Composition and structure of larval trematode communities in model freshwater pulmonate gastropods in eutrophic environments in Central Europe
SOLDÁNOVÁ, Miroslava
This work applies advanced sampling (mark-release-recapture) and comparative approaches addressing the patterns in composition, structure and variability of larval trematode communities in three species of gastropod molluscs (Lymnaea stagnalis, Planorbarius corneus and Radix auricularia) at two nested scales of community organisation in typical Central European eutrophic environments. Hypothesis-testing with the application of null-model analyses, logistic regression modelling and multivariate randomisation techniques, revealed determinants of transmission rates, levels of infection and community structure in freshwater snail hosts in Central Europe and elucidated the mechanisms linking the spatial and temporal environmental variability with the action of complex community assembly rules in freshwater pulmonate snails.
Oogenesis in long-lived water bug Velia caprai (Heteroptera: Gerromorpha: Veliidae)
MÁLKOVÁ, Karolína
This thesis presents results of the histological study of oogenesis in the nymphs of 5th instar, variously aged adult females of known age and adult females of Velia caprai ((Heteroptera: Gerromorpha: Veliidae) of unknown age that were collected in the field. Oogonia in the germarium and the first oocytes that are forming in previtellarium were observed in the nymphs of the 5th instar. Their vitellarium is empty. The first vitellogenetic oocytes appear in vitellarium of ovarioles at 7 days old adult females. Oocytes in advanced stage of vitellogenesis were observed at 25 days old adult females. The secretion of chorion starts at 42 days old adult females. Advanced stage of oogenesis (fully chorionated eggs) was found at 60 days old adult females, at adult females collected in the field, during the period September ? November (2009), and at adult females after overwintering. Females of Velia caprai reach sexual maturity before overwintering, their eggs can be fertilized by spermatozoa from own spermatheca. These females can lay eggs from autumn to the spring. After reaching sexual maturity of adult females, oogenesis of this species seems to be continual.

Martinec, Jan ; Brůna, Karel (advisor) ; Štork, Zbyněk (referee)
The purpose of this thesis is to verify that the practises of debt management agencies in Poland, Hungary and Czech Republic are in accordance with the best practice based on international guidelines for public debt management. On the sample of Central European economies we can perceive new trends in public debt management that were enforced by growing public indebtness and its implications on fiscal health. These trends are particularly demonstated through proces of devoting the debt management institutions from the traditional position in the Ministry of Finance, through emphasis on achieving development of effective domestic securities market and the conception of long-term strategies based on risk management principles. From the comparison of the debt management practices in the selected countries it was possible to put forward a set of specific recommendations aplicable both to local and general conditions.

Tomíšek, Jakub ; Kašpar, Václav (advisor) ; Vošta, Milan (referee)
Presented thesis is focused on the nature of Korean direct investments in European Union, especially in the new central European member states (The Czech Republic, Hungary, Poland, and Slovakia). Additionally, character of existing investments is analyzed. Thesis is divided into three main parts. Firstly, the explanation of development of Korean multinationals is provided. The main question of second part is why Korean multinationals invest in Europe and what the impact of European economic integration is. In the third part, distribution of Korean investments in central Europe is demonstrated. Both the nature of foreign direct investments and the effect of economic integration are analyzed from theoretical perspective first. Subsequently, theoretical concepts are applied on real data. Answer to all three main questions (which, why and how) will provide insight into future development of Korean direct investments in central Europe (middle- and long-term perspective).
