Etiquette, Manners and Customs in Korean Society

(in English): The focus of this thesis is to examine Korean customs, manners and etiquette within the life cycle. The aim of this work is not to describe the various rituals from either anthropological or sociological perspective, but to overview customs, rituals and social etiquette rules which that accompany these rituals. The work is divided into four main chapters, including a general description of Korean society, childbirths, wedding ceremonies and finally death and ancestor worship.
Transformation of Wedding Traditions in Contemporary Iran

This bachelor thesis focuses on the transformation of Iranian wedding traditions in contemporary Iran and also deals with the impact of the West on these customs and traditions that accompany nuptial and pre-nuptial ceremonies. The thesis consists both of a theoretical- descriptive part and a research done via Internet in the form of questionnaires and interviews. The aim of the thesis is to find out how much the Western society and its culture affect Iranian weddings and discover current trends in this field. The first chapter is the introduction, which introduces the reader to the topic and explains the reasons of author for choosing the topic. The second chapter deals with the development of the position of women in Iranian society with focus on its transformation in the 20th century. This chapter helps the reader understand social and cultural connections which formed and still form the way of thinking in this society and lead to the discontinuation of some old wedding traditions or willingness to accept and adopt new customs and traditions. Customs of Muslim Family in the Czech Republic

The thesis "Customs of Muslim family in Czech Republic" is focused on the traditions and customs of Muslim family from the point of view of young Muslims who live in the Czech Republic, concretely in Prague. In the opening chapters islam, its origin and five principles of Islamic religion are introduced. Family, marriage, Muslim traditions, customs, feasts, ceremonies, celebrations and nourishment are emphasised in the following chapters. In the conclusion of the theoretical part, history od Islam and Muslims in Europe and Bohemian countries is mentioned and Muslim congregation and Islamic nadation in Prague are introduced as well. Second part of the thesis consists of empirical research. Methods and aims of the research are defined. Respondents and the analysis of data are described as well. Modern Weddings in Belgrade and Prague

The goal of this bachelor thesis is to show contemporary wedding customs in Belgrade and Prague on the background of typical Old Serbian and Old Czech wedding. The thesis primarily thoroughly deals with the characterization of wedding customs which lasted to this day and therefore became a part of modern weddings. Simultaneously it tries to depict similarities and differences in traditions of both of the described regions. The method of describing the modern marriage culture is based primarily on analysis of traditional wedding components and at the same time is interspersed with results of the questionnaire survey. The analysis shows that even though many of the old customs preserved they are being often practiced in an altered form and some of them even lost their original meaning and character.
Life in the Slovak village in the 19th century

This work centers on the traditional way of life in a Slovak village in the 19th century. It primarily shows the position of people in the family and the community life of the village. From a historical perspective, the work follows the changes that occurred in village society after the collapse of the feudal system and the transition to a capitalistic one which led to changes in the traditional life of the villagers. The main part of this work aims to describe the traditions, customs and irrational superstitions associated with the major phases of human life such as birth, childhood, youth, marriage and death. At the same time, it also tries to capture the transformation with the rising of capitalism that influenced well established traditions. International transportation of art objects

The master´s thesis deals with the international transportation of art objects (for instance paintings, sculptures, etc.). The aim of diploma paper is to scrutinize the issues of transportation of works of art in the Czech Republic and beyond its borders. It includes different formalities, packing, laws, customs and insurance specifics. The application part contains analysis of the case study. It shows practises for transportation of art objects in Galerie Rudolfinum. Subsequently,it includes recommendations for the gallery. Moreover, there is an evaluation of weak points in the field of international transportation of works of art and outline of possible future trends.

Romanies and their attitude to death and dying nowadays: The Romany funeral

The degree work deals with the present attitude of Romanies to death and dying, and especially the Romany funeral. The work aim is the reflexion on the Romany perspective of death and dying including their special characteristics (customs, rituals, traditions) in view of these days. The work is divided into four chapters, in which theoretical and practical knowledge is entwined and complemented. The first three chapters dwell on death, life after death and funeral rituals in general, and further on Romany history connected to their death and dying and contemporary Romany funeral traditions, including Romany faith in afterlife and spirits of the dead. The last chapter of the degree work summarizes the knowledge of the previous three chapters, and it is the very mentioned reflexion of the attitude of Romanies to death and dying.
The customs and traditions in Czech villages during the year

The theoretical part of the essay explains the meaning of traditions, mainly the most used customs and traditions in the Czech Republic. They are sorted according to the seasons, where they belong. Those traditions and customs, arranged in chronological order, can be used as an inspiration for organizing the free time for children. In practical part of the essay the author uses her own experience in organizing the free time for children. Those activities are inspired by traditions. The author talks closer about preserved traditions in the village of Trpísty that is situated in Western Bohemia. She describes four activities with children which she organized: the custom of spring called Morena, painting of waiting room before the carnival celebration in summer time, creating of lanterns in autumn, parade on st. Martin´s day and Three Kings carol in winter. Those activities are adapted for children´s hobbies and their needs.
