Competitive filling of a plane region
Slabý, David ; Valtr, Pavel (advisor) ; Valla, Tomáš (referee)
Two players take alternating turns filling a rectangular board with unit squares without rotation, but may be otherwise arbitrary. Squares may not overlap and the game ends when there is no space for the next one. The result of the game is the number of turns. The constructor aims to maximize this quantity while the destructor wants to minimize it. We would like to get close to this value, provided that both players use their optimal strategy. We prove some new lower and upper bound for the game. This thesis extends results given by Tamás Hubai in his paper Competitive rectangle filling. Furthermore, we have a look at other board shapes and shapes to fill with.

Topologies defined using ideals
Dvořáková, Karolína ; Kalenda, Ondřej (advisor) ; Murtinová, Eva (referee)
In this thesis we study the topologies formed by a modification of some given topology using ideals - we focus on localizable and strongly localizable ideals. In the first chapter we use a certain set mapping to define ideal topology, then we show its relation to the initial topology. Next we investigate what properties the elements of ideal obtains in the new topology, for example on certain conditions the ideal becomes exactly the set of all nowhere dense sets in the ideal topology. Finally, we show when the new topology is regular and formulate necessary and sufficient conditions for a set with ideal topology to be a Baire space. In the second chapter we apply the results on concrete examples of ideals and topologies defined by them.

Magic numbers in metric spaces
Skálová, Alena ; Lukeš, Jaroslav (advisor) ; Veselý, Jiří (referee)
The main topic of this work is the Gross Theorem and its generalization - the Stadje Theorem. According to the Gross Theorem, for every compact connected metric space (X, d) there exists a unique magic number a(X, d) with the following property: For every finite set K ⊂ X there exists a point y ∈ X such that the average distance from y to K is a(X, d). The Stadje Theorem takes any real-valued continuous symmetric function f on X × X instead of a metric d. In this work we give a proof both of the existence and the uniqueness of the magic number from the Stadje Theorem. Examples of magic numbers in some particular metric spaces are presented. We also study the range of values which can a magic number attain, given some restrictions on the function f or on the space X. 1

Application of the Mizukami-Hughes method in three dimensions
Hejbal, Pavel ; Felcman, Jiří (referee) ; Knobloch, Petr (advisor)
In the present work we deal with the numerical solution of the convection-di usion equations in three space dimensions. We are focusing on the solution of convection-dominated equations, in which the discrete solution is usually poluted by spurious nonphysical oscillations. An exception is the Mizukami-Hughes method, which gives the discrete solution without spurious oscillations, because the solution always satis es the discrete maximum principle. This method has been successfully improved because sometimes the original method does not give the correct solutions. The aim of this work is to design, implement and test an extension of the Mizukami-Hughes method to three space dimensions and moreover to apply analogous improvements, which have been made in the two-dimensional case.

ALBAN BERG : WOZZECK - A comprehensive scenographic project to be realized in a theatre space
Wojtkowiak, Barbara ; Glogr, Karel (advisor) ; David, Milan (referee)
This work is a theoretical part of a complex set design for project Alban Berg" Wozzeck - Opera of Blood. It is divided into three sections dealing mainly with opera processing of Wozzeck. The first part deals with the historical context of the opera, which affects more than a few similarities of the perception of this piece, as well asi its controversial first show. Further I explain the concept and preparing the actual project, including the inspirations. The third section attends the contemporary inscenations of Wozzeck abroad, which differ not only from the cultural roots from which they have been developed, but also with a form of dramatic language.

Persistent data structures
Kupec, Martin ; Straka, Milan (referee) ; Mareš, Martin (advisor)
This thesis discusses persistent data structures, that is structures which preserve their own history. We focus on pointer-based structures, where it is possible to reach both full and partial persistence in constant amortized time and space per operation. Persistent arrays are also discussed, but the existence of optimal persistent arrays remains an open problem. We also include specific applications of the general techniques and also examples of use of persistent data structures.

