Social network as a evangelization tool?
Kulhánek, Jan ; Dřímal, Ludvík (advisor) ; Zimmermannová, Marie (referee)
The thesis explores possibilities of the use of facebook in the field of evangelization. Facebook represents one of many modern-day communication tools that touch ever larger part of human population nowadays. Also Christians must necessarily take an attitude to these tools. After a short historical excursus an outline of the realm of social networks follows. In a short overview the thesis presents key Church documents relevant to the topic. Afterwards it shows examples how the use of communication tools can change lives of many people. An inspiration is found in the area of business as it is used within the contemporary society. The thesis also aims its attention to the essential task of Christians, which is the proclaiming of the Gospel. Besides it takes note of activities of Christians who "live" in this cybernetic space. It doesn't neglect the risks in the field of social networks, risks which may affect those who strive to reach out to people in cyperspace. To the conclusion a short personal testimony is added concerning the role the facebook can play in a life of a Christian. Several possible views are presented here for consideration and at the same time a space is left for personal answers.
From monasteries to men. The significance of monastic architecture and its art in the New Spain of 16th century
Brenišínová, Monika ; Křížová, Markéta (advisor) ; Štěpánek, Pavel (referee) ; Marek, Pavel (referee)
In my dissertation, I inquire into the phenomenon of monastic architecture and its plastic decoration in 16th century New Spain. The aim of this work is to present Mexican monasteries and their artistic significance. In my analysis, I build on the interpretation of monastic architecture from the perspective of early colonial society, I also reflect on the individual level, assessing its impact on the conquest and colonization of America. The methodology of this research project combines analysis of historical (e.g. study of historical sources) and art historical processes (iconological analysis of E. Panofsky) with analysis of anthropological concepts (e.g. rituals of transition of A. van Gennep, thick description of Cl. Geertz, concepts of liminality, structure and communitas of V. Turner). During my PhD studies, I conducted a field trip in Central Mexico (2013), supported by a grant from the Government of Mexico. I visited and documented one hundred and sixteen monasteries and the photographic documentation is the main empirical source of my analysis which further draws from the study of historical sources and academic literature. My research primarily focuses on three aspects: 1. the monastic architecture and art; 2. the role of the monastery in the process of European conquest and colonization...
Bernardino de Sahagún and Pre-Columbian Understanding of the World
Trčková, Helena ; Křížová, Markéta (advisor) ; Binková, Simona (referee)
(in English) The aim of this thesis is to document the Pre-Columbian understanding of the world based on the early colonial text Historia general de las cosas de Nueva España. The author of this book is a Franciscan Friar Bernardino de Sahagún, for that reason I also focus in the introductory chapters of this thesis on the Franciscan activity in the area of the former "Aztec Empire" straight after the conquest. To provide a complete introduction into the context I also include basic information about the Aztec civilization before the arrival of the Spaniards and about the dramatic encounter of these two cultures. The core of my work is a summary and an analysis of Historia general. In this thesis the Pre-Columbian culture is presented throught its two aspects - the spiritual and the "mundane". The content of the thesis provides information about the singificance of the gods in the life of the Aztecs, the rituals dedicated to them, political administration of the "empire" but as well for example the education of the young girls and boys in the Aztec society. Based on the analysis of the Sahagún's text I also mention the distortion of some parts of the text and I point out the necessity for critical reading of his work.
The evangelization in concept of the last popes
Bouška, Jaroslav ; Dřímal, Ludvík (advisor) ; Opatrný, Aleš (referee)
Evangelization is the most important mission and responsibility of the Church and the main characteristic of her very existence. The church evangelizes because it is her duty to proclaim and to testify for the Gospel. The new evangelization is necessary most of all in such places where the Christian tradition has lost its living sense of faith, where people have lost their feeling of being members of the Church, or they have retreated from Jesus Christ. This topic has proved to be very important and pressing. Since the times of the Second Vatican Council, the Popes, namely Paul VI, John Paul II, Benedict XVI, and Francis, have been expressing their opinions on this subject. They have been searching for new language, new ways, new forms of evangelization. This thesis aims to show that there is a noticeable development of approaches of individual pontiffs to evangelization. Keywords The new evangelization; The evangelization; John Paul II.; Benedikt XVI.; Francis; The church.

Vystavěl, Kamil ; Filipi, Pavel (advisor) ; Beneš, Ladislav (referee)
Evangelization in the Conception of Tomáš Halík. The thesis is directed at the term of evangelization and at Halík's understanding of it. The contributions collected and sorted from his books provide a look into his thoughts about essential elements of the evangelization and about ways of evangelization nowadays. The thesis is divided into four chapters. The first chapter contains a short presentation of the evangelization from several other sources. It shows that the Halik's conception is in certain degree polemic with some present ways of evangelization that result from the misunderstanding of the term. The following chapter includes analysis of the Czech society where the Gospel is to be proclaimed. This chapter also contains some various contributions showing that the evangelization manifests itself on different levels by different ways. The basis for all these ways is relationship of Christian love to other people. The third chapter is about preconditions that make possible this Christian love. It is primarily faith but faith in a very specific meaning. This faith is also the aim of the evangelization. The last chapter sums up the Halík's conception of the evangelization and at the conclusion the author of the thesis presents and evaluates some of the Halík's emphasises that he regards as especially...
