Possibilities of using VBA in business practice
Urban, Pavel ; Benáčanová, Helena (advisor) ; Rybka, Čestmír (referee)
This bachelor thesis describes the possibilities of Visual Basic for Applications programing language in real business cases. The goal of the thesis is to develop an application in VBA, that will save the users time and it will awake their interest into automation tools. The application is used to demonstrate the possibilities of VBA. The first part of the thesis analyses the situation and how much the automation tools are used in the HR department of the company the application was developed for. The second part describes the application and its components. There the functionality is explained, the process of development and the users point of view for each component. The last part describes the launch of the application and users feedback.
Portfolio optimization
Arzumanov, Eduard ; Šindelářová, Irena (advisor) ; Chýna, Vladislav (referee)
Nowadays, when the financial sector influences directly or indirectly nearly every part of person's life, when inflation is taken as a normal phenomenon, when we are witnessing bankrupts of different companies, banks and other financial institutions almost on a daily basis due to the incorrect managing of the financial assets or due to the incorrect estimation of overall economic development, more and more often one should consider how to manage his funds to prevent their depreciation or even how to use them to increase its value. For these reason investment into securities has become one of the most common ways of increasing the value of one's financial funds. Particularly -- one way of investment is becoming more and more popular nowadays - financial portfolio investment. That is why this thesis not only will introduce the basic principles and rules of portfolio investment, diversification and the concept of risk (in theoretical part), but will also demonstrate how is the diversification of a portfolio done in practice. The example of portfolio optimization is done using multi-criteria decision analysis applied to a model, designed in MS EXCEL with help of VBA environment.
Logical puzzles and brainteasers as optimization problems
Lukesová, Kristýna ; Chýna, Vladislav (advisor) ; Šindelářová, Irena (referee)
This thesis applies classical optimization problems such as assignment or set-covering problem on logical puzzles or brainteasers. Listed in the first part are mathematical model, description and typical example of each optimization problem used in this thesis. The second part contains these models applied to the particular brainteasers for example Sudoku or Einstein's Puzzle. Exercises are divided into simpler and more complex ones. There is specification, source and a described method of solution stated for each of them. The calculation examples use Lingo or MS Excel or both. The aim is to show the possibility to address logical puzzles and brainteasers with the use of optimization problems, and thus confirm the wide possibilities of using these models. These examples can clarify and diversify the curriculum.
Optimization in MS Excel using VBA
Lhoták, Petr ; Chýna, Vladislav (advisor) ; Šindelářová, Irena (referee)
There are available various professional applications for the solving of optimization problems. This thesis deals with comparison of these optimization systems and simplicity of their connection with MS Excel through VBA. Problem of designing model together with his calculation in MS Excel or other systems connected via VBA, like MPL for Windows or LINGO, is demonstrated on concrete examples. Application in Visual Basic for Applications was created for this purpose. This application is easy to use and it is solving Knapsack Problem, Distribution Problem and also Quadratic Assignment Problem. Finally, comparison of these systems is made using Multi-criteria evaluation.
VBA Application for Country Comparation by using Multi-Criteria Decision Making Methods
Hlaváček, Michal ; Kalčevová, Jana (advisor) ; Kuncová, Martina (referee)
The aim of this work is to create an application in VBA to compare countries using multi-criteria decision making methods. The main methods, mentioned in the theoretical part are implemented in the application. In theoretical part there are also compared different multi-criteria decision making methods. This work also describes macroeconomic criteria, weigths and the selection of countries. The aim of the final part is the analysis of country comparison results.
Probability calculator in MS Excel
Ginzl, Michal ; Malá, Ivana (advisor) ; Vrabec, Michal (referee)
The main aim of this thesis is to perform analytical methods for estimating the most commonly used survival distributions. There are introduced the maximum likelihood estimates of the parameters for the exponential, log-normal, gamma, logistic, Gumbel and Weibull distributions without data censored. For some distributions are mentioned probability plotting and how to estimate parameters with method of least squares or by method of moments. There are discussed tests of goodness of the best fitting distribution. Two tests are based on log-likelihood function and another on test of hypothesis. Practical part of this paper forms application programmed in VBA in MS Excel. Main part of this application includes: module for probability calculations, graphs editor and module for data analysis.
Support of teaching computer courses for seniors
Janečková, Hana ; Benáčanová, Helena (advisor) ; Seghmanová, Michaela (referee)
The purpose of this bachelor thesis was to create an e-Learning study material on the subject of MS Excel and to explain the steps of its creation. To achieve these aims it was used not only theoretical materials, but also the results from the questionnaire filled by participants of courses at the University of the Third Age. The thesis is divided into theoretical and practical parts. The theoretical part deals with the question of e-Learning, its definition, its characteristics, its advantages and disavantages. Next, it focuses on the question of seniors education. Special emphasis was put on the practical part, in which the connection between seniors and the program MS Excel was analysed. Then their demand was respected during the creation of e-Learning study material. The contribution was in the creation of study material and in the posibility of utilisation in education.
Using an interactive whiteboards on the primary school to teach the topics Natural numbers to 1 000 000, Dependencies and relationships.
KOUKAL, Martin
The thesis deals with the practical use of interactive whiteboards in teaching the topics natural numbers to a million, dependence and relations. In the introduction, I compare the general principles of the mathematics teaching and I comment on the documents dealing with the given topic. The work includes a manual and the instructions to my interactive material. The thesis also describes the process of the course material verification. In conclusion, I subjectively evaluate the acquired knowledge in confrontation with reality.
Network investigative activities in school instruction of spreadsheets
ŠIMANDL, Václav
The work is concerned with preparing exercises for the teaching of bulk data processing in the environment of a spreadsheet program. The exercises can be used in the lessons of ICT in the upper stage of the elementary school and in secondary schools. Presently a lot of exercises exist. These exercises are based on obsolete or uninteresting data or directly on artificial data. On the contrary there are few exercises which are based on up to date data or on data which the students entered. In the work there is an emphasis on the importance of creating exercises which are based on up to date data which is freely accessible on the Internet. For example geographical, economic or meteorological data. A software application which can download this data and transfer it into a suited format for further use in a spreadsheet program is a part of the work. We can note the benefit of using exercises, where data has been entered by the students of the class. A part of the work is a software solution which makes a survey possible for the teacher. The students answer the questions in the survey via a form. These answers are worked up into a table for further use in the lessons. An important part of the work is a set of methodical sheets. These sheets contain topics for exercises, which are specialized in bulk data processing. They show acceptable elaboration of downloaded or measured data and possible interpretation of the results. The main objective of the work is to show how and where to get up to date and attractive data for the teaching of bulk data processing and how to use it. The software and the methodical sheets should contribute to this.