Econometric systems of simultaneous equations in life insurance
Hendrych, Radek ; Prášková, Zuzana (referee) ; Cipra, Tomáš (advisor)
In present work we deal with theoretical and practical issues related to econometric systems of (linear) simultaneous equations. In the first chapter we introduce to theoretical aspects of this problem. We devote considerable space to estimation procedures and comparisons of their properties, mention questions of identification, an inconsistency of OLS-estimates for the simultaneous modeling, tests of hypotheses specific to this area, dynamic systems and constructions of forecasts in models. In the second chapter we introduce selected basic concepts relevant to life insurance. In the third chapter we show the practical application of theoretical knowledge in the event of an econometric model of financial flows in the life insurance company operating on the Czech market. We compare ordinary estimation procedures (2SLS and 3SLS approach), perform some tests, which serve us to verify selected information on the studied model. We show the possibility of using residual bootstrap, including examples of use in the construction of confidence intervals. Finally we analyze several predictions of the estimated model of the life insurance company for predetermined scenarios for the development of selected variables, which is very important from practical point of view.

Crisis management in a healthcare organization
Pírková, Vendula ; Vrzáček, Petr (advisor) ; Trpišovský, Milan (referee)
This project deals with handling of a personal crisis in a health organisation, caused by influence of independent, foreign causation. The first theoretical part of my project presents the nursery and qualifies the quality of the nursing service. The system of employee's care is also a process of a change. I present here among other things also a process of a change. In detail I describe an entity management in the stage of crisis, the identification of the crisis cause and reason and consequently the following solution and remedy actions to decrease the negative impacts of such a crisis for the respective entity and environment. The second part of my project is the practical one and describes the crisis development and the way how to dodge the impact of this event on the health service level in the Benešov - Hospital during a time space aof one year. I decided to present here also the indicators announcing the origin of a crisis and consequently the way, how to handle and master such a situation by the management of the entity. One part of this project is also the recommendation for other management, where its or their entity (entities) suffered a similar crisis.

Point of view
Michalíková, Markéta ; Sedlák, Michal (advisor) ; Kornatovský, Jiří (referee)
In this thesis I deal first of all with relation of human to environment, landscape and their mutual influence. I solve here what all has influence on our perception of landscape, how the memory of landscape and "genius loci" of place originates. I aslo deal with forms of intervention of human activity to the environment, landscape and urban space.

Currciculum of foreign language for special purpose at universities with economic focus – the theory and practice
Jeřábková, Petra ; Hlavičková, Vlasta (advisor) ; Höppnerová, Věra (referee) ; Houska, Leoš (referee)
The knowledge of foreign languages has always been inseparable part of education and a part of spiritual wealth of every human being. At present, it also becomes one of the conditions for employment and success of university graduates on labour market, the precondition of which is a correctly assembled curriculum of a foreign specialized language both in its cultivation and qualification part. The goal of this dissertation is to on the one hand examine significant features of our presence which have influence on cultivation component of curriculum in particular, and examining the requirements of practice which determine its qualification component. From the synthesis of conclusions of both parts, we formulate recommendations for assembling specialized foreign language curriculum for universities of economic focus on a specific case of the curriculum of specialized German at University of Economics, Prague. We define the notion curriculum in theoretical part and we deal with curriculum from synchronic and diachronic aspect. Hermeneutical approach examines its social determinants. Furthermore we deal with current problem of special methodologies, which touch upon the addressed problem: methodology of tertiary education, methodology of foreign languages, methodology of German and methodology of specialized German. In conclusion of the theoretical part, space is devoted to language policy in Czech and European context and we summarize current state of solution of our research problem. In the research part, we deal with the qualification part of curriculum by means of empirical research of University of Economics, Prague graduates focused on the analysis of current demands of labour market on the knowledge of and the comparison of these requirements with the existing curriculum of German at University of Economics, Prague. It has been verified in the research whether the level of graduates´ knowledge for practice is sufficient and gives them competitive value on the labour market, what activities they do in German, how they reflect their studies of German at University of Economics, Prague and what their suggestions to curriculum, which would better respect their educational needs, are. Conclusions of the research are compared with the existing curriculum as it is depicted in graduate´s profile, as well as syllabuses of individual subjects and textbooks which are used in tuition at present. We derive from both of the steps that the nature of changes in curriculum is legitimate. Concrete suggestions for the innovation of curriculum where we take the findings of theoretical and research part into account follow the research part.
