Wind power generation and energy accumulation possibilities
Krbal, Michal ; Mastný, Petr (referee) ; Drápela, Jiří (advisor)
The goal of this bachelor’s thesis is to inform about conditions of running and the character of running of the wind power plants and about the suitable storage systems for the possibilities of time invariableness of power supply. For these reasons is immediately in the first chapter of the thesis described state of using wind power plants in The Czech republic and other countries in Europe which produce electric power. Description of individual functional parts is important mainly from the point of electrician conversion of kinetic energy of wind to electric energy with help of the electric power generator with the highest efficiency and without need for maintenance. It is necessary to know those functional parts of the power wind to be able to design appropriate storage system. The output electric power is very variable at time, mainly output voltage, because wind energy is variable too. The characteristics of the wind power plants as output voltage, frequency and their switching graded at time have to in accordance with requirements of the electricity supply systems not to disturb the stability or even collapse of the electricity supply system which would lead to serious economic consequences. These predicaments can be prevented with precise meteorological forecast or by using the acceptable storage system with small acquisition and operating costs, requirements to safeness and long service life, low weight and high efficiency of conversion of energy. The storage systems are classified into centralized and decentralizing systems with requirements to dynamic running and running time. To fulfil these conditions it is essential to choose acceptable and accessible locations with year lasting qualities of wind, which are being checked in advance using measurement and mathematical calculations.
Project of Backup Power Source for the Heating Plant Červený mlýn
Nagy, Pavel ; Vrána, Michal (referee) ; Jára, Jaroslav (referee) ; Orságová, Jaroslava (advisor)
This thesis describes a design of backup power for heating plant Červený mlýn, Teplárny Brno, a.s. The backup power would be used in case of loss of power from the electricity grid, especially in the case of so-called "blackout". Backup power would supply only necessary systems of this heating plant, such as spinning turbines before stopping, control room power supply and lighting. Particularly designs of accumulator, flywheel and diesel generator are discussed. The main aim is to choose the optimum solution.
Accumulation of Energy from Renewable Energy Sources
Heller, Ondřej ; Radil, Lukáš (referee) ; Mastný, Petr (advisor)
The objective of the first part of master’s thesis is mapping the potential of various types of renewable sources in Europe and Czech Republic, especially solar energy, wind energy, water energy and biomass. There are described principals and ways of energy generation from these sources, brief overview of current technologies, and also their advantages and limitations. An important part is electric supply continuity from renewable sources, there are large differences and the resulting to restrictions on construction and connecting the units to the power system. In this work there are mentioned some impacts on network and rates of change of supply, some sources are also evaluated in terms of maximum power, that can be connected to the power system in our country. The conclusion of the first part is dedicated to energy storage technologies, which are suitable and usable for renewable sources, there are described their principals, properties, status of development and types of aplications, in which these technologies are used. This chapter also focusses on the price level of each technology. The second part of the thesis deals with 1 MWp on-grid photovoltaic power plant design. This design includes also the redox flow batteries accumulation, the first variant calculates on 24-hour steady energy supply, the second optimalized variant calculates on daily energy supply. There are the accumulation system costs estimated and also the payback period for the both variants. Additionally there is also determined minimum penalization for cost-effective operation. The last part is dedicated to changes of impact on the local grid and changes of system impacts, after the accumulation system is installed.
Mechanical Design of Flywheel Energy Storage System
Hanáček, Jiří ; Šebesta, Karel (referee) ; Hartl, Martin (advisor)
This bachelor thesis focus on flywheel energy storage construction. The aim of the work is to discuss nowadays construction types of each component of these batteries. Single chapters are focused on rotor, bearings, motor generator and enclosure of the system. There is shown a basic principle of each component and itsfunction within the battery system, used materials and shapes and other factors influencing the construction. This thesis is also focused on stress analysis of metal and composite rotor, rotor fit with help of magnetic bearings, power transfer with help of motor generator and on the enclosure design of that mechanical battery.
Mechanical press 12 500 kN
Buyalskiy, Alexandr ; Dokoupil, Vladimír (referee) ; Omes, Jiří (advisor)
This diploma thesis deals with the design of a mechanical press drive. It is a crank press with 4 points. The machine is designed for surface forming of body parts in the automotive industry. The mechanical press can work both in the mode of individual strokes and in automatic operation with the equipment to the production line. The first part deals with an analysis of forming machines and a description of the main parts of the press. The second part deals with the design of the drive based on the specified parameters. This part includes a calculation of the individual sectors of the press and a strength check of the drive parts. The drawing documentation is included.

Návrh a realizace laboratorního modelu "Inverzní kyvadlo řízené setrvačníkem"
Novotný, Jan ; Křivánek, Václav (referee) ; Grepl, Robert (advisor)
This thesis deals with the design of a lecture model of an inverse pendulum controled by a flywheel, which is a system of an unstable beam with an electromotor and a reaction wheel at its end. The moment of motor acting on the flywheel also causes a moment acting on the beam, which is the way the system is controled. The device works connected to a personal computer.
Hybrid Drives in the Tractor Construction
Líčeník, Adam ; Řehák, Kamil (referee) ; Prokop, Aleš (advisor)
This bachelor’s thesis utilizes survey of types hybrid propulsion systems in the tractor construction. It evaluates its operational advantages and disadvantages and presents examples of some tractors and its elements. The thesis focuses on components which are used in hybrid propulsion systems. In the conclusion there is a review of individual variations in terms of emission and economy of operation.
Uninterruptible Power Supply
Mrázek, Petr ; Harabiš, Vratislav (referee) ; Sekora, Jiří (advisor)
The thesis deals with Uninterruptible Power Supply (UPS) and associated problems of backup power in case of unexpected outages of electricity. Start of work is dedicated to limitation of the electricity supplies, as well as their causes and consequences. Furthermore, brief history of UPS and subsequently distinguish between UPS’s architectures. There is also a description of the energy sources such as batteries, flywheels or fuel cells. Part of thesis describes security of electricity supply in health care facilities, including requirements for emergency power. The own design of UPS is described in the end.
