of them is the space-time aspect. It was selected some entries which described the past, the present and the future. Other entries included reflecting of space out of the ghetto and space in. It was made many hypothesis which contributed to the next analyses....

This Bachelor thesis deals with the use of diaries from the Terezín Ghetto in education. It focuses on their connection with professional publications about the Terezín Ghetto and their practical use in teaching. It demonstrates that the diaries are a good source of knowledge of everyday life in Terezín. The thesis brings new learning opportunities in lessons and wider perspective on the issues being discussed.
Relationship between "Ich" and "Der andere" in Améry's "Hand an sich legen"

(in English) This thesis deals with the relationship between The Self and The Other as presented in the works of Jean Améry, especially in his book about suicide. To think about the relationship between these two agents means also to think about freedom, humanity, the right to life, and the right to voluntary death. The first part of the thesis is concerned with the definitions of the relevant concepts; the second part reflects on the concept of voluntary death. It is precisely the voluntary death that can be the most radical result of the culmination of misunderstanding between The Self and The Other. For voluntary death is not only a decision not to live at this time and place but also a decision to leave this society, the others. According to Améry, the decision to commit suicide is a free, natural, and humane act. By saying that suicide is a free act Améry argues against the deterministic teachings of psychologists. Améry believes that voluntary death is a natural response to inhuman, humiliating, or for any other reason unacceptable life conditions. He thinks that voluntary death is also a humane act, as it gives men the opportunity to stop existing when there is a threat to their existence as human beings, for example when they get dehumanized like a muselman in a concentration camp. Dark tourism in the Czech republic

The aim of the theoretical part is to explain the term dark tourism, its forms and historical development. It describes the places that can be marked as the dark tourist destination and shows specific attitudes to the expression itself. The other part deals with the psychological aspect, possible reasons for this type of travelling are explored; it opens up the question of fascination with death and tragedy in general; it presents the moral aspects which can have the negative impact on tourists as well as on victims. It also attempts to highlight the presence of the ethical restraint and reasons for dark tourism is considered as very controversial topic. The practical part proposes to analyze the structure of dark tourist attractions in the Czech Republic. Furthermore, it examines the motives of their visitors and tries to offer a basis to cancellation of the taboo this topic. Regarding the tourism industry the work also brings the concept of the conversion dark tourist attractions in tourist destinations and their promotion by travel agent's.
