Converter with very low input voltage
Jaško, Michal ; Beneš, Petr (referee) ; Havránek, Zdeněk (advisor)
This Bachelor’s thesis describes a design and testing of an increasing direct voltage converter transforming light energy received by a photodiode to electrical energy with sufficient output voltage to power digital circuits. The theoretical part forms an overview of commercial circuits and the Linear Technology LTC3109 and the combination of Seiko S-822Z20 and S-8353D30MC are chosen as suitable for the further research. The function principles of these circuits are described. In the practical part the maximum output power and efficiency dependences on the internal resistance of the power source of the circuits are measured. Based on the results the characteristics of the Linear Technology circuit with different variants of the input transformers are compared. A modified Seiko circuit with an input photodiode is designed and its function is verified by laser diode powering through an optical fiber.

Comparative analysis of the demographic situation in the Czech-German borderland in the period 1992-2007
Moravec, Štěpán ; Burcin, Boris (advisor) ; Šídlo, Luděk (referee)
The presented diploma thesis aims to analyse and evaluate the development of demographic situation in the Czech-German borderland in the transformational period (1992-2007). We define the Czech- German borderland as the area of 14 Czech districts bordering on Germany, which we further devide according to the borders with the neighbouring federal country to the Bavarian and the Saxon section. 11 indicators in total enter the comparative analysis, which characterize the age structure and the aging of the population, fertility and mortality, natural reproduction, migration and the total population development. The comparison is carried out in three dimensions: a) between the Czech-German borderland and the averadge level of the Czech Republic; b) between the Bavarian and Saxon section; c) among the districts in the Czech-German borderland. Analysis verifies specific position of the surveyed area from the point of the population development in the Czech Republic. The Czech-German borderland features younger age structure, higher level of fertility and natural reproduction, worse mortality and lower rate of net migration. Significant differences in the demographic situation occur between Bavarian and Saxon section. The inter-district variability of the most of the demographic indicators in the Czech-German...

Factors influencing how popular mathematics is among primary pupils
Karhanová, Jitka ; Vondrová, Naďa (advisor) ; Novotná, Jarmila (referee)
This thesis focuses on the popularity of mathematics among pupils of a lower secondary school and factors affecting it. Specifically, pupils' self-concept in mathematics and pupils' initial feelings towards mathematics, the importance of mathematics for their future, the personality of mathematics teachers and his/her teaching skills, class climate and pupils' parents' feelings towards mathematics. The theoretical part deals with the processing and interpretation of the various factors that may affect the popularity of mathematics for pupils, as given in literature. Research results of this area on both international and national scales are presented. The practical part is devoted to my research conducted on factors influencing the popularity of mathematics. The research was carried out via a quantitative questionnaire method. The pilot study served to verify the suitability of designed questionnaires. The results of the main study are carefully discussed (given an opportunistic sample of pupils) in terms of my hypotheses and compared to the results of the international research by the OECD/PISA 2003. Among the factors that influence the popularity of mathematics among pupils most is the influence of teachers' approach and of parents and a pupil's self-concept.

Managing financial risks in an insurence company
Čech, Tomáš ; Marek, Luboš (advisor) ; Branda, Martin (referee)
The graduation thesis addresses the problems of managing and measuring of financial risks in activities of insurance companies. The first chapter handles the definitions of the financial risk and it classification. The second chapter defines a random variable returns of measure of financial assets. Sets up formulas of the return measure and also focuses on problem of time aggregation. The third chapter theoretically describes methodology of value at risk as the most widely used method for measuring and managing risk by insurance companies and regulatory authority. The fourth chapter contains an empirical study from practice which compares the two basic method of computing value at risk. The fifth chapter is the main part of the graduation thesis and focuses on verifying of the model and his imperfections. It verifies also achievements of initial assumptions. The sixth chapter targets on possibilities of extension value at risk method by liquidity risk incorporation.

Measuring social cohesion in the class groups
Buchtík, Martin ; Soukup, Petr (advisor) ; Tuček, Milan (referee)
The thesis discusses the possibilities of measuring social cohesion in collectives of high school student classes in an analytical sociological research. The aim of the work is to create a valid tool, which would enable the measuring of social cohesion. It is empirically based on a survey "Cohesion and solidarity: Social cohesion in class collectives". In the introductory part of the work the contemporary theoretical discourse is presented. On its grounds are discussed the reasons for choosing multidimensional approach of Ade Kearnes and Ray Forrest as a conceptual base for examining cohesion. The concept is then described in detail, it is operationalized and it is also compared to the approaches of other authors. The analytical part of the work addresses three problems. First of all, the suitability of the theoretical model, with regard to the data, is verified using the confirmatory factor analysis. The validated model is then analyzed and set into a wider context. Eventually, in the final part of the work, a 10 item set measuring social cohesion in class collectives is introduced. It is derived from the findings formulated in previous parts of the thesis. Its validity, reliability and possibility of generalization are discussed.

