Title of the thesis: Training on rowing machine. Aims of the thesis The aim of this work is to prove the influence of training on a rowing machine on the performance and body composition of a performance rower and two recreational athletes. Method of work The method of direct observation (participation in training sessions) and indirect observation method (training diaries) were used in this thesis. The training took place both on the rowing machine and in the gym and it also included additional sports. It lasted for two months with the focus on improving the riding technique and improving performance. Each subject underwent training at the specified doses. VZ also had a larger number of training units in the gym where he focused on strength training to ride a rowing machine. The MV had training activities evenly distributed among the rowing machine, gym and complementary sports. The TŠ subject was more of a complementary sport and devoted the rowing trainer to the least of the involved subjects. The training on the rowing machine was expertly controlled by the trainer and the trainings including the training plan set by him. The technique was evaluated expertly by the trainer. The Concept II rowing machine was used for training as well as all measurements. Endurance, speed and power were evaluated...

The perfect woman : the analysis of movie characters of artificial female beings from the perspective of postmodern and post-theoretical approaches to the body and the identity constitution
Bubeníčková, Kateřina ; Vochocová, Lenka (advisor) ; Kobová, Ĺubica (referee)
The thesis focuses on the analysis of the basic types of the film characters portraying artificial women: creatures who combine "femininity" (humanity) and technology, and who show female sexual characteristics or features that are stereotypically perceived as female-like (e.g. female cyborgs, female androids, female robots). The characters are analyzed and approached from the perspective of postmodern philosophy and post-theory studies; the forming of their body and identity is analyzed on the account of the narrative. The aim of the thesis is to explore whether the film representations of female cyborgs are similar to real cyborgs in the sense that they bring liberalization from the point if view of posthumanism and cyberfeminism, or whether they can only be perceived as the prime form of the Foucaltian body-as-machine, i.e. perfectly controllable precise technicist bodies which are created by the current power dispositions. The characters are divided into four categories, based on their predominant physical and "social" functions: a sexbot, a domesticated artificial woman, a destructive artificial woman and an emotional/intelligent artificial woman. The following identification and interpretation of the body, identity, relationships and the narrative structures are based on the theoretical...
The thematization of the issue of surveillance and power in cinematography
Šára, Filip ; Fišerová, Michaela (advisor) ; Slavíček, Daniel (referee)
The goal of this thesis The thematization of the issue of surveillance and power in cinematography is to introduce Michael Focault's theory of power, and add to it with other theories of surveillance with regard to the electronic age (Surveillance studies). Subsequently these theories and hypothesis are applied to qualitative analysis of chosen films with the theme of surveillance. Findings should show the cinematographic reflection of the issue of surveillance and power, de facto depiction of theory and practice of surveillance studies (emphasising the use of power in institutions like prison, hospital, school or working environment, which are heterotopic "other spaces") in live-action movies. The thesis shows development within the past 30 years which took place also due to the existence of internet, which is a kind of institution too. Hypothesis: it is obvious in films with surveillance theme that the concept of the use of power is evolving from "body as a machine" (M. Foucault) to "disappearing bodies" (D. Lyon). The choice of films is analysed only with regard to their depiction of surveillance, is mainly based on the list of movies with surveillance theme constructed by a German theorist D. Kammerer. The goal is also to broaden this list with examples of other films since it should emphasise...
Perfect Body: Ethnography of Body in Gym Environment
Hemerová, Aneta ; Grygar, Jakub (advisor) ; Lachmann, Filip (referee)
This bachelor thesis focuses on world of the gym and its members. Its aim is to clarify how the gym shapes the body fitness and how its members perceive body image. This theme is viewed through several theoretical approaches, through mindful body, which is in the context of Nancy Scheper-Hughes and Margaret Lock perceived as individual, social and political body linked together. Furthermore habitus which in conjunction with the theory of Pierre Bourdieu explains environment that is specific for the gym and explains the characteristics of the gym, its culture which is gradually embodied into the bodies of its members. And finally, the gym environment which is understood through the theory of Ray Oldenburg and his third place. The research is based on participant observation of chosen gym. Also it was intensively complemented by research interviews with the gym's members. The analysis shows that this environment shapes the body and the perception of the body in several ways. By placing mirrors across the walls that urge to constant observing of one's body and the body of others, and therefore they tempt for comparison and evaluation. By visual ads of ideal body image that is characteristic for this environment. By machines themselves, their positioning together with weights whose colours creates a...

