Old and new regionalism exemplified by the Andean Community of Nations

The history of regional initiatives in Latin America is very rich and varied. Immediately after declaration of independence, there was a tendency to form a political union. Integration groupings developed in the twentieth century are trying with various success rate to enhance mutual trade and political ties in the region. These efforts can be divided into two periods, the first, the old regionalism, from the early sixties to the debt crisis in the eighties and the second period, the new regionalism from the turn of the eighties and nineties. The object of this work is to draw a comparison between these regionalistic trends in Latin America - old and new regionalism - and be exampled by integration group. As the best example to compare the regionalistic trends was chosen: the Andean Pact (the Andean Community of Nations).

Impacts of drug trade in select states of Latin America

In the introduction of my thesis, devoted to the drug trade in select states of Latin America, I will address the topic of cocaine and its history. This is important for understanding the significance of the drug in the world, and -- especially in Latin America -- for comprehending that in these countries cocaine has such a strong tradition that attempts to prevent the cultivation of coca and subsequent trade with the drug will probably never succeed. I will further examine the economic and social situations in countries of Latin America and emphasize the fact that people there often have no other alternative than to engage in criminal activities, again for the most part related to cocaine. I will evaluate anti-drug policies in select Latin American countries and their effectiveness -- or rather ineffectiveness -- and conversely attempt to describe how great an influence the narco-mafia has on the economics and politics of given states and on their representatives. I intend to focus my thesis primarily on three Latin American states: Colombia, as the largest supplier of cocaine; Mexico, which is the primary transit country, through which drugs travel from Colombia to the United States, and Brazil, where children's gangs connected with drugs form.

Integration of Latin America

The objective of the thesis is to describe and analyse the processes of integration in Latin America. The first part focuses on the Free Trade Area of the Americas (FTAA), especially on the reasons which caused the failure of the project. The second part targets the new born Union of South-American Nations (UNASUR), the motives for its creation and analysis of the actual state of affairs. The third part presents the current political situation which is crucial for the succesfull operating of the UNASUR.

Tato bakalářská práce se zabývá postavením Mexika ve světové ekonomice, zvláštní důraz je věnován zapojení Mexika do integračních uskupení. Práce je rozdělena do tří hlavních kapitol. První kapitola obecně charakterizuje mexickou ekonomiku - velikost této ekonomiky z hlediska různých ukazatelů, jednotlivé ekonomické sektory, ekonomický vývoj a zahraniční obchod této země. Druhá kapitola se zabývá zapojením Mexika do integračních uskupení. Třetí kapitola se zaměřuje na dohodu NAFTA a na její vliv na mexickou ekonomiku.

Postavení Španělska ve světové ekonomice

Práce se zabývá charakteristikou politických, ekonomických a obchodních vztahů mezi Španělskem a Latinskou Amerikou. Hlavním cílem je vzájemné srovnání těchto vztahů. Základem je položená hypotéza, že tradičně blízké vztahy a intenzivní politické vazby mezi Španělskem a Latinskou Amerikou ovlivňují jejich vzájemné vztahy ekonomické a obchodní. Snahou práce je obhájení, upřesnění nebo vyvrácení této hypotézy.

Economic relations of the Czech republic with the Latin America (an example of Cile)

This graduation theses is concerned with the economic development of the economies of Latin America and the Caribbean and economic relations of the Czech republic with these latinoamerican countries, especially trade and business relatins with Chile, Argentina, Brasil and Mexico. The purpose of the gradution theses was to analyse and mutual compare the progress of trade and business relations of these four selected countries and the possibility of czech enterprises to succeed on trade market of these countries.

Vývoj zahraničního obchodu ČR s vybranými latinskoamerickými zeměmi, vůči kterým jsou uplatňovány teritoriální priority

Práce se věnuje obchodním vztahům České republiky s Brazílií, Argentinou, Chile a Mexikem. Úvodní kapitola se dotýká podstaty projektu teritoriálních priorit. Stěžejní část práce se soustřeďuje na obchodní vztahy s uvedenými zeměmi. Vždy je jedné zemi věnována jedna kapitola. V první části každé z nich je popsán vývoj vzájemných vztahů od vzniku samostatné ČSR do současnosti, dále je věnován prostor současné situaci obchodní výměny a ekonomické spolupráce a v závěru každé kapitoly se práce obrací k výhledu do budoucna a popisuje perspektivy vývoje a případné další možnosti spolupráce, jakož i aktivity směřující k podpoře této spolupráce.

Ekonomická integrace na americkém kontinentě (NAFTA, FTAA)

Práce poskytuje přehled o vzniku, vývoji a fungování procesů ekonomické integrace na americkém kontinentě. Kapitoly první části se zabývají problematikou dohody NAFTA, přičemž nejprve je charakterizována formální stránka dohody a poté její praktický dopad na obchodní poměry v oblasti. V kapitolách druhé části, které jsou věnovány dohodě FTAA, dochází k představení zejména její původní formy, oblastí sporů a dosavadních výsledků jednání.
