Uncertainty Analysis of Hydrological and Operating Parameters on Water Management Analysis of Reservoir Storage Capacity
Paseka, Stanislav ; Menšík, Pavel (referee) ; Marton, Daniel (advisor)
The aim of the thesis is to introduce the concept of Monte Carlo method for incorporating the uncertainties into the all hydrological and operational data inputs, which are needed to design and operation of large open water reservoir. Incorporating uncertainties into data inputs during calculation of reservoir storage capacity, then the consequent active conservation storage capacity is loaded by uncertainties. In the same way the values of outflow water from reservoir and hydrological reliability are affected by these uncertainties as well. For these kind of calculations the reservoir simulation model has been used, which simulate behavior operation of reservoir and is able to evaluate the results of simulations and help to reduction risk of storage capacity failure, respectively reduction of water shortages during reservoirs operation during low water and dry periods.

Aspects of globalization in cities, on the example of cities: Prague and Brno
Valášková, Hana ; Illner, Michal (advisor) ; Kandert, Josef (referee)
This thesis "Aspects of globalization in cities, on the example of cities: Prague and Brno" provides a reflection of how globalization influences cities. One definition of globalization is following: it is a complex process which contains changes in society. These changes lie in global conectivity, higher mobility of people and establishment of transnational corporations and to fast transaction of information, ideas, goods and services over national boundaries. Development of cities is influenced by many factors, one of them is globalization. The structure of cities is changing. This thesis provides a description of globalization's processes in two the biggest cities in the Czech republic Prague and Brno. An author has mentioned a concept of global cities. For analysis how globalization affects cities is globalization is divided into few interconnected dimensions. These dimensions are economy, culture, migration and mobility, social-spacial dimension and communication and transport. Within these dimensions are analyzed specific indicators.

Such a complex view can help to similar retailers with orientation in the establishment and funding of a similar type of retail businesses. It will also be evaluated by franchise concept Náš grunt in the light of the real picture of financing its stores.

Teradata: Application of MVC and BLC on data warehouse.
Bednář, Josef ; Pour, Jan (advisor) ; Gála, Libor (referee)
The topic of the thesis has been chosen based on efforts of an unnamed company for better data warehouse optimisation. Since the ETL process at the company has been changed, which led to the migration to Teradata database system, it would be appropriate to perform both the operation optimisation, as well as capacity optimisation. The first part of the thesis describes the Teradata concept and its architecture. This part particularly focuses on the Statistics which belong to the system operation optimisation. The main part of the thesis subsequently deals with Compression. Teradata uses several types of compression. The practical part brings the application of Multi Value Compression which has been performed via an appropriate tool. In order for the generated scripts to work correctly, they had to be adjusted. Additionally, defect reporting was performed and the communication with the development team also took place. The results of the table compression is compared with the estimations. The compression was applied on the production environment. The BLC process consisted of appropriate tables identification and compression testing. Based on the results of the testing, recommendations have been established.

Is the concept of the Laffer curve valid? : the empirical evidence from the corporate income tax for selected OECD countries
Herbst, Karel ; Schneider, Ondřej (advisor) ; Hedbávný, Petr (referee)
This thesis deals with the issue of Laffer curve. According to the idea of Laffer curve when the tax rate exceeds certain treshold (revenue-maximizing tax rate) the tax revenue would in absolute terms decrease with rising tax rate. Therefore this thesis tries to discover whether those facts are valid in the corporate income taxation for 20 OECD countries for the time period from 1965 to 2006. The structure of the thesis could be divided into three parts. In first introductory chapters we would discuss the issue of taxation in general. We will briefly examine the history of taxation and explore the theory of taxation and tax systems. The second part of this thesis will focus on the Laffer curve in detail. Third chapter will introduce the theory behind Laffer curve and discuss its properties for different types of taxation. In the following chapter the literature and different possibilities of estimation of Laffer curve and (or) Laffer effects would be reviewed. Fifth chapter focuses on the corporate income taxation per se and examine the development of corporate income tax revenues and rates in our sample countries. In the last part of this thesis the econometric estimates the Laffer curve for corporate income taxation are presented. Powered by TCPDF (www.tcpdf.org)

Phenomenon of Emergence in Complex Information Systems
Rajnoha, Martin ; Bruckner, Tomáš (advisor) ; Svatoš, Oleg (referee)
The aim of this diplomma thesis is to build a platform of the phenomenon of emergence in complex information systems. To our best knowledge, there has not been provided any similar concept in either internetional or domestic academic literature. The necessity to create a concept of the phenomenon of emergence in the enviroment of information systems stems from the observation of the fragmented knowledge about the emergence concept in the pool of scientific papers where the link between emergence and information systems is missing. As a result, the platform created in this work is the reaction to the lack of the above mentioned link, while the ambition is to provide a cornerstone for potential emergence's utilization in information systems. In this work, we provide a construct that describes and analyzes the characteristics, technics and methodologies in connection with the phenomenon of emergence, placing a great deal on the specifics of the emergence in complex information sytems. Special attention is paid to eNetworks that we consider to be the best enviroment for examining the characteristics of emergent behavior in regards to the concept of complexity. This enviroment shows suitable conditions for the analysis of information spreading and dynamic interactions, which is primarily connected with generating of emergent characteristic. In order to understand the causality of specific emergence's demonstrations, we take a closer look at two approaches: Holonistic multi-agemt systems and iterative simulation process.
