Vliv tepelné elektrárny na životní prostředí
Huvar, Karel
Combustion of fossil fuels in the energy sector is one of the largest sources of air pollution in the Czech Republic. This thesis describes the conversion of heat energy in coal power plant into electricity. It compares the combustion plants of solid fuel. It compares combustion of coal, biomass and solid alternative fuels. It analyzes the resulting pollution from the combustion of solid fuels and its impact on the environment. It also describes the use of cogeneration. There are mentioned the methods of disposal and elimination of harmful substances and waste products of solid fuels combustion and their use. It deals with a preview of the future of classical power engineering in the Czech Republic.

Vertiginous relations in Eugene O'Neill's Desire Under the Elms and Mourning Becomes Electra
Landerová, Petra ; Roraback, Erik Sherman (advisor) ; Wallace, Clare (referee)
The recurrent theme of inter-human family relationships in a state of loss and decay in plays authored by Eugene O'Neill arises in part from the author's own traumatic relationship with his parents and with his brother James. Trying to deal with his torturous memories, O'Neill seeks answers through his cursed characters, who partly derive from the writer himself, yet also offer a universal portrayal of humankind as a victim of his own mental being and system. Given O'Neill's profound interest in psychoanalysis, the plays mostly take place in the life process of the individual minds of the protagonists and of the animating effect they have on others who populate the play-texts; therefore it is essential for the understanding of the play-works under critical consideration to look at the inner lives and worlds of these enigmatic characters, and to evaluate to what extent they act on their own will and where, conversely, unconscious forms of desire from other characters, memories, wishes, objects and so forth are instead determinant. The canonical plays Desire Under the Elms and Mourning Becomes Electra offer an intriguing blend of the forms and of the contents of the classical-traditional and of the modern stage play, as they extend the heritage and the lineage of ancient Greek tragedy, although situated in...

EVALUATION OF POSTERIOR CAPSULE OPACIFICATION AMONG VARIOUS TYPES OF INTRAOCULAR LENS
Pozlerová, Jana ; Jirásková, Naďa (advisor) ; Těšínský, Pavel (referee) ; Synek, Svatopluk (referee)
Purpose: To evaluate posterior capsule opacification (PCO) in patients 7 years after cataract operation with the implantation of three types of intraocular lenses (IOL): rigid polymethylmetacrylate IOL (PMMA) with a round optical edge, foldable hydrophobic acrylate IOL with a sharp edged optic and foldable IOL whose optical part is made from silicone with round edges. For the quantification, two computerized methods were used and the correlation of the two systems was evaluated. Data from both methods were used to compare PCO incidence for the followed IOL and ascertain if some type of IOL showed better qualifications in the prevention of posterior capsule opacification. Patients and methods: We evaluated 73 patients that had undergone cataract operation using the classic ultrasound phacoemulsification method in the time period of 1998-2000 at the Ophthalmology Department of the Hradec Kralove Faculty Hospital. Seven years after the operation, a standard ophthalmologic examination was performed including best corrected visual acuity (BCVA) and a digital photograph of the anterior segment of the eye in mydriasis, focusing on the posterior capsule. On the photograph, posterior capsule opacification were evaluated using the Evaluation of Posterior Capsule Opacification 2000 software (EPCO 2000) and the...

Prospects of mediation in civil cases
Klimešová, Lenka ; Winterová, Alena (advisor) ; Frintová, Dita (referee)
58 THE PERSPECTIVES OF MEDIATION IN CIVIL MATTERS Mediation belongs to the methods of alternative dispute resolution (ADR), which constitute an alternative to the classical legal proceeding. It could be defined as a procedure of finding a solution of a dispute with the help of a third neutral and impartial person - so called mediator. In opposite to the legal proceeding in front of a court, the solution is not authoritatively decided by the mediator, but the parties themselves decide their dispute. Mediation is based on voluntariness. It means that the parties should agree on the procedure of mediation as well as on the personality of the mediator. The role of the mediator consists in encouraging the communication between the parties and in showing them, that their conflict has many ways how it could be solved. Mediation is an actual topic in discussions on international, European as well as on national level. The European Union maintains the development of alternative dispute resolutions. A Directive 2008/52/EC on certain aspects of mediation in civil and commercial matters obligates the member states to transform the regulation on mediation in cross-border disputes into their legal order. In my opinion mediation should be regulated by law also in national cases without the cross-border aspect. The thesis...

Versioning compression of text documents.
Paščenko, Petr ; Lánský, Jan (referee) ; Žemlička, Michal (advisor)
In the work we study e ective management of di erent versions of text les. Outcome of the work is an application managing such archives. The application is able to maximally exploit a similarity between versions of les to avoid redundancy of stored information. Application uses the method of Diff erential File Comparision (diff ), improved by additional smaller dividing entities. Contrary to the the classical di it recogizes also word and character diff erences. Precision of the di vary along a text le according to density and character of differences. Due to that a smaller archive is made and moreover in shorter time. Extra reduction of the archive is achieved by the use of the zip compression method implemented by freeware library Info-ZIP.

Measurement of Carbon Diffusion Coeficient - Calibration of Sputter Depth
Král, Lubomír ; Čermák, Jiří
Depth profiling mode of MiniSIMS device was applied to diffusion measurement. Calibration of crater depth was done using shearing interference microscope Zeiss Epival Interphako (ZEI) and confocal mikroskope Olympus LEXT OLS3100 with atomic force microscopy (AFM) modul. The ZEI uses one of the classical interferometric measuring methods. Generally this method leads to results with considerable experimental error. AFM is a very high-resolution type of scanning probe microscopy, with typical resolution of the order of fractions of nanometers, which is more than 1000 times better than the optical diffraction limit. However, the results taken by ZEI were in agreement with much more precise results of surface profiling achieved by AFM. It was found, at given experimental conditions (Fe-rich matrix, Ga + primary ions, 5 kV/3nA, DWT=1), that the sputter rate is some 0.3 nm per a single sputter scan of the crater area (50x50 µm). This depth calibration with SIMS technique can be applied to the study of carbon diffusion in BCC iron as an example. Special technique was developed, which avoids radio-tracer measurements with C-14. Obtained results are lower than the extrapolated values, which may be due to limited solubility of carbon in iron.