Cyborgs in Advertising on Mobile Phones
Loudová, Veronika ; Šafaříková, Radana (advisor) ; Kladný, Tomáš (referee)
The thesis deals with representation of cyborgs in advertising on mobile phones from Apple and Samsung. The aim is to show how this theoretical concept - a cyborg as human in intimate relationship with technology - is depicted in advertising. The concept of the work deals with the origin of the term cyborg, its development and its display in art, literature, movies and in works in field of humanities. When examining cyborgs, we use notes from philosophers and science historians, D. Haraway, K. Hayles, A. Clark, W. Mitchell. Their concept of the cyborg is more about mental rather than physical connection to the machine. Here, the mobile phone is used as an extension of people's skills, mental and physical, even without having the device implanted into their body. It corresponds to the idea of human as a cyborg, because the phone as a technology and its user creates a single being, which is now part human part machine. For theoretical base, papers on visual communication, advertising and semiotics were used. This thesis intends to defend the idea of humans as cyborgs and to show how advertisements display relationship between humans and technology, and how new positions of power are created in this ideological environment.
The reason and benefits of the practising the Power plate machine
Svozilová, Barbora ; Hráský, Pavel (advisor) ; Pernica, Jan (referee)
Title: The reason and benefits of the practising the Power Plate® machine. Objectives: In this thesis I would like to introduce a vibration machine Power Plate®. In spite of the quite novelty (as the Power Plate® is considered in the Czech republic), is known and very often used, especially in the rest of the western Europe and United States. The Power Plate company, as one of the producers of products based on the technology of mediating the whole body vibration training to the human body, presents a lot of the benefits gained from the WBVT. Not all of these effects are fully confirmed by the medical research, however large majority of the presented effects have been already confirmed. Therefore I will try to confirm mainly the positive effects of this machine by the publishing the conclusions of the researches, done by the particular institutions. In the practical part of my thesis I will publish the questionnaire done in the wellness studio Bel Corpo in Prague - Barrandov by the clients who regularly use the Power Plate machine. The questionnaire was done for to compare the benefits which Power Plate organisation points out and the real results of the clients who use the Power Plate machine. The schedule of the questions will be mentioned in encloses. Encloses will also contain all the types of...
Innovativ ways to affect overweight and obesity (use of the machine Body - Space VacuTherm)
Šindlerová, Hana ; Bunc, Václav (advisor) ; Kovářová, Lenka (referee)
Title: Innovativ ways to affect overweight and obesity (use of the machine Body - Space VacuTherm). Objectives: The aim of this thesis is to evaluate if walking on Vacutherme encourages and accelerate body fat loss and figure forming as advertisements claim. Based on my own measurements of the clients of our clinic MS Clinic in Slaný I will examine body weight loss, particularly body fat loss, decrease of centimeters of those areas that are exposed to vacuum and change in body composition. I compare the results of clients enrolled in group used to weight reduction only VacuTherm lesson in the machine, with clients of the second group, which combine lessons in the machine with another physical activity attending at least 2 times a week for longer period of time. Methods: To get results important for bachelor thesis I chose only measurement method. For data processing, this method is most accurate. I used two forms of measurement. With one presentation helped me body analyzer Tanita BC-1000, which provided me with information that can not be measured by conventional methods. The second option is a common way of measuring the circumference of lots tracked to within one centimeter. At work I examine a group of 20 women who underwent diagnostic input on physical analyzer, where they were measured value...
