DRKOŠOVÁ, Petra
The present state: Safety culture is a package of measures increasing safety of a patient in a health resort and in nursing care. These activities are implemented by individuals or organisations with the aim of protecting patient from damage to health, resulting from failure of care (24).Subject: The main purpose of investigation was surveying relations of the level of organisation culture in relation to domains of interest and safety of nursing care. Methodics: The impirical part of the bachelor?s thesis was done with the use of quantitative method of research ? data collecting by questionnaire. Evaluation of the style of leadership of the head nurse and questions applied to communication in team was undertaken with the use of modified questionnaire following Kollárik et al. Range of social atmosphere in a group (35). In statements exploring the culture of safety were included questions adopted from AHRQ methodics (36), Czech translation by Filka and Kotrbová (37). The research was conducted in April 2013 in the IKEM hospital in Prague. The data obtained were processed by statistical analysis with the use of SPSS 16.0 programme. The investigation set: Nurses and nursing assistants employed in the IKEM hospital in Prague. Out of the total of 160 distributed questionnaires, 118 completed pieces were obtained. The return rate was thus 73.8 %.Results: The aim of the research was evaluation of relations among the head nurse leadership, communication in team, and safe care of patients. The results of research concerning communication indicate positive evaluation of nurses as to timely distribution of important informations; somewhat worse were results concerning systematic and timely distribution of information. As to rating of effective communication in the team of nurses, 45.8 % of nurses responded positively and 68.6 % of nurses mentioned possibility of discussion. Complience with rules of correct behaviour and discretness seem to be matter of course. Important is respect to differences in opinion and mutual perception in the team. Unfortunatelly, chicane at the workplace is not an exception. A positive feature is that nurses are not afraid to ask colleagues for advice if patient safety is concerned. In implementation of leadership style in relation to patients head nurse is interested in members of team not only as to professional aspects but also as to personal aspects of nurses. She accepts discussion about about tasks, considers opinions of members of the team as well as individual nurses as to new information. Empathy is a positive character quality of a head nurse and she takes interest concerning problems of individual nurses.Among basic rules of safe care belongs hygiene of hands with the nursing personal and safe identification of a patient. Hands hygiene is the simplest prevention of hospital infection, which hospital personal must keep according to law and which they comply with, according to responses. There is possibility of improvement in application of safe care serving medicine as ordered by phone information and serving generic medicine without correction in consulting room. Doctors should be involved in removing these shortcomings. Highly positive is the approach of nurses in reporting an adverse event; nearly all respondents (98.3 %) would not hesitate to report, disregarding the opinion of the head nurse. According to opinion of nurses, head nurse is interested in adverse events and nurses are informed about mistakes which occur at the department, and discussion on prevention of repeated mistakes takes place. Conclusions: From the results of research follows that safe care is considered by personal positively. It is important that this idea is accepted and supported by head nurse and leadership of the hospital. The nurses percept the head nurse in a positive way. Effort in preventing communication mistakes in the team should include empathy and listening.

Conflicts at work of managing nurse
BAMBASOVÁ, Radka
Nurse-manager is a person, who supervises a group of workers and is responsible for the work progress. There are always conflicts that a nurse-manager has to deal with. Most of the conflicts are of a personal character. One can divide these conflicts into intrapersonal, interpersonal, group and inter-group ones. From the psychological point of view conflicts can be divided into imagination-, opinions-, attitude- and interest-ones. The point is not in the conflict itself but in the way the nurse-manager copes with it. Choice of a right strategy can guarantee a successful conflict resolution and proper care for patients. Relationship management depends mostly on the manager personality. Also her skills and abilities matter. The goal of this paper was to find out whether interpersonal conflicts are the most common ones the nurse-manager has to deal with. The second goal was to describe the way the nurse manager leads people during conflict resolutions. The last but not least goal of this work was to find out if the nurse-manager had been skilled for the conflict resolutions before she started her job. To get data for my work I distributed questionnaires among nurse-managers from hospitals in Ceske Budejovice and Pisek. Upon collected information three hypotheses were formulated: Firstly, interpersonal conflicts are common in the profession of a nurse-manager. This hypothesis was confirmed. All conflicts depend on the people involved in the conflict. Secondly, nurse-managers pursue a democratic style of managing. This hypothesis was confirmed. Finally, nurse-managers are not fully trained for conflict resolutions before they start their job. This hypothesis was also confirmed. Most of the interviewed nurse-managers admitted that they do not know the right procedure during conflict resolutions. I would like to present my work during seminars, presentations and articles in the press. I would also like to offer my paper to the top management in hospitals where they can use it as a guide for better conflict resolution and for training purposes.

