Hrdina, Jan ; Skřivan, Aleš (advisor) ; Stellner, František (referee)
Bachelor thesis deals with the Council for Mutual Economic Assistance (Comecon) and its effects on the Czechoslovak foreign trade in the years 1949-1959. The work is mainly focused on changes in territorial and commodity structure of Czechoslovak foreign trade on the background of development of the Comecon. Partly also mentions impacts on associated industrial production. During this period, Czechoslovakia underwent the most extensive changes due to rebuilding the economy, which was directly associated with the Comecon and its effects on foreign trade. Through the Comecon, Czechoslovakia was forced to accept the role of supplier of other member states of products of engineering industry. Czechoslovakia thus helped with the industrialization of less developed countries. The work also points to the dominant role of the Soviet Union in Comecon, and how could politicize its activities to promote their political goals. The intention is also to outline the work of foreign trade in the Soviet model from theoretical point of view. The aim is therefore to assess the consequences of membership in the Comecon to Czechoslovak foreign trade and its functioning in the Soviet model based on planning and centralization.
Analysis of the so-called rebuilding of the Soviet economy
Mádrová, Olga ; Stellner, František (advisor) ; Szobi, Pavel (referee)
The aim of this work is the analysis of the economic reforms implemented in reconstruction of the Soviet economy by M. S. Gorbachev since the late 1980s to early 1990s. The first part of the work is engaged in analysis of the underlying assumptions of the Soviet economy, thus its poor condition and negative factors that caused this state. Furthermore, the first part of the work focuses on the analysis of domestic and foreign political scene and the discussion on the need for economic reforms, which took place recently in 1960s. The second part focuses on specific economic reforms, where I am performing detailed analysis of original intentions and of course including justification results. Work answers the question, why did the conversion process ended in failure and why it failed to implement the original three key reforms. The work demonstrates that legalization of entrepreneurship was not understood by most of citizens and byrocrats. Laws were inadequately prepared, included many uncertainties and space for deviation from the original intentions of their creators. These two elements have led to the failure of attempts to improve the performance of the economy and consequently resulted in the fall of the Soviet Union.

My bachelor's thesis goes back to the period of the end of the World War II, especially to the period of three years after the end. The goal is to provide a complex insight of events of that period when Czechoslovakia got in thrall to the Soviet Union. It is focused on particular political and economic events in Czechoslovakia used by Moscow to show its objectives in Central Europe. Firstly, I analyzed the situation during liberation of Czechoslovakia by the Red Army and just after. I focused on the Government Programme of Košice, Soviet critic of the Prague Uprising and the Czech National Council. Secondly, I analyzed Moscow's pressure about Těšín area situation and annexation of the Subcarpathian Rus, government elections of 1946 and influence of its results on building up relations between Czechoslovakia and the Soviet Union. In the area of economic relations, I focused on disputes about war booty, new trade contracts negotiations with the USSR and consequent problems that escalated with Moscow's dictate about the Marshall Plan adoption. After that, I examined the conception of politics of Edvard Beneš and his relation to the USSR being a person that believed in victory of democracy.
