The Kelly Criterion
Kálosi, Szilárd ; Omelka, Marek (advisor) ; Hlávka, Zdeněk (referee)
The present work is devoted to the Kelly criterion, which is a simple method for choosing the amount of the bet for gambles with a positive expected value. In the first part of the work we introduce the mathematical explanation of the criterion, examine the capital after $n$ trials as a function of the bet, the long-run rate of return and asymptotical properties of the capital growth. In the second part we attempt to generalize the Kelly criterion from the first part for some other situations. Examples for a simple game and generalized situations illustrating the properties of the Kelly criterion and results from previous parts compose the last part of the work.

Bottled versus tap water: factors influencing drinking water
Bayer, Jakub ; Bártová, Jiřina (advisor)
This study compares factors influencing tap drinking water compared by those enviromental factors affecting bottled water. Local village water well is compared by bottled water Dobrá voda. Problems are supported by worldwide background research evaluating bottled water contamination and toxic substances leach from plasticizers. This comparaion weights possible contaminants of tap water and bottled water drawn from alike hydrogeologic regions. Borehole in Bilsko village and bore Dobrá voda is located in similar hydrogeologic area supossing identical composition of soil and therefore similarity in water mineral and toxic content. Data obtained from others studies are evaluated with respect to our own findings. Aim of the study is a review of current trend and circumstances affecting consummation of bottled water in the household.

Wireless Security Audit
VRÁTNÝ, Jan
This bachelor thesis deals with security problems of wireless networks, also known as Wi-Fi. The purpose of the thesis is to explain the concept of Wi-Fi network, from what components it is composed, introduce safety devices used in wireless networks, and perform a research in a selected city in a specific location with the largest concentration of people if the wireless networks are secured and if they are what type of security is used. In a domestic environment an illustrative attack will be made on a Wi-Fi network secured by 128-bit WEP key. Also I will describe a new security bug that was discovered at the WPS function. Furthermore, this bachelor thesis will focus in detail on a local business, which in addition to conventional LAN extensively uses Wi-Fi network. An analysis of the security of the Wi-Fi network will be performed and the results will be evaluated to show the economic impact on the company if it were to be subjected to an attack in which sensitive data are leaked.

The sea theme in modern Greek literature
Frontzová, Kateřina ; Dostálová, Růžena (advisor) ; Čapková, Sylvi (referee)
The purpose of my Bachelor thesis is to analyze the motif of the sea in Modern Greek literature, particularly in prose. I have chosen this topic for it combines linguistics with literature. The sea plays a great part in the life of the Greeks and I find it very interesting how Greek writers reflect this fact in their works. The thesis is composed of three chapters. Introductory chapter outlines historical development of sea-voyage and summarizes appearance of the sea theme in the Ancient and Byzantine literature. Chapter Two illustrates motifs of the sea voyages and nautical theme in realistic works of Modern Greek writers of the 20th century. Chapter Three deals with two novels written by authors of the Generation of 30's and influenced by the Asia Minor Disaster. This chapter consists of four parts. Part One examines The Mermaid Madonna by Stratis Myrivilis. Part Three investigates Elias Venezis' Aeolian Earth. Both of them used in their novels legends of mermaids. Part Two provides a comparison between their different approaches to the particular legend. In those three parts I focus on figurative language and distinctive style of these authors in selected passages closely connected with the sea theme. The last part of the third chapter is dedicated to Greek fairytales which had great impact on...

Mathematical Programs for Dynamic Pricing - Demand Based Management
Tato stochastická úloha je modelována (reformulována) pomocí dvou přístupů stochastické optimalizace: wait-and-see přístup a here-and-now přístup.