The Evaluation of the Heavy Convective Precipitation Forecast
Zacharov, Petr ; Řezáčová, Daniela (advisor) ; Brechler, Josef (referee) ; Pešice, Petr (referee)
The thesis deal with the evaluation of the quantitative convective precipitation forecast and its uncertainty. Five convective events that produced heavy local rainfall in the Czech Republic were studied. The nonhydrostatic local model LM COSMO was run with a horizontal resolution of 2.8 km and an ensemble of 13 forecasts was created by modifying the initial and boundary conditions. Forecasts were verified by gauge-adjusted radar-based rainfalls. Ensemble skill and ensemble spread were determined using the Fractions Skill Score (FSS). The spread represents the differences between the control forecast and the forecasts provided by each ensemble member, while the skill evaluates the difference between the precipitation forecast and radar-based rainfalls. The numerical experiments used the FSS-skill and spread values related to four events to estimate the skill-spread relationship. The relationship was applied to a fifth event to estimate the QPF ensemble skill given the ensemble FSS-spread. A couple of test of FSS computing were performed. The analysis of these events proved, that the application of the new fuzzy verification scores in high resolution QPF is highly advisable. The new scores are more suitable then the traditional verification scores based on the contingency table. In order to asses the...

The aim of the thesis with topic ,,Comparison of non-diastatic and diastatic malt extracts on baker's quality of flour and their utilization on bakery products" is: make literature research from this area and verify by experiments described advantages of malts extracts in comparison with standard products. The baking experiment was carried out for comparison characteristics of standard products and products with different amount of malt extract. The baking quality of flour was determined with and without malt extract. There were discovered only small differences. Evaluation of common baked goods confirmed the fact, that addition of malt extract raises the volume of product, since all samples, except of sample with addition of 2% non-diastatic malt extract, reached the higher values of specific volume than standard. The results of sensory evaluation were relatively balanced. However, in evaluation of taste of common baked goods all samples with addition of malt extract had more sensory points like standard.

HRYCHOVÁ, Šárka
Background methods: Appearance of decubitus is a main indicator of therapeutic and nursing care quality and is monitored carefully. However, they supervence in despite of high-quality and professional care of nursing staff, because there are factors, which we cannot influence while decubitus emergence. The main purpose of research was to map the preventative and nursing care of clients with the risk of decubitus and with it, find out if the care is in high-quality and possibly debunk absences and deduce a treatment for work experience.Methodics: The research was done by quantitative method, by technique of secondary analysis of data. Analytic studies check if there is a relation among the watched features. The data was received from verified and enclosed nursing documentation of Home for senior citizens in Milevsko from years 2010 and 2011. Procured data was afterwards elaborated by descriptive statistics by Microsoft Excel and SPSS program. Validity of hypotheses was tested via Chí quadrate test. Research aggregate created nursing documentation of Home for senior citizens in Milevsko. This establishment has 36 beds and during the year 2010 and 2011, 85 clients were accomodated here. Consistent with the first research purpose "To map the high-risk factors, which increases the probability of decubitus emergence." was evaluated nursing documentation of 85 clients. Consistent with the second research purpose "To find out, the precautionary measures belittling the risk of decubitus emergence of vulnerability client group." was evaluated by nursing documentation of 54 clients. Consistent with the third research purpose "To map the nursing intervention of clients with decubitus." was evaluated by nursing documentation of 10 clients. Results: From the research, results arose that there was the risk of decubitus emergence at every client of Home for senior citizens in Milevsko according to directory evaluative Norton scale. The final results demonstrated a high percentage 63,4 % clients who were endangered by the decubitus emergence. After one month, a checking evaluation of the risk of decubitus emergence was made according to directory evaluative Norton scale. The results demonstrated the strong depression of the number of clients with the risk of decubitus emergence or at least the depression of risk. The last part of research was focused on watching the nursing intervention of the client group with decubitus and finding the fruitfulness of the decubitus treatment. The result demonstrated that the treatment was in most cases succesfull and that 80% of clients were healed in four month. Conclusion: The important finding for the nursing staff was the assertion that the provided nursing care in Home for senior citizens in Milevsko has a good standard. Simultaneously, some absences were found like deficient resource of nutritive accessoires, damp healing of wounds, and utilities against decubitus in standard goings. The solving of these absences is to increase accessibility and awareness of professional doctors for resource of the necessary amount of nutritive accessoires, damp healing of wounds, and not to let clients with deficient financial resources to be entirely dependent on out of date medical advancement. Also, not to corrupt treatment and precautionary measures. The next important step is to motivate family members and imply them to take care of their relatives. The research was shortened and offered to censored journal for medical and hospital branch Profese on-line to be published.
