Testing of maximum SF in a swimming flum, and swimming pool - a comparison of methods
Hubička, Tomáš ; Jurák, Daniel (advisor) ; Čechovská, Irena (referee)
Title: Testing of Maximum HR in the Swimming Flum and Swimming Pool Objectives: The aim is to compare the detection method of max HR in a swimming Flum with the method of detection max HR in the classic swimming pool. By meeting other goals we want to determine which method is more precise, what the positives and negatives of individual measurements show and what the difference are practically max values observed in HR pool and the Flume compared with the results of theoretical calculation max HR. Methods: According to a pilot study with methodology of the thesis, HRmax was tested in a swimming Flum and the methodology according to Formanek and Horčic HRmax testing was carried out in the swimming pool. A sample of probands were selected from students UK FTVS. For the recording was used sporttester and data evaluation program execution Polar Precision Performance. To determine the submaximal swimming speed we used CSS test. This rate was also used to warm up before swimming test to the individual HRmax of probands in a swimming Flum. The measured data of both measurements were compared with each other and the results described and evaluated. Results: CSS gained speed in m/s, was used in the Flume in escalations test to HRmax. We measured values HRmax tests in a Flume and in a swimming pool. The Test...
The Analysis of Selected Swimming Pools in Prague
Jelínková, Jana ; Flemr, Libor (advisor) ; Chrzanowská, Babeta (referee)
Title: The Analysis of Selected Swimming Pools in Prague Objectives: The aim of my thesis is to create an analysis of selected swimming pools and to compare them to each others. Furthermore, the thesis should show the threats and opportunities of the selected swimming pools. Methods: The case analysis was chosen as the main research method. In the preparation of this analysis other methods were applied, such as intentional selection, document analysis and semi-structured interview. Based on the results the SWOT analysis was developed. Through this method the strengths, weaknesses, opportunities and threats of the selected swimming pools are shown. The final comparison of all the swimming pools was made using all the previously mentioned methods. Results: The analysis shows that we can label all the selected swimming pools in Prague as functional swimming pools. Functional swimming pools do not lose money, nor do they profit. However, it was proved that none of the chosen swimming pools would be able to function without getting some form of grants. The location of a swimming pool does not influence the number of visitors coming there. Every location has its advantages and disadvantages. The selected swimming pools should try to make their web sites more interesting and easily accessible to visitors,...
Old - new urban spa
Hoffová, Monika ; Šindlar, Jiljí (referee) ; Hrabec, Josef (advisor)
The aim of this bachelor thesis is a spa reconstruction in the Brno-Židenice district. The area of the whole parcel consists of winter spa building as well as summer aquapark (pool, spa) with the summer part belonging to it. The building of the city spa in Zábrdovice designed by Bohuslav Fuchs back in 1932 is a monument indeed: not only is it a valuable building but it is also an irreplaceable source of the knowledge about it. The building represents the finest work of the Brno’s architect from his most productive era and it demonstrates the way the inland architecture has always been able to respond to the the global trends. It also documents the culture influence of the mid-war Brno in which the young and fresh avantgard style has gained an unambiguous support of the political governance of the city. Finally, it indicates the confidence of that era which was determined to overcome the problems of the old world once and for all. More than eighty years later there could not be found use for the original function and so a renaissance must happen. Not only a purpose and a spirit of the building must be found but it also needs to be adapted to the contemporary demands so as not to lose the historical value. This thesis will also be dealing with the urbanistic solution of the surroundings, especially the Zbrojovka grounds which are situated in the close proximity of the spa. It is a very extensive place that used to be very significant and unique industrial grounds, but nowadays it is closed. It could, however, become unique again and along with the Bohuslav Fuchs’s jewel it could bring a new life to the whole district.

A Comparison of heart rate, lactic acid production and swimming speed in a flowing channel and a swimming pool
Kozel, Tomáš ; Horčic, Josef (advisor) ; Kovářová, Lenka (referee)
Name of Work Comparison of heart-rate, lactate levels, swimming speed in streamlined (aerodynamic) channel and swimming pool. Goal of Work To determine whether the same swimming speed affects the heart-rate and blood lactate in exactly the same way, in both the aerodynamic channel and in the swimming pool. To check the velocity of water flowing in a streamlined channel. Method Data collection (blood lactate, values of heart-rate, speed of swimming) will be done first in the swimming pool and then in the streamlined channel, the so-called FLUM. Probands will swim progressively faster in swimming sections of equal length. To obtain lactate levels, the invasive method will be used. Cardiac frequency will be obtained from heart-rate monitors, which each proband will have mounted on the body throughout testing. To verify the speed of flowing water, measuring equipment (propellers) borrowed from the Czech Agricultural University Prague, will be used. Results The work provides information on whether there is a difference in values or internal performance when comparing the speed in swimming pools with the speed in a streamlined channel. If so, the researcher will create a formula to convert the swimming speed in the aerodynamic channel to the speed level in a swimming pool. To create a formula that would...

QUESTIONS OF SAFETY IN THE INSTITUTIONS INTENDED FOR WATER HOLIDAY ACTIVITIES
KADLECOVÁ, Jana
``Water-related injuries{\crqq} are the second most frequent cause of death of children in the Czech Republic. My thesis addresses the issue of safety in facilities designed for aquatic leisure activities. Within the scope of the qualitative research with the aim to analyze technical standards, to ascertain their observance and afterwards to analyze the injury risks I used the data collection technique consisting in secondary data analysis, observation in combination with photographic documentation and semi-standardized interviews. For the research I selected a swimming pool in České Budějovice and Aquaviva Wellness Centre in Aurora Třeboň spa. The reason for this selection was creation of a pilot study monitoring safety in these facilities in South Bohemia. The Czech Republic has technical standards in place that are applied to minimize the risk of injury to the largest possible extent in facilities like that. They determine the procedures that have to be observed during construction and subsequent operation of facilities designed for aquatic leisure activities. The provisions defined by the standards are observed in both facilities but in their substance they are so generalized that it is only at the operators{\crq} discretion to what extent the safety is to be secured by them. They should be more specified and applied concretely to individual units of the equipment in order to create a safe environment. As far as risk places in the facilities are concerned, it may be stated that, regardless of compliance with the requirements defined by the standard, there is a large number of risks related in particular with slippery surfaces. Within the scope of the safety evaluation, it is also necessary to take account of hazardous behaviour of users of the chutes. The results of the research indicate that in Aquaviva Wellness Centre in Třeboň safety is secured and complies with the requirements of technical standards and the prevention requirements; the swimming pool in České Budějovice shows more serious defects {--} the standards are complied with but the surfaces are not covered with materials that would secure safety. On the basis of my research and other technical studies that confirmed seriousness of water-related injuries it is obvious that the issue of injuries in this field will require modification of safety measures and more precise specification of standards and thus elements such as materials of surfaces that would secure the required safety.
