Power through humour: Thomas King's strategies for decolonizing Canada
Tuček, Jaroslav ; Jindra, Miroslav (referee) ; Kolinská, Klára (advisor)
This dissertation is about power, humour and various comic and ironic strategies contemporary Native writers and artists apply in their works to challenge the outdated Indian stereotypes and obsolete systems of cultural and aesthetic representation. The artists employ a combination of comedy and irony as favoured modes of expression in order to contest, subvert and critically deconstruct the oppressive hegemonic ideologies and power structures still present in Canada and the United States. Their novels, poetry, essays, films, documentaries, theatre performances, paintings and other works of art strive to emphasize the marginalization and rights of all Native people in North America who have suffered over the hundreds of years of colonization, acculturation and violent cultural appropriation. In the last decade, there have been growing calls from academia, Native communities as well as the government, to reconceptualise the bi-cultural politics between the First Nation peoples and the Canadian nation-state. A great amount of models for an inclusionary and multifaceted identity politics have been proposed by several Canadian cultural analysts and critics, including for example Diana Brydon, Smaro Kamboureli, and Lily Cho. However, before they can be successfully implemented, a creation of an alternative space...

HANZLÍČKOVÁ, Markéta
The territorial protection of historical monuments has been ensured by law since the fifties and the preservation of landscape complexes is more and more emphasised. In the Czech Republic, there are 40 town heritage reserves and 61 village reserves. Cores of historic cities futher protected by 209 town heritage zones nad 164 village heritage zones. Then Conditions int the Czech Republic call for an individual aproach that might be of interes for small historic cities and villages and their micro-regions. The regional development in rural areas, especially in village heritage reserves and village heritage zones should be improved very quickly. This fact has to be reflected in the strategy of the rural areas development as well as in the local resources affordable for safeguarding of culture heritage. The strategy of social and economy development programme should be based on support and use of 2 basic items {--} a city in which the unique character must be protected for future generations and a city as a high quality place for life and work for its citizens. For taking this strategy program in life is high level of cooperation between public on one side and municiple offices and government on the other side really key and necessary. The fact is that regional development and the territorial protection of village heritage zones and reserves are quite important issues at the time and their importance will be increasing in future. It is necessary to create a database of technological procedures of heritage skills and crafts, information how to get financial support etc. and support the publishig of the saved knowledge and its distribution in all sites. This is the only way how to save our cultural treasure for future generations.

Building Cultural Centre
Roubalová, Dagmar ; ČUŘÍKOVÁ, Tamara (advisor) ; HRBEK, Daniel (referee)
Cultural center or cultural house as a building can be found in almost every Czech village. Their operation seems simple, but in practice it looks that like a very complicated question. After 1989 the network of cultural centers was canceled and currently there is no database that would tell the actual list of cultural buildings in the Czech Republic, who are of existing and functioning. Also, now there are rarely built, but very often rebuilt those buildings of cultural centers. These buildings have specific rules, regulations and standards, which are done by the law, its design should be also based on the needs of current and future users, both operators and visitors. Master's thesis summarizes the general and specific requirements that must be taken in building a cultural center and presents a case study on building a concrete cultural center in the suburb of Prague. The main impulse for writing this work is the belief that more attention should be given to this issue. The cultural center as a multifunctional space offering a wider range of programs available to all the population is the first and closest point of contact with the culture of everybody of us. It affects overall relationship to cultural values and is also a place where everyone will have these values to guarantee equal and free access.

Emancipation movement of the Czech workers in Louny region in 1868-1938. Contribution to the problem of research of cultural life of lower classes of the society
Svou práci chápu především jako příspěvek ke sledování emancipačních tendencí dolních vrstev společnosti (pojmy "dělnictvo" a "dolní vrstvy společnosti" v názvu práce ještě dále upřesním, níže - v podkapitole II.3.