Leadership style of nurse managers from the viewpoint of regular nurses.
BRILOVÁ, Marie
The most common techniques used in the nursing process include the inspiration of both the nursing team and its individual members and influencing the thinking and behaviour of the individual members of the nursing team for the purpose of affecting the outcome and success of the team as a whole. One of the key elements influencing the others is the manager?s leadership style. The first objective of this Bachelor?s thesis was to determine the leadership style mostly commonly used by nurse managers. In order to assess the leadership style of nurse managers, a managerial grid was used. H1 was determined as: Nurse managers mostly use the ?team management? style. The second objective was to determine whether regular nurses are considered to be partners of their respective nurse managers. In order to assess the relationship between regular nurses and nurse manager, five statement describing their relationship (cooperation, personal and work space, work skills, goals and human relations, respect) were selected. H2 was determined as: Regular nurses consider the relationship with the nurse manager to be a ?partnership?. The first part of the Bachelor´s thesis is dedicated to the theoretical knowledge in the area of leadership and management, classification of leadership styles and their use within the system of leadership and provision of the nursing care. The empirical part of the Bachelor?s thesis was drafted using a quantitative research method. In order to obtain the necessary data and information, a questionnaire designed for regular nurses was used. The research survey was conducted at Nemocnice Rudolfa a Stefanie Benešov, a.s., Hospital of the Central Bohemia Region. The survey was conducted at a total of 21 inpatient department centres. A total of 190 questionnaires were distributed. The return rate was 92%. Therefore, 175 questionnaires were processed. The research survey revealed that the leadership style most commonly used by nurse managers with respect to regular nurses is the ?middle way?, with an average result of 4.46, closely followed by the ?team management?, with an average result of 4.44. The expected H1 was not confirmed. The relationship between nurse managers and regular nurses characterised as ?partnership? was supported by affirmative answers with respect to the five selected statements in 85% of the cases. The expected H2 was confirmed. In practice, it is possible to build on the most commonly used leadership styles to have been identified. Based on the evaluated leadership styles, nurse managers may be trained in leadership techniques, development of individual managerial activities and their practical application. Future managers may then be selected in a consistent manner, meticulously prepared for the managerial position and taught managerial skills.
Evaluation of the atmosphere in the working group in terms of dimensions: communication, leadership style and satisfaction.
DOUDOVÁ, Radka
Abstract The Thesis dealt with the issues of management style, communication and satisfaction with work conditions among shift nurses. The survey research was based on anonymous questionnaires given to shift nurses in České Budějovice Hospital. The survey research was aimed at satisfaction survey in particular areas of the individual dimensions. We evaluated relations at workplace, communication forms used among nursing staff, managerial style of superiors, nurses-managers. We also examined for example satisfaction with remuneration, getting up for work early in the morning and convenience and appearance of nursing uniforms. Upon hypotheses set in advance the survey research led to a conclusion which is favourable for this particular hospital. There were high criteria set for confirmation of the hypotheses. Each hypothesis was mapped by 15 statements in a questionnaire. Where at least 70 per cent of statements were assessed positively the hypothesis was considered confirmed. Where this criterion was not met the hypotheses was not confirmed. Nurses consider communication at their workplaces interactive, so the first hypothesis was confirmed in more than 70 per cent of statements. The second hypothesis we set was that managerial staff choose managerial style oriented in relation with subordinates. This hypothesis was also confirmed in more than 70 per cent of positive assessment. The last hypothesis, that nurses are satisfied with their work conditions was not confirmed. This Thesis tries to emphasise strengths and weaknesses occurring in the medical care system from the point of view of shift nurses. The results will be provided to České Budějovice Hospital for internal use. This work might also be used as a pilot version for a possible regular project for evaluation of satisfaction among shift nurses of this hospital.
